2 Years Of Restarting

Closing her eyes, Yu Yan snuggled closer to Long Ying. "And it's only thanks to him… I can live peacefully….zzz."

The room turned silent and only the light breathing of two people inside could be heard.

Long Ying caressed Yu Yan's hair lightly. He had actually guessed as much when he saw how good she was with calculation and also management. It was impossible that she had never learned them before and with her course was art related in university, it could only be possible that the one who taught her didn't let her show her skill before it was the right time.

If not, probably almost all company would want her to be their company's manager or economy advisor. Just from her skills to quickly infer things that was necessary or not for one company within short period was already outstanding enough. Only few people who could possibly match up to her skill.

And yet, she was living as an ordinary art manager that was trying to slowly rise to higher position.

'Grandfather Kang, Kang Shu Jiang.'

The man was also someone who was known to be a great businessman in his time. It was only because of a failed investment that he failed to continue his business and was reduced to second rate businessman in City A. However, his influence was still quite big because of the properties and mine he had. 

Long Ying could see that he had personally groomed his granddaughter for something. But what it was, he didn't know.

It felt annoying to him that he didn't manage to guess what that old fogey was thinking when he decided to let his daughters ignore his granddaughter. Or when he decided to let those useless daughters of his to waste his money for their enjoyment.

He didn't even teach them properly but he taught Yu Yan very well.

There was no way that old man didn't have other plan behind those schemes and decision he made. A businessman was cunning and Kang Shu Jiang, who was once hailed as a business genius back in his youth, couldn't have let his useless descendant destroyed what he had worked so hard back then.

Long Ying's gaze deepened. No matter what Kang Shu Jiang planned, he had to uncover it. If it was something that was detrimental to Yu Yan, he would stop it from happening at all cost.

After that day, Long Ying got busy. Dealing with the drug dealer took him much more time than what he thought. Long Ying barely went home for the next few weeks as he dealt with the drug dealer and chased after him.

Yu Yan only knew from news that there was a drug dealer who got caught because of infighting that occurred inside. She knew that it must be the work of Long Ying, but she didn't know the exact detail because he didn't let her know.

While Long Ying was busy with his case, Yu Yan went to work as usual. The busy period was finally over and the people in the office could afford to be more relaxed than usual.

"Manager Yu, the work is done," Mu Cheng Yue reported timidly.

Yu Yan glanced up and looked at the new intern. The work that Mu Cheng Yue done so far was decent. It was not that stellar but it was also not that bad, in other word, average. Aside from the fact that the girl was somewhat at the shy type, there was nothing bad with her.

"You can put it here. Has your leader assign you more work?"

"He said that I should help Manager Yu."

"I don't have anything you need to do." Yu Yan waved her hand. She had already finished her work and the amount of work during this time was so small that it barely posed any difficulties to her.

"But I…" Mu Cheng Yue looked nervous. She didn't know what she was supposed to do and being only at work for such a short period of time, she was still not used with the work here yet.

"Don't worry, you can just help your leader to sort the paper. I'm sure he'll be happy for your help."

"Yes, Manager Yu."

As Mu Cheng Yue went back to her team, Yu Yan sighed. The other manager next to her glanced in her direction and tilted his head. "The new intern seems to like you a lot."

"What are you talking about?"

"She keeps on searching for you even though she could just ask her leader. You're supposed to be only talking mostly with the leader from each group and not take care of the new artist." The male manager pointed out bluntly.

Yu Yan glanced in his direction and narrowed her eyes. "Say, Manager Shi, do you really love to gossip."

"I'm only reminding you to be careful. You're the type that can get fooled easily."

Yu Yan rolled her eyes. She was not gullible, ah! However, she did take another look at Mu Cheng Yue as she began to rack her brain. There was never any memory regarding this woman in her mind but she did try to get close to her so badly.

'Well, I'll leave her be for now.'

Not wanting to think too much, Yu Yan cleaned up her belongings and checked her email while waiting for the work time to be over.

When it was time, she headed down and noticed that a young woman had stood near the entrance. She had long black hair and sexy figure that was highlighted by her slightly tight dress. Her facial features were similar to Yu Yan but her face was slightly more rounded, which made her cuter.

"Sister," the woman, Yu Xin, greeted and waved her hand as if she was greeting someone dear to her.

Yu Yan looked at her younger sister with placid expression. There was never any care between each other and only fake appearances were the truth behind their relationship.

"What are you doing here?" Yu Yan asked in indifferent tone.

"I'm here to give you an invitation to my engagement party." Yu Xin smiled brightly, showing the dimples on her cheek. Her hand extended an envelope, which surely contained the invitation for her engagement party.

"Oh."

"You'll come, right Sis?"

"Sure." Yu Yan extended her hand to take the invitation party then stepped back quickly before Yu Xin could catch her hand. Her eyes were cold as she looked at her younger sister.

It was not the first time Yu Xin pretended to give her something then tried to trip her back. Back then, Yu Yan was unprepared and ended up becoming the villain in her school because she pulled her sister so hard that the latter fell down. But now, Yu Yan was prepared.

"Sister?" Yu Xin was stunned to see that Yu Yan had already moved a distance away. If she still tried to forcefully held her sister hand, outsider would be able to see the awkwardness in their position and knew that there must be something wrong.

"I don't have any intention to play your game, so you should search another person who want to play your game along with you," Yu Yan spat out coldly. "Don't worry about me not coming. I'll be there." And slap your face so badly that you won't dare to step out of home.

Yu Xin forced a smile, she looked awkward to look at that it was a bit unbearable to look. At the same time, her pure white clothes made her look so pitiful as if she was being bullied.

"Xin'er!" Bao Tu looked alarmed when he saw Yu Xin looked like that. Originally, he was standing just a few feet away and already felt uneasy. When he saw Yu Xin's expression, he couldn't tolerate it and stepped forward. He glared at Yu Yan with annoyance.

"Can't you see that your sister is just being kind to you? Why do you have to treat her so coldly?"

"And why does it matter to you how I treat her, Bao Tu?" Yu Yan looked at Bao Tu as her eyes were extremely cold. She treated him not any better than stranger as if he was never in her heart at all in the first place. 

"She's my fiancée."

"Oh. So?" Yu Yan asked again. "How I treat others is my business and not yours. You have no right to demand anything from me."

Bao Tu's face contorted. He used to chase after Yu Yan because he found her interesting but now, he felt that she was so infuriating. 

"You're truly an eyesore. Why did I even agree to go out with you before?" Bao Tu spat out.

Yu Yan's eyes were cold. "You're the one who proposed to me, Bao Tu. Even your friends knew that but now you want to twist the truth? Why don't I see how much you're going to pay those rich people to spread lies?"

"You b*tch!" Bao Tu couldn't stand it anymore and stretched his hand forward to grab Yu Yan.
