A Brother's Sacrifice

I felt a tap on my shoulder which woke me up from my little rest. I sluggishly tried to make myself comfortable while at the same time, wiping small droplets of sweat that was hindering my eyes.

"We've arrived Tenma."

Aki informed me and I tried to look at what's outside through the window. As Aki said, we have arrived at our destination. We were in a place called Hakuba, situated in Nagano.

I don't know the details on the program that we would be having but, this is quite the sight that I am looking at right now. Trees were all over the place which makes it look like a forest.

I opened the window to let the air hit my face since it was pretty hot in the bus.

"Haaa..."

"It's a beautiful scene, isn't it?"

Aki also looked outside through the window and complimented the scenery.

"Yeah."

I replied to her in a tired and uncaring tone. She peeked at me for a second before redirecting her eyes to the scenery. Mr Kimura stood up from his seat, which was at the very front of the bus, and clapped his hands thrice loudly to get the attention of all the students on the bus.

"Everyone please listen to me. We are going to arrive at our destination in just a few minutes for the study camp. But bear in mind that there are going to be also civilians over there, so you all must behave well in front of them so as to not tarnish the reputation of our school. Did everyone get the message?"

"""Yessir!"""

All the passengers answered the teacher in charge energetically. They were all looking forward to it as this was their first trip together with their friends since attending this high school.

"If anyone misbehaves, that person will immediately be sent back to his home. But not without getting some punishments."

Without looking at that teacher, I was resting a little bit more. So I closed my eyelid so that I could prevent the sun rays from irritating my eyes.

"Did you catch all of that, Kaburagi and Fujimoto?"

"Tsk."

Can't he see that I am tired? Yet he dares to disturb my quiet and peaceful time. Being a bit angry at that stupid teacher, I ensured him without opening my eyes to look at him.

"Yeah yeah, won't do anything."

He didn't say anything but I was wondering what kind of face was he making. Since I was too lazy to even do that, I proceeded to rest a bit.

"Wait a minute teacher! Why am I also being warned!?"

Aki raised her voice because she didn't accept one thing. Well, what would she expect? She is my partner or, should I say friend with me. The me, who is the most feared delinquent in Aomori High School.

"You're always together with Kaburagi, so there are chances that you would follow his footsteps and do the same thing."

"Please don't put me together with this kind of person."

"Either way you both better not cause trouble here. Is that clear?"

"...Yes sir."

That conversation ended with me being insulted a bit and with Kimura's win over Aki. What does she mean by 'this kind of person'? I'm from the same race and species as you, you musclehead.

Anyway, the faint voices that I was hearing from all the passengers talking, started to die down as my consciousness inclined more towards my sleepiness.

...

"Wake up Kaburagi! Everyone is getting off the bus."

This time, it was Kinoshita who woke me up. I tried to stand up slowly and I yawned quite loudly. Kinoshita was not bothered by that so I guess it was fine.

"Where is Aki?"

"Just outside the bus."

I took my bag, got out of the bus and went where Aki was. All of the students were assembled and were given information about the activities that we were going to have in these 3 days of staying in Hakuba.

After some minutes of discussing the good aspects and objective of this program, a female guide led us into our place of stay. It seems like all the boys and girls will obviously be sleeping separately, and about 20 people can sleep in one room.

That means that approximately 6 rooms like these are needed to attend to the whole freshman student body. Since our class has the equal number of boys and girls, only 15 boys in our class will be staying in one room, meaning that there will be 5 others from another class that will be sleeping with us.

It was like an opportunity to get to know a lot of information about the other classes. But only in the afternoon that we will know who the five people that will be staying with us.

For now, after we were being guided by the lady in front of us through all of the places that we need to know, we assembled in a certain room big enough to be called a hall. Other classes were also present there, waiting for us to be in order. It seemed like we were the last one to arrive.

I spotted Reika, who was talking with other female students enthusiastically, probably due to this lodge being so beautiful and refreshing.

The crowd of teenagers dimmed down their talking after they saw a bunch of teachers standing in front of them with quite an intimidating presence.

"Since it seems like there is no one who is missing, I'll start talking."

The one who just talked with a rough and loud voice was one of the teachers in our school who accompanied us for this trip alongside Mr Kimura. His name is Komori Todoh.

Looking at his muscles, anyone would guess that he is a boxer or an MMA fighter. But he is actually the PE teacher and also the advisor of the Karate Club. He is considered the strongest one at our school, that's why I'm wary of him.

"Starting today you will all stay here and do many activities together. So I expect that there will be no complaints from the staff about misbehaviours coming from our school."

The students were all silent, which made Mr Komori a bit satisfied. He continued to inform us.

"Today, all of you will visit some places and after that, we will meet in the classroom to study. Does anyone have any question?"

No one even made a noise. Hearing no one, he smirked a little and said,

"You're all dismissed!"

After that, all of us were guided by some disciplined and friendly-looking guides. We first went to a museum which was based on Hakuba itself. It was near the lodge so we went there on foot.

There were some pretty amazing wall sculptures and statues. Ancient antiques were displayed in some type of glass barrier as if they were showcasing a real diamond.

I didn't understand why it was amazing so I got bored pretty quickly. Next place was a store with mostly beauty equipments such as necklaces, makeup appliances and dresses. So for the guys, there was nothing to do while the girls enjoy their 'little' shopping.

And lastly, we went to a little restaurant to calm down our hunger. I had some omelette rice, also known as 'Omurice', and it tasted more delicious than what I've eaten before.

After I've finished eating that delicious meal, I went outside to get some fresh air. I was in a pretty deep thought and realized something.

'Why did I come here for this stupid trip?'

A sense of regret was surging into my heart. Instead of coming here, I could've just stayed home and played some game. That would've been better than going on this meaningless trip.

'This trip is going to relieve my stress' my ass! It's just irritating me more and more! To hell with this study camp program! Now I have to endure this for 3 days!? Don't be ridiculous! I wish a meteor rock would come and fall down on this place!!'

...

.....After I said all the things that were nagging my mind, I calmed down and breathed in some fresh air.

"Everyone! Visiting times are over! Let's return to the lodge now!"

A male guide, who was pretty average-looking, warned us about the time. All of the teenagers were upset but they had to accept it. We made our way to the lodge for class.

'The 3 days of boredom is about to start.'
