A Father's Duty

After they finished their bowl of ice cream, the kids looked at me with expectant eyes. Of course, how could I not know what they meant?

"Pitou, Kagura, Erza, what did I told you if you eat too much sweets?" I asked them and they slumped down and Kagura answered.

"Our teeth will hurt...." She said sadly.

"Later, after dinner you can have some. Remember, having too much is not good for your health." I said as they finally agreed to have some after dinner.

After eating, the chipmunks were really sleepy after playing so I carried them to our bedroom. I had the head maid add another bed besides our bed for the children.

After I entered the room, I saw Irene sleeping peacefully so I put down the kids in their bed and told them disney stories and half an hour later, they were already sleeping so I fixed their posture and sat beside Irene.

"*Sigh* We really need to go back." I said in a low voice while c.a.r.e.s.sing Irene's face. Feeling my touch, Irene half-opened her eyes to see her husband with worried eyes.

"Hmm? What happened?" Asked Irene with her eyes half-open.

"Nothing. I'm just worried for you." I said as I c.a.r.e.s.sed her beautiful scarlet hair.

"I'm going to be fine. You know it. How about the children?" She asked as I stepped sideways and pointed at my back. She then saw the chipmunks sleeping and her eyes looking at the chipmunks with love and care in her eyes.

"Let me talk with mother, maybe we can leave tomorrow morning." I said as I noticed Irene getting thinner which is really weird because normally, a pregnant woman is gaining weight as the pregnancy goes on but Irene is the opposite. I have noticed that she is getting lighter by the day that's why I wanted to return. To feed her food with intense amount of energy and nutrition to sustain her pregnancy.

"Okay." She said as she tried to stand up so I helped her and she lied down beside the chipmunks before sleeping with them.

I left the room and started finding mother. I'm not a sensor type of person, it is one of my weakness. Unlike Irene who can scan a huge area and pinpoint them as long as they are on her radar. I've been thinking of training Observation Haki to remove my weakness in terms of being sensor but I don't know if it will work out or not.

Soon, I found father and mother the dining hall, and I heard them arguing about Irene.

"Are you saying that leaving Irene in that cursed land is a good choice?!" Mother said angrily.

"That's why I told you that we can go and check the place out ourselves. Our son have already said and shown me what kind of plants grow in his land." Father countered.

"Even so! In that cursed place, really?! Are you out of your mind, Regis?! Did abdication of the throne made you a fool?" She retorted. Hearing mother cursing father I've had enough.

"Enough! Cursed land this! Cursed land that! I'm taking Irene back with me with or without your permission, tomorrow! That cursed land you speak ill off, in a few years, I promise I will transform it into a paradise for my family!" I said with declaration as it made mother and father silent.

Although what I said is a joke when heard by others, Regis and Hera knows me. Although I became a father, they knew. They always knew that my adventurous side of me will always be there. What better adventure is there if not by tackling impossible things and succeeding in the end.

Making the wasteland, a paradise, is impossible for others. But with the Tree of Life in my possession and maybe travelling to Naruto World and learning Wood release, I could transform that wasteland into a Paradise specially made for my family.

"I apologize." Mother said as she finally calmed down.

"I understand your worries, mother. But put your trust on me on this one. Irene would be much safer in my home rather than here." I said in a soft tone.

"Fine. We'll go with you to see if the place is really safe for Irene. If not, I'll bring her back here." She said and left the hall.

"*Sigh* Sorry you had to see that, son." Father said with a sigh.

"Its fine... I need to talk to mother about it anyway." I said.

"Is what you said... about making the wasteland, a paradise, true?" Father asked me.

"Yeah. Though it would take me a long time, I need maybe somewhere from 5 to 10 years." I said. If I luckily managed to gain lots of things that could speed up its growth, then it will only take 5 years. If I'm really unlucky, then it would take a decade for the Tree of Life to m.a.t.u.r.e.

"What do you mean? How?" Father asked.

"Its a secret. For now." I said.

"Being mysterious now, eh?" Father said as I chuckled.

