Chapter 195 - Finishing the Painting

The next day, Feng Mian felt really tired and ended up sleeping in. Even if she woke up early, her sleepiness kicked in and pushed her back to sleep. It took her hours before she finally woke up.

Turning her head to the side, she noticed that Zhang Liang had left. She might have slept in a tad too much. As the memories of last night rushed in, Feng Mian felt her cheek turned red once more. She pushed the thoughts back and moved to the side of the bed.

Slump!

She could not muster any strength on her legs….

Feng Mian wanted to cry. Glancing at the clock, she realized that it was already 11 in the morning. Usually, Butler Lou will come to wake her up if she was still sleeping at 9, so it meant that Zhang Liang must have told him to let her continue sleeping and didn't disturb her at all.

It took Feng Mian a few minutes before she could finally walk to the bathroom. Her body felt sore, yet she tried her best to act natural. Though, she was partially dragging her legs since she could barely muster any strength.

Klek!

"Madam, have you woken up?" Butler Lou asked. He was standing not far from the door, waiting for her to come out.

Feng Mian nodded weakly. "Where's Liang?"

"He's outside, running."

Running?

Feng Mian was stunned. Zhang Liang usually started running when it was six in the morning. If he was still running, did it mean that he was running for five hours straight? He truly had too much energy….

Butler Lou coughed when he saw Feng Mian's expression. "Master is a bit too energetic today."

"I see."

"I'll call him."

Feng Mian dragged her body to the dining room. When she entered the room, she could see Zhang Liang rushing in. His body was covered in sweat because he was running all the time. Seeing this, Feng Mian truly wondered if he didn't have to go to work.

"Mian'er, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, just a bit sore."

"Uh…" Zhang Liang felt awkward since he knew that it was his fault. He looked at his sweaty hand and rushed to the bathroom to take a bath.

Butler Lou didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He brought out the meal from the kitchen and served it in front of Feng Mian. Feng Mian herself waited until Zhang Liang returned back before they began to eat.

"What's your plan for today, Mian'er?" Zhang Liang asked when they had finished the meal.

Honestly, Feng Mian wanted to continue sleeping, but she also wanted to start coloring her painting. She smiled. "I want to finish my painting."

"Alright."

Zhang Liang stood up and walked to Feng Mian. He slowly bent down and pulled Feng Mian to his embrace. With a smooth motion, Zhang Liang already lifted Feng Mian up in bridal style.

"L…Liang!" Feng Mian's face flushed red.

Zhang Liang coughed. "Well, since you have difficulties walking, I think that this will make it easier."

Feng Mian's face turned red. She could see the servants were looking away. Her hand lightly hit Zhang Liang's c.h.e.s.t. "You dummy! Don't say it out loud!"

However, Zhang Liang merely laughed and brought her away. In the dining room, Butler Lou just shook his head yet there was a faint smile on the corner of his lips. It seems that their relationship progressed well.

"Geez, do you really have to lift me up?" Feng Mian's face was still blushing. She was sitting in her studio with her brush and paint ready. Zhang Liang had already become her servant as she ordered him to pick the necessary paints to be put near her.

Zhang Liang laughed. He put the can of paint near Feng Mian as he smiled. "Isn't that fine? You're my wife."

Feng Mian pursed her lips, but it was clear that her eyes also brightened. She calmed herself down and started to paint the sketch of Zhang Liang that she had drawn before.

Behind her, Zhang Liang was staring at the painting. He felt as if he was looking into a mirror when he saw his own face on the canvas. At the same time, Feng Mian began to color his shirt in blue.

Today, Feng Mian was wearing a blue dress with a long shirt. He smiled lightly and called her out.

"Mian'er, do you want to hold a wedding celebration?"

Feng Mian stilled and turned around. Her hand was still holding a brush as she looked at Zhang Liang with a smile on her lips. "Yes!"

If this was asked when they just met before, her answer would be a big no. But now, she wanted to have a proper wedding ceremony with Zhang Liang. Even though they were already husband and wife by law, having a ceremony would be good too.

Zhang Liang nodded. "Where do you want to hold the ceremony?"

"In church," Feng Mian fixed her seat since she was still partially looking at her painting. She looked at Zhang Liang. "It doesn't have to be so grand, but good enough for the guests and also your family."

The Zhang Family is a prominent family in this country. The wedding ceremony should be able to represent their name, so Feng Mian knew that she also needed to make it big enough.

"Alright. I'll call the others to help with the preparation."

"I want to join too!"

Zhang Liang nodded. He walked closer and patted Feng Mian's head tenderly. "Don't overwork yourself, ok?"

"That's my line. Also, I haven't seen you work today."

It was then Zhang Liang recalled that he was supposed to be reviewing the doc.u.ments. He sighed. "I'll be right back."

Feng Mian giggled when she saw Zhang Liang rushed out. It seemed that he truly forgot about the work he was supposed to do last night. Well, it doesn't really matter. Feng Mian chose to continue working on the painting before her.

In the meantime, Zhang Liang called the others to come. Zhang Xue came along, bringing a box filled with macaron for Feng Mian. Lu Di La and Zhang Ai were busy discussing the venue and so on. When they heard that Feng Mian only wanted a wedding ceremony and not a wedding reception, they had to abandon their original plan.

Feng Mian's reason was simple, she didn't really want to be staying on the stage for a long period of time. Wedding reception might be nice, but she just didn't want it. After all, she had long gotten used with just something simple.

Even when she was just a kid, her view of marriage only consisted of wedding ceremonies in the church, signing the marriage certificate, and lastly having dinner together as a family.

Well, since she already signed the marriage certificate and had lunch, all that was left was only the ceremony.

"Xiao Ai seems to be disappointed when she heard that I don't want a wedding reception," Feng Mian commented when the three of them had gone home. She was doing a finishing touch for her painting.

Zhang Liang nodded. "She just liked a grand wedding. Don't mind her too much. If you don't want to, we'll just have a normal ceremony."

"En."

"It's already night. Do you want to continue painting until midnight? I know you wake up late, but it wouldn't do you good if you stay too late," Zhang Liang reminded.

Feng Mian giggled. "I just want to finish this painting before it's too late."

"There's a deadline?"

"Tomorrow is your birthday, right?" Feng Mian asked back. "I want to give this painting to you as your birthday present. It might not be worth much, but I think that it's…"

Before Feng Mian could finish her words, Zhang Liang had pulled her to the back and kissed her lips. His hand was holding her hand tightly, making sure that the brush didn't accidentally create another stroke to the painting. His other hand was holding her waist tightly. At the same time, his lips were locked to hers, tasting every part of her mouth.

After a few seconds, he released her. Feng Mian was gasping for breath as she looked at Zhang Liang, her cheek tinged in red.

"Don't surprise me like that!"

I'm happy that you think so much about me," Zhang Liang replied with a smile.

Feng Mian pursed her lips and turned her attention back to the painting. "Let me finish this first."

"If possible, I want you to draw yourself next time."

"Why?"

"That way, I can always look at you whenever I miss you."

"Liang!"

He could just take a picture for that! There was no need for her to paint herself. Seeing the smile on Zhang Liang's lips, Feng Mian knew that he was teasing her, so she tried to ignore him.

In the end, the painting was finished after a while. It took her some time to finish the painting and handed it to Zhang Liang.

Feng Mian spent the next few days preparing for the wedding ceremony. They picked the date to be at the end of November and everyone was working hard to make sure that it would be her best day.
