A Father's Duty

After I finished playing Bink's no sake, I placed the violin on the wall as I paid the system to renovate a part of the wall to turn into a violin pedestal.

I then opened the door and saw the customers dancing and huddled in front of my tavern. They were surprised as they finally saw the master of the place opened up as they went inside in an orderly way.

While they are walking inside, they praised me for the good music that I played before I opened up and asked me for the name of the song.

I have also noticed Makarov and Laxus lining up since they aren't undercover like the other people who dines in my place. I also remembered a memory of Makarov trying to recruit me to Fairy Tail that my predecessor politely declined because he doesn't want to be tied to any forces and just want to have a great adventure while hunting Dark Guilds and helping people on the way.

I quickly took the customer's orders and quickly made food for them. Sounds of gasp and delight could be heard emanating from the tavern hall.

After eating, the customers are considerate as they quickly paid their bill and left the place so that the other customers could sit down in their place.

30 minutes after I opened up, Makarov and Laxus finally got to enter the tavern. Makarov, just like any other first-timer, was mesmerized by the ambiance that the place emanates as he felt himself in a relaxed state. Meanwhile Laxus looks at the place with a bored expression. All he could see are different shapes in the wall and decorations, nothing more. Though when he saw my sword hung up on the wall, his eyes lit up as he started cooking up some mischief to try and wield the weapon.

The spots that opened up were the seats in front of me and when Makarov finally saw the face of the owner, he was surprised because he remembered my face. Although my hair got longer, he still recognized me. Though he didn't voice it out.

"Its nice seeing you again, Master Makarov." I said with a smile.

"Fancy meeting you here, kid. Who would've thought that you would become a tavern owner?" Makarov said with some teasing in his voice.

A man known for hunting and eradicating dark guilds, suddenly turned into a tavern owner? That's simply ridiculous... but here he saw me skillfully cooking as I play with the fire a little bit before serving the food to the customer that came way before them.

I returned back to the station and took Makarov and Laxus' order.

"What are these? So many weird foods. Do they even taste good? This place is even serving food for slaves." Laxus said.

Once those words were uttered, the place became silent that you could hear a pin drop as the customers stared at Laxus as if they're going to eat him, especially those eating curry rice and pork tonkatsu. In my mind, I could already hear Astronomia playing in the background.

Although some noticed Makarov, when it comes to the food I serve, they would fight anyone even if they are of higher position or stronger than them.

Seeing the situation turning grave by the second, Makarov acted as he closed Laxus' mouth.

"Apologies for my grandson, he just likes to say what is on his mind. Please, carry on eating. Don't mind us." Makarov said as the customers turned their backs on them and they restarted eating again in one peace.

"What should I do with you, we came here to eat, not to cause trouble. Nod if you understand, if not, I will not remove my hand on your mouth." Laxus nodded as Makarov removed his hand covering Laxus' mouth.

"Sorry 'bout that, kid. These food are new to my eyes. Just give me anything that you wanted." Makarov said as I looked at Laxus who is looking at the menu.

"I want this chicken in h-honey gar...lic sauce? Yeah that one." Laxus said as I started making their food.

After 15 minutes of cooking, I served the food to the two. I made a meal of balanced meat and vegetables for Makarov since he is getting old. It could also be easily digested by the body. I then placed Laxus' order in front of him as the aroma slowly wafted to his nose and he started drooling. Not wasting anymore time, they took a bite of their food as they entered utopia.

Makarov thought that he was in the afterlife because he saw the first master, Mavis, waiting for him there.

They were brought back to reality and they stared at their food in shock as the delicous food tickled their tongue, urging them to have one more bite. Giving in to temptation, they started eating like they haven't eaten in months as the customers stared at the two in satisfaction.

They thought that no one could match the food I make.

'I need to tell Yajima about this, I'm sure he'll be glad to eat in this place.' Makarov thought as he relished in the food.

Soon they finished eating and was about to leave.

"That was the best food I had, kid. Let's go back La- where is that brat?!" Makarov panicked as he felt a bad feeling about it.

Laxus carried his stool as he tried to reach out to my sword. He successfully took ahold of it and was surprised by its weight as he tried to lift it up causing an accident to happen as he felt like being dragged down by the sword.

"No! Laxus stop!" Makarov shouted but Laxus have already lifted the sword from its pedestal and is falling down due to the weight of it.

Fortunately, no accident happened as I quickly warped in front of Laxus and took the sword from him before holding Laxus body and placed him down. I put the sword back to the pedestal while Makarov apologized and tried to pay me but I declined.

Laxus and Makarov left the place as Makarov kept on lecturing Laxus about his wrongdoings while Laxus answered back at him.

I continued serving customers and soon it was time for the afternoon shift to finish. After closing up, I started cleaning the place for the evening shift.

While resting, I checked the farm and saw that the malt is already budding and the gr.a.p.evine is slowly crawling to the pole. Nodding in satisfaction, I went back inside and checked the new things at the store.

When I pulled up the store interface, I was stupefied. There are many locked things in there so I asked the system about it.

[Host needs to somehow let the system scan them to make a copy and modify it to be the best the system could offer.]

'So you want me to personally go to their worlds and scan them? But how do I scan them if it is already inside their body?' I asked the system because most of the locked things are Devil Fruits. Yes, Devil Fruits from One Piece.

[Host could use a random Devil Fruit seed and plant it and pray that you get a good devil fruit when it blossoms.]

'Wait whaaaaaaaaaaat?!' I screamed in my mind.

Its just simply absurd. Its rule breaking. Devil Fruit being farm grown? What kind of concept was that?! Its f*cking unreal! What if I get the quake quake fruit from the random seed, wouldn't it be overpowered?!

[Although you could grow Devil Fruits, because the system is still low leveled, it still have its limits. You could only gain the power of the fruit for a limited time period... but if the Devil Fruit you ate, is 100% compatible with you in every way, you could permanently gain its power, and the weakness from seawater is negated because it merged with your cell completely. Also Host should check the recipe section of the store.]

Hearing the system's explanation, I nodded as such broken powers should definitely have some limits. When I followed his advice, I was surprised to see Recipes that uses devil fruits as their base.

'Weren't Devil Fruits horrible in the taste department?' I thought in confusion.

[Devil Fruits from the system have no such thing as weakness and the system has removed the part of the fruit that makes it taste really bad.]

I nodded at it and continued browsing the shop and there are two things that spooked the hell out of me.

They are in the section of Crop Guardian.

Both were scarecrows. The problem was, the first one is the updated Fiddlesticks from League of Legends, while the other one is the scarecrow from Jeeper's creeper.

When I first saw it I almost cursed aloud. Back in my old world, those two spooked the hell out of me.

After that, I checked the herbs that I need so that I could use the Gandora refining manual, although a bit pricy, I could still manage to get it.

I also saw a random world ticket for 5,000 points and a designated world ticket for 20,000 points.

I then closed the store interface as I started prepping up the foods for dinner and evening shift so that it would be easier for me to make some food for the customers.
