Chapter 27 - The Value of Life

The sun was setting and the scent of blood permeated throughout Alexandria, I looked at some of the corpses of the previous residents to see if I recognized someone, I did see a lot of faces that I knew but we never really bonded and they were pretty much people who sat around and gossiped. Even though I went and started to kill them silent, they still got inside... I was a bit saddened but it's alright since I can kill the root of the problem who is currently being held by Morgan. Chop the leader's head off and everything will unravel if there are more that weren't around for the attack.

I received a head count from Noah, there are forty people left from the original seventy or so; excluding the children which amounted to around seven. Twenty-five of out of that forty are combatants or have some combat experience, the rest are people who got luck. The total population now was forty-five, including me; after I execute the leader, I'm going home to my family who I totally locked in an unbreakable bas.e.m.e.nt.

Following the foreign scent, I arrived where he was being held at. Morgan was watching over him, I didn't care for his name and walked towards him while pulling out a pistol. While I was raising the gun, Morgan used his staff and tried to knock the gun out of my hand but I moved my hand back before he could. I looked at Morgan and sighed before saying, "Sorry, I'll patch you up later." I shot his foot, leading him to flinch then aimed the barrel at the psycho prison's head. The damn psycho smiled and I smiled back saying, "Memento Mori." I pulled the trigger and that was it.

Morgan stood up with the help of his staff and said, "You didn't have to do it! He could of changed; all life is precious." I sneered and said, "The value of life is nothing, life is everywhere and abundant. How could something be precious if there is so much of it? Your 'wisdom' will be someone's downfall. Now shut up and let me treat your foot." I walked towards him but he shoved me away, I got annoyed and swept my leg under him causing him to collapse onto the concrete floor. I took his boot off and inspected his foot, I shot at the web of his big toe that connected to the other toe. All I had to do was suture it together and bandage it.

After giving him his first aid, I slapped him on his shoulder and said, "There are children living here. If you are going to say life is precious, say that the children's life are precious since they'll be carrying our legacy when we die." With that, I went home and let Edin, Jessie, Ron, and Sam out of the bas.e.m.e.nt. They started asking questions on what happened but I told them they can go out and find out. I was a bit frustrated that Aaron just has to carry information about this place's location! 'Who does that?!' I began raging in my mind while I settled on the sofa inside the living room.

I sighed and took out the vial of Leylin's bloodline and bought the materials needed to assimilate with the bloodline, costing me 750,000 Z-Points. I expected to spend more since it was a Rank 10 bloodline that was a perfect path but I'm not going to complain, I'll take it. Why the hell would I complain about it being cheaper than I initially expected?

I went out to the drive way since I don't want to carve or draw shit in my house. I mixed the materials and created an oil to decrease the pain and ensure I keep the 100% purity, thank you Leylin. I got a reply telling me, 'You're welcome, just stay away from my omniverse.' I respected that and then began stripping down into my boxers, earning me a few questioning looks. I paid no head to them and carved the circle with symbols on the ground, placing the rest of the materials in their spot.

While I was doing everything, I thought to myself, 'Why bother to hide when nothing to stop me after this? I can already make myself untouchable, so why not come out and help them survive in someway shape or form?' The meditation technique came with the Ancient Byron Language so I didn't have to worry about spending Z-Points on buying the language, I lathered myself in the oil and began the incantation with the vial of blood in my hand; starting the process.

The spectators thought I had gone insane when I stripped and carved in my drive way but hearing the language that caused them to have goosebumps and feel a slight pressure on them along with the blood entering my pores. They realized that this isn't craziness but something that they cannot comprehend-- Magic.

'God DAMN! That hurts a lot even with the oil numbing the pain. I can feel the blood devouring my previous blood and the power of the bloodline, flooding me with power and the p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e that comes with it. Is this what all those braindead main characters feel? If so, I want to leave my half braindead squad and join the full on braindead squad!' Even while going through pain, I still managed to have useless thoughts. My head is filled with air, isn't it?