We chatted for a while and returned to our room. They are still sleeping peacefully. Since I have nothing to do at the moment. I went to the training hall. Its been a while since I've worked up a sweat.

I then started by picking a sword up and started practicing my swordsmanship.

While I was training the sword, Somnus was finding me to lend him the ice cream machine and let him study it. He was surprised to see me practicing.

"Brother." He said as I looked up to see Somnus.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I was about to borrow your contraption but I'm surprised to see you practicing. This is the first time I've seen you hold a sword when you returned. I thought you gave up on swordsmanship." He said as I simply grinned at him.

"Care to have a try?" I asked as Somnus smiled back.

"Sure." He said and picked up a training sword while I changed mine to a Bokken.

Somnus is surprised to see me change into a katana since I usually wield a greatsword.

"What made you change your sword style, brother?" He asked me before going into a stance.

"I didn't really change my sword play, but I felt using a Katana for now isn't that bad." I said as I put myself in a stance as well.

Both of us charged and when our swords collide, we both measured each other up and Somnus was surprised to see that he lost the initial clash. We separated from each other since the first round was just testing each other.

"Looks like the weight of your attack hasn't decreased at all. It feels like you're still wielding a greatsword despite using a light sword." He said as I simply smiled back. The next clash will be the true match.

When we both charged at each other again, our clash this time is a tie which didn't faze me at all because I only increased the force a little, and inputted in this clash. Somnus was even more surprised to see that he didn't manage to win the clash.

"Hm. Looks like you have a trick up your sleeve." I said as I narrowed my eyes and prepared for the last and final clash. A spar that we learned from our instructor always consists of three rounds. The testing rounds, The True round, and the Final Round.

And the final round consists of using everything you have at your arsenal for one clash.

"What can I say, I have learned a lot after being the head of Shadows." he said and prepared for the final clash. He used his full power as the ethernano around him felt excited.

I positioned myself as I inhaled a huge amount of air before putting myself in an iaido stance and closed my eyes to concentrate. Seeing my stance, Somnus felt that if he took this half-heartedly, he would definitely lose.

"Kaminari no Kokyu, Ichi no Kata." I muttered in a low voice. As soon as I charged forward, it took Somnus by surprise but his reaction time made up for it as he tried to match the speed and power my strike contained.

In my eyes, I saw his sword slithering like a snake but I'm confident. Confident that I will win the final round.

'Six-Folds' I thought as I changed direction six times before the sword arrived in front of Somnus' neck. He was shocked by the sudden turn and acceleration and even with his insane reaction time, he only knew that the sword is in front of his neck and haven't had the chance to react at all. He was really surprised to see that his brother have improved in swordplay.

"You really are unmatched when it comes to swordsmanship." Somnus joked as I put down my sword and sighed. My legs felt like burning because of the burden of six-folds plus its the first time I used it on a person. I felt exhausted because of the burden in my brain and my eyes. My eyes tried to keep up with the speed which made my brain send pain signals to my eyes to stop accelerating but I still continued using it.

I also know that this is a spar without any intent to kill. So I could not tell who would win in a real life and death fight between me and Somnus.

"I still have lots of flaws and weakness." I said as Somnus only smiled in return.

"Anyway, I'm here to borrow your Ice cream maker and let me study it." He said as he wiped the sweat in his forehead.

I waved my hand and the ice cream maker appeared and Somnus carried it in his shoulder and left me there.

To be honest, I still think that Thunderclap and Flash has lots of potential. I then had a thought. What if I could continuously use thunderclap and flash for a whole minute? I shivered at the thought.

Its not just about two, four, six-folds anymore, it has a time limit where I could continuously use it for one whole minute before stopping. I then thought of the burden it will have on my lower body, but I have the body refinement technique, with it, I could support the stress and burden it will have on my body.

I shook my head and gave a dry chuckle. Its all in the future. No need to think deeply on it.

What Noctis didn't know is that, in the future, Thunderclap and flash will be the bread and butter of all his techniques and his maximum time limit in using it continuously... is 15 minutes straight.
