A Chromatic World

Arthur followed by Aileen exited the inner courtyard led by Morgan and Margaret. They walked through another hallway until they arrived at the big spacious hall filled with stairs. Morgan gave Arthur no time to admire and keep walking towards one of the staircases.

Arthur and the other finally arrived at their destination, which is Arthur room that located at the back of the castle second floor. Morgan opened the room door. The room was not big but not small enough to make the owner felt claustrophobic. On the inside can be seen a single bed, an empty bookcase, an empty wardrobe, a desk and chair, and a window that looked out to the sea, adding rustic charm to it.

Aside from the wall, everything else looks modern enough at that time. Arthur looked at the room and felt that it's just like his room in Remy.

"Aye, this is your key to yer room. Don't lose it boy! And from tomorrow yer study will start in the morning at 9 o'clock. Ye can find yer schedule and map of the Academy on yer desk drawer." Morgan said while giving the key to Arthur.

Arthur received his room key, and saw Morgan and the crow Margaret exited from the room while saying, "I ave big expectation for ye boy! hopefully, ye have yer class by the end of the year."

Inside the room, only Arthur and Aileen remained. Arthur looked at Aileen that was carrying her luggage, confusion written all over his face. He was confused by the fact that why Vice Headmistress Morgan didn't guide Aileen to her own room, and asked, "Ms. Aileen? We're not staying together right?"

Aileen face flushed red by the question, "Wha- No! Of course not! I will be staying in the nearby village." Aileen denied the claim by waving her hands left and right and replied with a smile.

Arthur watched how Aileen reacted, and thought, 'I-i didn't realize that Ms. Aileen was quite beautiful...H-huh?" Arthur shook his head to get rid of the thought and turned his head after.

Minutes passed away. Silence filled the atmosphere. Unmarried boy and girl alone in a room, and even worse they're not even that close yet, and only just met today. Each second felt like an eternity for the two. Aileen was the first to notice the awkward situation, while Arthur just standing still in his spot trying to avoid an eye contact with Aileen.

"We-Well look at the time! I think it's time for me to go! Haha...ha...ha..." Aileen said while trying to break free from the situation.

Arthur was startled, and awkwardly said, "Y-yeah! Bye, Ms. Aileen..." After saying that he felt like something was missing from him, knowing the fact that he will be cooped up at the Academy and will only see Aileen once in a while.

Suddenly in a flash Arthur remembered what his father had told him,

"Remember son. Always seize the moment! Do what you think is right, and never do the same mistake as your father did in the past!"

"Yes, dad! And what mistake did you do, dad?"

"Well, that's for another story son— Now let's go to the farm before that old man Edward berates us for being late!"

Back to reality. Arthur tried to gather his courage and said, "Ms. Aileen...How can I contact you?"

Aileen was startled at first, but smiled afterward while grabbing something from her uniform pocket, and said, "I have something for you, Mr. Arthur, and please lend me your hand."

Arthur lends his right hand forward with an open plam and at the same time he looked at the smiling Aileen, and thought, 'Her smile is beautiful too...H-huh? What am I thinking right now??' He shook his head again and looked at the room ceiling after.

Arthur felt something cold in his palm. It's quite small, and the weight was quite negligible. Arthur turned his gaze towards the strange item. Arthur that had never seen this thing before had his curiosity aroused once more and asked, "What's this item called Ms. Aileen? How did this thing work? Do I have to put it in my ear? And can I contact you with this Ms. Aileen?"

Aileen let out a small giggle hearing Arthur line of question and answered, "It's called an earpiece Mr. Arthur. Yes, you put it in your ear and push the small button on the side to use it. And for the last question, you must find it out for yourself Mr. Arthur! hehe."

Arthur satisfied with his inspection of the earpiece, smiled and put it in his pocket. He looked at Aileen and said, "Thank you for today Ms. Aileen!"

Aileen smiled back and said, "Likewise Mr. Arthur, although we had a rough start."

Arthur awkwardly smiled hearing Aileen response, and thought, 'Woman do hold a grudge huh...'

Albeit his minuscule experience of the opposite gender, he was very familiar with this one, because he experienced it many times with his two sister-like friends.

Aileen checked her watch and sees that it was 17.30 PM. Shocked by the time, she said, "Ah, it's this late already! I'm very sorry Mr. Arthur but I've got leave already! See you soon Mr. Arthur. Goodbye!!" She bowed politely at Arthur and exited the room carrying her luggage.

"Goodbye..."

Arthur saw himself standing alone in the middle of the room. He took a deep breath and said to himself, "What a long day...Now, what do I do?" While walking towards the bed and slammed his body towards it.

Arthur laid himself on the bed with his legs crossed, his hand supported his head, and thought, 'I'm curious at what everyone was doing right now. I knew Robert will just wander all over the place and Jack would be fine on his own. But...I can't help but feel restless for the two...Well, at least Annie would be just fine and will not cause a big of a problem, but Ellie...I hope no one will pick a problem with her...I hope...'

Arthur reached his pocket to see what's inside and found the device that old man Edward gave, 'Now, let's inspect this device shall we...'

Arthur held the device in front of his face. From what he saw the device was quite small, the size of his palm. The device took an appearance like a thin black colored rectangular block. No striking decorations or even a button on side, the front, or even the back.

Arthur propped himself up and assumed the seating position, and thought 'How do I use this?' He tapped the device, nothing happened, he shook it nothing, happened again. He swiped his finger on the device surface and finally some reaction. The device was covered in blue mana lines for a second and on the face of the device, an image like a menu was projected. On the menu, it said from top to bottom, mission status, user status, communication, pair device, portal.

Arthur saw what happened in real time and can't help but to be amazed. He knows that the old man was someone that tinkers with an artifact as a hobby. But Arthur didn't know that he makes one as well, and technologically advanced too.

Arthur was caught up in the dilemma of choosing what should he check up on firt, and thought, 'Hmm...There will be no mission yet from the village, so didn't have to be bothered to check up on that. Communication...I'll contacts them tomorrow when they've already settled down. Pair device and portal not gonna bother. I guess I'll check up user status and called it a day...But...how do I choose it?' Arthur tried swiping it on the surface once again but nothing happened.

Arthur tapped the device where the user status at, and suddenly the image turned into something else.
