A Brother's Sacrifice

"Mr Komori?"

I stood up when Kinoshita affirmed that it was indeed the PE teacher standing near me.

"What's your name kid?"

"Huh? Me?.....I'm Kinoshita Ken."

Scanning him from head to toe, Mr Komori was analysing his body. He did the same for Aki. She thought that this teacher had some perverted intentions but his eyes were serious.

And finally, he looked at me quite differently. His gaze was accompanied by hatred and disgust. He sees me in a different light than the others.

"Are you Kaburagi Tenma?"

The pressure emitted from this question that came out from his mouth is something that I could not ignore.

"Yes I am, sir."

"Figures."

What does he mean by 'figures'? Am I really that famous? I should be cautious around him.

"You, Kinoshita was it? Why don't you join the Karate Club. I can teach you there personally."

That was quite a sudden proposal here. Kinoshita looked at me before replying in a seemingly disappointed tone.

"I'm afraid that I can't sir. I'm already in the Literature Club."

That was a lie. Maybe he did not want to get involved with this Komori guy too.

"Is that so? You definitely have some muscles in your body. I thought you would be in a sports club or any physically related club."

"No sir. I just do some jogging."

"Hmmm..."

Staring at him for quite a while, he changed his attention towards Aki.

"And you, are you in any club?"

"N-No sir."

"Practice sports?"

"...Kickboxing sir."

He was stroking his beardless chin, thinking of something. Then, he turned to stare at me with a condescending look.

"Sir, I have a question?"

Breaking the small silence between us two, he clicked his tongue. Why the heck is he like that towards me? I haven't done anything to him that could anger him.

"Make it quick."

"What's the reward for us?"

"...What reward?"

"For the 3 people who came first at this place."

"Aah...There was a thing like that huh."

Did he already forget it? I'm really trying to suppress my wrath but this muscular bastard is making it very difficult to do so.

"Oh well. Forget about the reward. Go and take a shower to get rid of the sweats drooling off your body."

A vein bulged on my forehead. Looking at his composed face makes me even angrier. I refused to leave with empty hands.

"Sir. We put in the effort and did our best to do this stupid 2 km hiking course and we came first. But we don't get anything? We deserve a reward!"

Our height had about a 10 cm gap so his head inclined downwards and coldly stared at me. I didn't avert my line of sight from those intimidating eyes.

"A bunch of delinquents deserving a reward? That's a first for me."

"You-!"

I clenched my fist after listening to his answer.

"Stop it!!"

The one who came in between us was Aki. Kinoshita put both his hands on both of my shoulders and dragged me away from Mr Komori.

"I'm really sorry for my friend's behaviour sir. I will make sure that this will never happen again."

Aki bowed his head, making a full 90-degree angle between her legs and her belly.

"Aki! Why are you apolo-!"

"Shut up Tenma!"

"Tch!"

I gritted my teeth and decided to not drag this matter any longer. I told Kinoshita to let me go and he reluctantly did it.

"You all better behave yourselves. There are civilians here so be well-mannered at all time."

"Yes sir."

He left the scene quietly without looking back. The other students started to arrive at this place. They had the faces of some criminal escapees who successfully broke out of jail.

"Aki, why did you interfere? Are you really satisfied with not getting a reward?"

"It's definitely better than getting beat up by that teacher. Did you not see how much he was irritated because of you. He is very dangerous."

"...Let's just forget about that bastard for now."

"...Good idea."

We all went and took a shower. In the end, the hiking course ended with the last 3 people doing 20 push-ups. Even though 2 of them were girls, Mr Komori mercilessly ordered them to do the punishment.

After cleaning the sweats off of our body, the time of hell began for me, which is class. Enduring it was a lot more difficult than yesterday because we just did a meaningless exercise activity.

After 4 to 5 hours, the period of time that I was sitting in the darkness of the abyss came to an end. And as expected, Aki and Kinoshita were quite happy about the lecture, but also exhausted.

After that, we were given a break to relax and breathe some fresh air outside. It seems like in half an hour, we are going near a lake. I heard that we are gonna be riding a boat or something like that.

In this small time to rest, I still could not shake off the thought of matter with that PE teacher. Just thinking about fighting him, is able to make me think of negative results.

But nonetheless of those pessimistic thoughts, I'm kind of curious about how the fight between me and him would go on. Pondering over this, I unconsciously raised the corners of my lip.

Lake Aoki was the name of the lake where we are going to do the boat riding activity. Actually, 2 different class are going to participate. And guess who was here as well? Reika and Imai, who were both holding hands quite openly.

Many spectators, who are seeing those two, were stopping and looked at those two. They had an above-average beauty which was revered by almost all of the students of Aomori High School. Of course, the civilians would also have those kinds of reaction when seeing these two together.

In this event, the 2 classes collaborated with each other. Since the boats could only hold 4 people at most, the 2 classes merged together to make groups of 4 people more easily.

In all there are 30 students per class, so now there are 2 classes here, meaning a total of 60 students. If we divide that by 4, we get exactly 15 groups of 4. And coincidentally, there were 15 boats at the sides of the lake.

Everyone was already teaming up. But there was one problem

"Well, who's gonna be the unlucky one stuck with us."

I announced that information with Aki and Kinoshita. With me, Kinoshita and Aki forming a group of 3, only one is needed for this group to be complete.

So in other words, the ones who couldn't make it into a group will be the sacrifice. I feel sorry for the one who will take up that role. But if it is a brave one who is coming, I might scare him a little.

Anyway, we were waiting near the last boat for the last person to come. All of the other freshmen had already got onto their boats.

"Sorry for the wait!"

I turned to that cheerful voice. A girl was running in our direction. She came to a stop right before us. She was really tired from running this small distance so she looked down to catch some breath.

If she was in our class, she would've surely been punished by Mr Komori on the hiking course.

As her breathing was steadily becoming more normal, she raised her head to look at us. Her black hair, which is the same length as Aki's, or even a bit longer, was quickly being removed by her hand out of her face's way.

The expression of an innocent and naïve female student was implanted on that student's face. I don't remember seeing a face looking this innocent.

"Hello. My name is Hirabayashi Maika. Nice to meet you all."
