A Cheat's Survival Journal

Chapter 6 - Trying to be cool

I smiled and took my Kar98k off of my back by its strap, I went over to the ledge that oversees the path to the construction site, I quickly realized something. I'm nearsighted, it seems that in both lives I'm going to struggle with seeing things. Everyone was making their way down to start the first part of the phase, I called out to Glenn causing to turn around and ask, "Yeah, what's up?" I asked if he can search for a pair of black framed glasses that fit close to the prescription that I gave him. He was a bit confused before asking, "Do you perhaps have bad vision?" I chuckled, "Yep, I'm nearsighted. It's beneficial since using a sniper scope will feel a bit more natural to me. But I can't always look through a scope. Also, if you find any eye drops and or cigarettes down there, grab em." He nodded and joined the rest.

I released a deep sigh and breathed in and out calmly to adjust my mind. After about 5 minutes or so, the others came back and Morales, the guy who's name I had forgotten, started searching with the others except Andrea who came to me and handed me a bag with a pair of prescription glasses, eye drops, and 5 packs of cigarettes and 2 lighters. I looked at her and said, "Thanks, I'll make sure both of them make it." Taking out a bottle of eye drops, I opened it and tilted my head towards the sky to apply 3 drops to my right eye that I'm going to be using to see through the scope. After swiftly applying it, Morales spotted Rick and Glenn. I aimed my sniper over ledge and secured it against the ledge, looking through the scope; I felt like I was a master sniper, thank you Absolute Combat. I can probably shoot the sun if I wanted to. Yeah, maybe not.

Andrea seeing me scoping in on them was a bit worried but said, "You better watch their back." I chuckled and said a bit in a casual tone, "I do have their back, but it seems like mother nature doesn't. There's going to be a cloudburst and the rain might wash away the scent that's keeping them from being mauled from all sides." Andrea was confused and looked up and saw a dark cloud above us and said, "Oh no..." She went over to warn the others while T-Dog eventually had made contact with the camp but unfortunately it was shortly cut off.

Rick and Glenn were a much closer to the construction site compared to what it would have been if it weren't getting a plan immediately setup along with speeding certain events up. We were the first to get the brunt of the rain and Andrea started to panic since she has been worrying about it over the past few minutes, she rushed up towards me as I was still looking through the scope intently and preparing to take a couple shots for Z-Points. She started to ask, "Will they be alright? Can you hit your shots accurately? They're about 800 meters away, how can you be so sure you can hit them?" I told her to be quiet with a bit of force in my tone, "I need to concentrate and you rambling can easily cause mishaps to happen. Relax, I'm sure they will be fine. They're almost there."

With Andrea being quiet, 30 seconds later the rain started to wash away the scent and I could see Glenn obviously begin to panic. They were talking to each and a zombie was about to maul Rick but I shot a bullet that hit the zombie's head perfectly, killing it after taking into account wind drag and other accounted factors.

Rick and Glenn were startled a bit but that didn't stop them from running towards the fence and hopping over it. I shot any zombie that started to climb over while Rick shot the ones that were close to getting over, I only had 4 rounds left to my rounds was gone pretty quick. Andrea was confused on why I stopped shooting and started to question why I wasn't, I reached into my pocket and took out a stripper clip and quickly loaded my gun before shooting 5 more rounds, effectively killing a zombie with each bullet. They made it to a truck and proceeded with the rest of the plan. I put the stripper clip into my pocket before telling the system to put it in my inventory.

"They're on their way, pack up and lets go." Andrea still being scared and constantly worried began one of her new signature moves, "What do you mean? They're leaving us!" I was getting annoyed, I prefer the cold and independent Andrea, "If they went the way they came, that truck would of gotten damaged and could stall from ramming into that many zombies. Now pack up! Does anyone have the key to the handcuff?" T-Dog quickly announced that he does and he gave it to me before helping the others pack up along with the tool box that was forgotten in the show.

I walked over to Merle and asked, "Even if you're an a.s.s, I believe you can do good. Come on buddy, lets go get you back to your friends and or family back at the camp." He chuckled and said as I released him from the handcuffs, "You're not that bad. How about we hangout sometime and kill some freaks?" I smirked and said, "Sure, maybe in the future though. T-Dog has to come along though, I believe that you both can mix." He scoffed and agreed. Everyone else was packed up and making their way to the ground floor, I quickly grabbed my bag with the things I asked for and rushed down towards them with Merle.

Everyone stood at the department store area, I took out a pack of cigarettes, opened it, took out a cigarette and lit it, before putting the pack into my robe pocket. Everyone looked at me with a strange look and I shrugged them off, can I not enjoy a cigarette? I've been smoking since I was 16 though my body doesn't crave it in this life, my mind does and I enjoyed it since it helped with stress for me. Glenn gave us the location of where we'll be picked up and the others ran like their lives depended it on while I walked casually not seeming bothered by the zombies that are about to break through. I made it towards them and said, "It was nice meeting you all, time for me to go." They were about to say something but the sound of a vehicle stopped them and they immediately started opening the door and started loading everything in before getting in.

Everyone was shouting for me to get, I smiled and said, "I'm not going, I promise we'll meet again." Ignoring their protests, I made a left; going the complete opposite direction that they need to take. My Kar98k is out of ammo so it was strapped to my back, I pulled out my blade and M1911 while running between the narrow alleyways before the zombies swarm me. Swiftly cutting through 3 zombies' heads, I heard the sound of the truck driving off and I knew my plans were now in motion. I used my kagune to pierce the concrete walls and climbed on top of a corner store where kids would usually buy candy while teenagers like myself would buy cigarettes due to the clerks being laid back.

"They'll be back for those guns with me as one of the driving forces, system I'm not cruel, right?" I said out loud to myself, asking the system whether I am cruel or not. [Cruel? Not at all. But you are manipulative.] I chuckled and began setting up my a website to stream my adventure along with a web crawler and bot to advertise on the most popular forums across the many worlds that has access to something like the Internet.

Something dawned on me, "They're going to need a grenade, right? Damn, maybe we will be seeing each other much sooner."
