78 Seaside

Yin Tao’s mood was somewhat downcast, and her heart was in a mess. She walked aimlessly along the road, and the cell phone in her pocket suddenly vibrated.

Yin Tao took out her cell phone. When she saw that the caller ID was Feng Jing, she immediately answered the call.

“Hello, Brother Feng.” Yin Tao’s voice was a little choked up. The wind was strong at night, and it was gradually turning cold.

“Where are you?” Feng Jing asked anxiously as he could hear that Yin Tao wasn’t indoors.

“Near Fu Ya Song…” Yin Tao walked very slowly. She was less than a hundred meters away from Fu Ya Song.

“Alright, I’ll pick you up,” Feng Jing said and hung up.

Yin Tao felt that the wind on her back was a little cold, but Feng Jing’s voice on the phone brought her some warmth. She slowly walked along the road until a black jeep stopped in front of her. Only then did Yin Tao slowly regain her senses.

“Get in.” Feng Jing opened the door of the front passenger seat and watched as Yin Tao got in.

Feng Jing turned on the heater and looked at Yin Tao’s depressed expression. He took out a piece of candy from his pocket and said, “Eat something sweet when you’re unhappy. The sugar will be converted into dopamine. After absorbing and dissolving it, it will stimulate your nerves and relieve your boredom. Your mood will also improve.”

Hearing what Feng Jing said, Yin Tao couldn’t help but laugh.

“What’s wrong? You haven’t even eaten the candy and it’s already working?” Feng Jing relaxed a little when she saw Yin Tao laughing.

Yin Tao took the candy from Feng Jing’s hand and said, “It’s easier for you to relieve your emotions by consoling others with a serious expression.”

Feng Jing slowly started the car. Yin Tao leaned her head against the window and looked at the scenery on the street. She didn’t say anything else.

Yin Tao felt that her eyelids were a little heavy and she was getting drowsy. She dozed off and it wasn’t until Feng Jing’s car stopped that Yin Tao slowly woke up.

“Brother Feng, have we arrived at the police station?” Yin Tao opened the car door and was about to get out when she realized that the cement ground under her feet had turned into soft sand.

“Why did you drive to the seaside?” Yin Tao was woken up by the cool sea breeze. Before she could feel cold, a thick coat was wrapped around her.

“You just woke up. Don’t catch a cold.” Feng Jing draped his coat over Yin Tao. Looking at Yin Tao, whose eyes were slightly red, he explained, “I used to like to come to the beach alone when I was in a bad mood. The sea breeze and the sound of the waves would slowly dissipate my troubles and pain.”

Yin Tao looked at the tall man beside her. There was no expression on his face. His facial features were still deep and handsome, but there was a trace of sadness in his eyes.

Yin Tao knew that Feng Jing had always been brooding over his brother’s death in the original novel. This matter was suppressed at the bottom of his heart, and every time it was dug out, it would cause him pain.

The two of them slowly walked on the beach. The sea breeze was slightly cool and refreshing, but Yin Tao’s mood became more and more complicated.

“Brother Feng, aren’t you going to ask me why I’m unhappy?” Yin Tao looked at Feng Jing who had been by her side the entire time. Looking at his hair that was slightly messed up by the sea breeze, she felt that he looked much more frail than usual.

“If you wish to talk about it, I’m willing to listen. If you don’t, then let it go with the wind. If bad things are repeatedly mentioned, your mood might become heavier.” Feng Jing understood this kind of sadness very well. He knew how to truly comfort a person.

Yin Tao looked at Feng Jing. His side profile was very good-looking, and under the night sky, there was a layer of indistinct feelings.

“Actually, it’s nothing much. I just suddenly feel empty in my heart and don’t know the meaning of my existence…” Yin Tao looked at the silent Feng Jing and laughed self-deprecatingly. “Do you think that I’m being pretentious all of a sudden?”

Feng Jing shook his head and said in a low voice, “Whether it’s meaningful or not, everyone is a special existence. They have emotions. They will be sad and happy. Existence is human instinct. Just enjoy your life.”

Yin Tao was deeply moved by Feng Jing’s words. She had transmigrated into a book from the real world, a novel that even she felt was melodramatic. Yin Tao didn’t know if there was still a chance for her to return, nor did she know if she was dead or alive in the real world.

“That’s true. I’ve been dealing with death every day. It’s already a blessing to be able to live well.”

Yin Tao had seen countless corpses and was gradually numb to the loss of life. Since everyone had to face death, they should cherish it even more when they are alive.

The sound of the waves was especially clear in the quiet night. The rhythm gradually calmed one’s mood.
