A Father's Duty

After returning home, I slept besides Irene who noticed something different about me.

"Have you finished what you intend to do?" She asked.

Although what I said to her was me checking the livestock, Irene knew that I did not check the livestock.

"Yep. I finished it." I said as I hugged Irene from the back.

"Noct, the kids will wake up." Irene glared at me but I didn't mind and I kissed Irene. As Irene was pregnant, all we could do was kiss and touch, that's all. No backdoor. Its illegal.

After having our alone time, Irene finally slept hugging me while I stared at my children. I then started thinking. I don't want them to grow in this backward world. I'm not from medieval era, I'm from a modern era where everything is pursuing the convenient ways.

As much as possible, I don't want my kids to be baptized in bloodshed which is normal in this world. As for Pitou, she is a different case, she's the last line of protection I have for her sisters, she can protect her sisters if ever I'm not on their side. I want what's best for my children, any parents do. I know that I'm not the best father there is, but I still want to provide my kids the care, protection, and love they need until they can stand on their own.

I would rather live in a modern world without magic than to live in a chaotic world like here. I know Irene could understand me as she is a product of this kind of world. Though I said I'll make this place a paradise, I would just make this a vacation home for the family.

I sighed as I know that we will come to leave this place but not before getting my assistants to take care of this tavern to earn points. I already have an idea where to get them so there's no need to rush at all.

I slept through the night without problems and I woke up in the morning refreshed and all. The fatigue I felt after dipping in the concoction is gone as if nothing happened at all.

I already know that there are lots of people waiting outside but its not yet the time to open so I made myself and the family some breakfast before I started arranging everything I'm gonna need today.

I opened the door and the customers came in one by one. It surprised me that August came really early with Brandish.

"Good mowning, uncle." Brandish greeted me with a smile.

"Good morning to you too, Brandish. What would you like yo eat today?" I asked with a smile.

"Uhm... I want... Uhhhh... Uncle its hawd to choose. Pick what you want fo' me." Brandish said as I chuckled.

I took in everyone's order as well and I decided to make pancakes for Brandish.

"Uncle, what's this? This is soft! Just like the pwetzel gwanny gave me." She said while taking a bite of pancake.

Soon it was time for August to leave after eating. He then coaxed Brandish to stay here and he'll pick her up by dinner.

"Bad gwandpa! I don't like you anymowe! Hmph!" Brandish pouted.

"I'll pick you up by dinner. Just play with your friends here for now. I'll take you on a journey later, okay?" August said as Brandish reluctantly nodded.

After August left, Brandish looked sullen so I comforted her.

"Its going to be fine Brandish. Do you want to learn how to cook?" I asked her as she stared at me for a second before nodding.

I then started showing Brandish the basic stufff, only basics, like the basic equipment like knife and pan, nothing serious because I know that she won't take cooking seriously. It's more like playing to her. While I am teaching Brandish, Irene and the chipmunks came down and were happy to see Brandish as Brandish came down from the seat and played with the childrens.

Irene gave me a light kiss as she helped me clean the dishes which I stopped her but stubbornly helped me. Soon batches of customer came in and the tavern is the most bustling place in the WoD. Not like there's anything interesting in the WoD.

Nothing happened during the day as I closed up and started cleaning up the tavern. I then started buying a ticket to other world but didn't immediately use it. Instead, I went upstairs and talked to Irene.

"My love." I said.

"Hmm? Is there something wrong, my love?" She asked me.

"I will have to travel again. I will have to pick up some helpers to make my life easier. So I could take care of you while you're pregnant." I said in a serious voice.

"Can't you just hire someone?" She asked.

"I can't trust them. Besides they would need to have the strength to go out of WoD at night and there's no one who will accept a cooking job at WoD." I said to Irene as she is in deep thought.

"I'm coming with you." She said but I immediately rebuked it.

"No, my love. If it was before, maybe I could allow you. But you have another life inside you right now. I can handle it, my love. Trust me." I said as Irene wavered for a bit.

"Fine. Take care of yourself. How long will you be gone?" She asked.

"Actually, I don't know. It depends on luck if I will be able to find them easily." I said as Irene nodded and I gave her a deep kiss and one final touchy touchy before going.

I am currently at the white space as lots of doors appeared in my view.

"Use the designated ticket." I said and a door opened.

I entered the door and the sight of forest entered my eyes.

"Why does every time I am sent into a new world, I always appear in the forest?" I asked to no one.

Since I have no idea of where I was, I started walking with no direction. I didn't hold any of the weird things I saw in the forest because who knows what they are. I continued walking for hours until I saw some smoke in the distance as I rushed to see what it was.

When I got there, there is only one man in there sitting and cooking in a pot. He has a bandage on his head. Most of his upper body was covered in bandages and he wore two red arm coverings that even covered up his hands. He also wore short red pants with brown sandals and a yellow kilt. 

"Hm? A traveller?" The man asked to himself while looking at me before smiling gently as he said.

"Come, come. Are you lost? Do you want something to eat? Although the meal's pretty simple, its still a lot. Would you like some?" He asked me.

Of course I know him, he's the one who has the most op routine in this world. Aimaru. Yep. I'm in Toriko world and my aim is to scan those motherf*cking GT robos to be my workers.

Gonna speed it up a little bit. Yes, the family's going to migrate to a modern world. He won't have any interactions with the FT characters in the meantime because they are so used already, maybe cleaning acnologia as his final act there for Irene to cut ties with Alvares before leaving the place for good and would only come back for holidays and the likes.

I think I'm going to end my Vergil novel in one chapter and pick up a new project alongside this novel. It kills me if I wasn't able to write that kind of interesting story. There are many sports fic that emerged last month and I think I want to give it a shot. No not basketball, not volleyball, but boxing. For now I'll keep experimenting in free time so yeah.

I'm almost done grinding maybe 2 or 3 days should be enough and I would have time to write again.
