A Father's Duty

The next morning, Noctis woke up energized as he stared at Irene who seems to be sleeping well. He didn't do the backdoor because Irene is uncomfortable about it but they indeed have a good time. It is the first time that Noctis felt the inside of the mouth of Irene and it was blissful.

Noctis stood up and went down to make everyone some breakfast. After that, he woke up the sleeping Irene and fed her.

"Irene." Noctis said.

"Hm?" Irene looked at Noctis.

"Why don't we go and have a vacation, with the kids?" Noctis said.

"Eh? Its a good idea. But where should we go?" Irene asked.

"I don't have an exact destination to go, I guess wherever the winds take us." Noctis said.

"Why not? I guess the chipmunks would love to travel. After all its been a while since we went out of WoD." She said.

"Okay. Its a plan then." Noctis said with a smile. He then asked Irene to feed the chipmunks as he'll open the inn.

When he opened the door, he was surprised because he saw Juliet and Heine at the front door.

"Oh, the twins. What happened? You look anxious? Come inside." He motioned to the two and closed the door. He didn't let the other customers in yet because Noctis sensed that its an emergency.

"So? What happened?" Noctis asked.

"I-is mistress Irene, available?" Juliet asked.

"She is, why?" Noctis asked.

"I-its an emergency... the neighboring kingdom, wants to invade Alvares." Heine said.

"Heh~ August is out on a journey with her granddaughter, and Irene is out with pregnancy so they decided to attack when their power reached an all-time low huh." Noctis.

"It is as you said. The news of the wizard king going on a journey and the scarlet despair is out with... wait whaaaaat?! Mistress Irene is Pregnant?!?!" Heine exclaimed.

"No sh*t sherlock." Noctis rolled his eyes at Heine.

"Who's sherlock?" Juliet asked.

"Nevermind. So? What is the purpose of the two of you here?" Noctis asked.

"All of the Spriggan have to assemble because there's a war looming on the horizon. They can't track the Wizard King's location and they only know that Mistress Irene is living with a 'commoner' in the WoD." Heine said.

"Heh~ commoner huh. They are so full of themselves yet they need the help of my wife? I refuse! If they have any problems with my decision, TELL THEM TO COME HERE AND TALK TO ME!" Noctis said to the twins.

"But..." Heine was about to speak but Noctis shuts her down.

"No buts. No ifs. Should they have a problem with my decision to not let Irene go, they can come here and force me to hand her over. If they can't, then deal with it themselves!" Noctis said and continued.

"No wonder the Neighboring kingdom decided to act when the two strongest in the empire is out. Turns out the spriggan were just a bunch of weak little sh*ts." Noctis is mad. He had already planned of going on a vacation with Irene and the kids. Irene has already gained the approval of August to back out of the army and its affairs for a while.

"Tell them that the Wizard King himself approved of Irene's leave in the army and Alavres' affair. If they still want to oppose them, good luck on facing August's wrath." Noctis said as he let the twins go back to report to their superiors.

Irene hearing the commotion went down and looked at the mad Noctis. She rushed down the stairs and gave him a tight hug from the back.

"What's the matter dear? Seems like you're in a bad mood already. Come on, its just the start of the day. Lighten up." Irene said and Noctis calmed himself down.

'Why am I agitated? This isn't me.' Noctis thought as he inhaled and exhaled.

"Now, tell me. What happened?" Irene asked.

"Juliet and Heine came by, they want you back at Alvares. Apparently the neighboring kingdom wants a piece of Alvares. War is looming on the horizon. Your location was the only thing known because August cannot be tracked so they can't send a messenger to bring him back." Noctis said.

"Then I should..." Irene was cut off by Noctis.

"I already refused." Noctis said.

"But Noct..." Irene was cut off again.

"I know. If worse comes to worst, I'll make a move. If the spriggan's level is dogsh*t compared to the enemy, I'll step in." Noctis said to Irene and she felt relieved. She is worried for her soldiers that would fight in the war without their leader. But she is assured, if her husband is stepping in, she doesn't have anything to worry.

Just like how the chipmunks see him as a father who could do anything, Irene sees him as the husband who'll shield you from harm and blow away all your worries.

"What did you say?! He declined?! If we have problems with his refusal, we will go and talk to him?! Who does he think he is?!" A man with a brown complexion said. He has a wavy black hair and black eyes. He is currently dressed in a monk's outfit.

"Calm down, Polt. You don't have an idea on who you're opposing. You looked down on him because you are a spriggan? You might not know him, but I know who he is. In terms of swordsmanship, no one is his rival. I repeat, NO ONE. He destroyed dark guilds left and right and they weren't able to catch him or surround him at all." A man with a scholar clothes said, he is a little old, a bit younger than August. His white hair is tied up in a bun.

"So what, he's just one man, we are many. He doesn't scare me at all, Old man Jenkins." Polt said. (LEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY JENKIIIIIINS)

"You said you're not scared but you bring out the numbers? Aren't you ashamed of yourself?" A man with a short curly hair and muscular features while wearing only a black vest and pants said.

"Enough, Rhody. Let's talk about what needs to be done. We still can't track the Wizard King so Irene is the only option. Leroy, go and talk it out with him, we need Irene. Irene is the only one who can help us repel the invasion right now. We must not antagonize with that man or he will bring Irene away from Alvares leaving us to fend for ourselves. So at all cost, you must not antagonize him." A middle-aged man with a black flowing hair and blue pupils, wearing a long robe said.

"Consider it done, Khris." Leroy said with respect.

"I wonder how Irene managed to snag a formidable man. Maybe I should steal it from her?" A blonde woman with purple eyes and a s.e.xy body, wearing a dress said seductively.

"Don't think of stealing everything you want, Jeanne. Someday, someone will retaliate because of your actions." A black man with brown eyes and a big frame wearing nothing but pants said.

"Oh, jeez Marco. I can't help it. Stealing a strong man in the jaws of a strong woman and winning is making me tingle in excitement!" Jeanne said.

"Uhhh gross." Polt said in disdain as he stared at the trembling Jeanne.

"Anyway. setting it aside, let's plan out on how we will deal with the invasion of the Rain Kingdom." Khris said and they focused on making strategies to defeat the incoming force from the Rain Kingdom.

Damn, no matter how many times I read the manga of Yujiro and Baki's fight which consists of 50+ chapters, I still get goosebumps.
