"Alright~."

Yu Zheng Tong looked at the two of them and sighed internally. He led Yu Yan to the garden while his brain was racking for ways to break the ice between them. Even when he was talking to his business partner or have a presentation, he hadn't been this nervous before.

"How are you, Mr. Yu?" Yu Yan was the first one to ask.

"Ah, I'm good…" Yu Zheng Tong hurriedly replied. He looked at Yu Yan hesitantly then decided to just give it a go. "Are you well?"

"Yeah."

The answer was extremely short and Yu Zheng Tong didn't know what else to ask. He could only lead his daughter to the garden and showed her the plants he had planted there. Since he was in pinch, he could only take care of it by himself.

"Do you have time to take care of all this?" Yu Yan looked at the garden in surprise.

Yu Zheng Tong let out a dry laugh. "I just simply take care of the garden whenever I feel too stressed…. I'm sorry."

In the end, the only thing he wanted to do was to apologize to his daughter. There was still hope from the corner of his heart that it might be possible for him to repair the previously broken relationship he had with his daughter.

Just a little hope. 

"You don't need to apologize to me."

"Yu… Mrs. Long?"

Yu Yan looked at Yu Zheng Tong and simply showed a smile. She had finally realized what she wanted and why she felt like she wanted to meet with Yu Zheng Tong once more. He was someone who had regretted his choice and tried to make amends for it.

But she no longer needed it.

"It's fine for you to keep on living without the need to pay attention to me anymore. I'm already a grown up and the past had already passed. I don't mind visiting and talking with you again in the future, but please live your life for yourself, Mr. Yu.

Don't let me affect your daily life. Even if you owe me, it's not possible to return back to the past anymore."

After saying that, Yu Yan turned around and walked towards her husband.

Yu Zheng Tong stayed still in his place, his eyes were looking at Yu Yan's back as he didn't know what kind emotion was brewing in his brain. He understood her words very well. She could see that he was trying to change and wished to get close to her again, but she didn't want it.

For a moment, Yu Zheng Tong could see the image of the young girl who was running with her back faced against him. She was chasing after some butterfly while he watched over her in the garden.

But it was all in the past now. 

The relationship they had could not return back anymore. It was too late to return back to the past because the young girl was no longer the same, the old man was no longer the same.

They used to be father and daughter.

But they couldn't return back to the past. They had to live their own lives now, life that had no relationship with each other.

They could still talk to each other, but they would not be able to be father and daughter anymore.

Yu Zheng Tong sighed.

While Yu Zheng Tong stayed in the garden, Yu Yan walked to Long Ying. She didn't want her father to wait for her anymore because she knew that she didn't want to change her heart anymore. It would be better for them to part ways and had no relationship with each other completely anymore.

Maybe… if she wanted to cultivate relationship with her father once more, he would be delighted and the ending would be different.

But Yu Yan didn't want it.

She was already 28 years old and no longer needed a father in her life. The times when she needed someone to take care of her had long passed and thus, she could not bring herself to get close to her father again.

"Are you done?" Long Ying asked softly.

Yu Yan nodded.

"No regret?"

"No."

"Okay, let's go home. Aunt Yun prepared a lot of dishes for us today."

"Why?" Yu Yan was stunned. Rarely, she felt as if Long Ying was preparing more and more food for her to eat.

Long Ying pinched his wife's cheek. "That's to make sure you're healthy. Stop working too much on that company and focus more on your health."

"Yessss."

A few days passed. 

When Yu Yan and Long Ying were staying home and not working, they got call from Long Shu Ting. He informed them that Long Shao Huai had died due to heart attack in his residence and that Long Shu Ting was pointed to be the family head.

"Heart attack?" Long Ying asked once more for confirmation.

Long Shu Ting let out a dry laugh from the other side of the phone. "Do you really think I'm the one behind it? I'm not that idle to make up stories like this and caused someone to lose their life."

"I'm just confirming."

"The funeral will be held in a few days. I'll send you the address and the time. Do you want to come?"

"I'll be there."

"Oh, right, you can just wear your glasses to hide your silver eyes. I need to talk to you about something after the funeral."

Long Ying's eyes flashed when he heard what his first brother said. He naturally understood that the real reason why Long Shu Ting invited him to come to the funeral was because of the conversation that he wanted to do afterwards and not the funeral itself.

After all, Long Shao Huai was not any better than a stranger and also a distant Boss in Long Ying's eyes rather than a father. He had no intention of coming if there was nothing that was important there. 

"I understand."

"Good. Don't be late."

"I won't."

Long Ying put down the phone and looked at Yu Yan. Seeing her curious gaze, he explained that his father had died and his older brother wished for him to attend the funeral that would take place in a few days.

"Do you want to come with me?"
