A Brother's Sacrifice

Chapter 7 - 7: Time For Revenge

The sun rays irritated my eyes, which kind of acted as an alarm to inform me that it was morning. But only this couldn't wake me up as I turned around to block the rays with my back.

"Wake up Brother! It's already morning!"

"I know..."

"If you know then wake up now!"

"Ugh...5 more minutes..."

"You know what? Suit yourself."

She left angrily while banging the door to close it. I turned to look at the clock. There was still so much time before school starts so why is she going so early?

Is it club activities? Or her friends? Or is she just eager to go to school? Either way, that doesn't concern me so, let's sleep.

....

After about 10 to 15 minutes, I slowly tried to get up from my bed. I did my daily routine and went to the front door. I searched for my shoes and I remembered something.

"Mom! Don't forget about what I said yesterday!"

"Yeah yeah I know. Just go already, get out of my sight!"

"Geez, no need to be so impatient."

I put on my shoes that I found and opened the door.

"I'm going."

"..."

"No response. I see," I muttered

I closed the door and walked out of the yard. It was only a 15-minute walk to the school so I leisurely walked as there were exactly 20 minutes before class would start.

10 minutes of walking and I could see the school building. But what diverted my attention from that was a familiar voice of a girl.

"I'm going!"

The person who came out of the house, which was literally to my right, was Aki. She stopped on her track mid-way when she saw me but she continued to casually approach me.

"Yo. You really do live near the school."

"Yeah. What about you?

"Me, well it's a bit further up the street, but not that far."

"Oh, okay."

Like this, we continued to chat on the way to school. When we arrived at the school gate, the students were all looking at us.

"Rumors really do spread fast."

"Because of a certain someone."

I smiled at her. It was true that I want everyone in this school to be wary of me. In this school, Aomori High School, I want to be someone who anyone doesn't really want to deal with.

Ruling this place with fear is the best way to manipulate this school. I will be labelled as evil but I don't mind being one, as long as I can accomplish my objectives, by any means.

And this is all for Reika. This is retribution for me. I won't let Reika be hurt again. If Reika is harmed, I won't be able to control myself. That's why I'm doing all of this. To protect Reika from any danger, I will make this entire school know my presence.

We walked towards the school building to change our shoes at the shoe locker. The mass weren't getting in our way but instead, they silently moved out of the path we are taking.

Fear and discomfort are seen from their body languages while some brave ones were emanating killing intent through their eyes.

Now, I will have to wait and see. The stage is this school. Both the audience and the victims are the entire student body. And the villain is me.

Now, who wants to be the hero to step up and confront me? If there is someone who has the guts to do that, I'll crush him and humiliate him in front of the school so that he won't show his face anymore.

....

We were sitting at our seats while the gazes were piercing me but I ignored it.

"Aki, don't you get hurt when you punch someone?"

"No, why do you ask?"

"I saw your hands were not in a good state when you fought with those delinquents yesterday?"

"It's just that I don't feel the pain. That's why I don't bother with my small injuries."

"That's no good. Even if it is just a small injury, you should still protect your hands."

"With what?"

"Like a bandage. Not only it protects you, it also deals greater damage at your opponents."

"...Maybe I'll try it sometimes."

I smiled at her and replied,

"What about today itself?"

"What?"

Before she could ask more questions, Mr Kimura, the homeroom teacher entered the classroom and ordered everyone to sit down on their respective seats. Aki stared at me suspiciously but eventually, ignored me.

....

Aki ruffled through her contents in her bag and took out something, her lunch box. It was obvious as it was currently lunch break. As for me, mom didn't make me one so I stood up to go to the cafeteria.

It's a pain in the a.s.s for me to do it as I'm very lazy. But my hunger is a catalyst that keeps me motivated to do something.

"Will you come with me or stay?"

"I'll stay. I'm really hungry."

"Okay. I understand."

As I was about to go, the classroom door at the back opened with a 'bang' noise. That attracted the whole class' attention towards the person responsible for that noise.

And it turns out to be that coward leader who Aki fought yesterday. Although I said fought, he just ran away while watching his henchmen being ruthlessly beaten down by Aki.

"Oi, you bitch! Wanna play with us?"

Behind him, I could see three or four students behind him. But the closer I look, they seemed to be thugs. The school uniform was the only evidence which confirmed them to be students, not thugs.

That threat was directed towards Aki, who was about to open the lid of her lunch box. As she saw who was the one who interrupted her lunch, she had a mocking smile on her face.

"Oh. If it isn't the coward who ran away like a crybaby."

He looked really furious for a moment there but his expression instantly turned to that of confidence. I wonder if he has some kind of plan.

"Let's fight! I'll make you pay for the humiliation you caused me!"

"Yeah but before, ask him for permission."

She pointed at me, diverting the attention from that coward to me.

"Are you Kaburagi Tenma?"

"Yes. How do you know my name?"

"You're quite...famous due to the cafeteria incident."

I turned my sight towards Aki.

"Wow, you became so well-known in just one day."

"Thank you for your compliment."

"But in a bad way."

"I'm still happy."

Finishing our small exchange of words, I returned back into business mode when facing that coward.

"Yeah, you can fight with her. The place is the rooftop. Is that alright with you?"

"Yes."

"Then let's go Aki."

Aki stood up while putting her lunch box back in her back.

"And here you go Aki."

I handed her bandages that I 'borrowed' from the infirmary. Looking at this item, she smiled at me and said,

"You cheeky bastard."

I smiled gently at her. And lastly, I need someone.

"You over there."

"Huh? Me?"

A timid-looking boy, who was sitting at the very back, looked at me shockingly.

"Go buy me a Yakisoba bread and bring it to the rooftop."

"B-But I'm...eating."

"Didn't you hear me?"

He shrieked in fear before standing up and running out of the classroom. I stared at Aki who was looking forward to it.

"C'mon Tenma, let's go already."

"Okay okay."

Aki then looked at that cowards with expectations. She then licked her lips and said in a somewhat excited tone,

"It's time for my revenge."
