THE EASTWOOD EVENT

Discovery: On REDACTED at roughly 2:00 am, the ‘Eastwood Event’ took place. All communication with the area ceased at 1:56 AM that morning. Air reconnaissance reached the edge of the crater at 2:17 AM. The crater was determined to be approximately ten miles in diameter. The tip of an unidentified structure, possibly of alien origin, was discovered on the northeast quadrant of the crater base. Related Casualties: Zero directly associated casualties. All inorganic objects within a five-mile radius of the epicenter ‘disappeared.’ Organic matter was safely deposited on the crater floor. Minimizing Collateral: Analysts were on the scene within the hour to determine the nature of the event. No abnormal residual radiation detected. Canine units found no trace of chemical weaponry. Observation satellite records were reviewed with no useful information recovered. Care packages including food, water, and clothing for disoriented civilians were delivered within the first six hours post-event. Inhabitants of the former village of Eastwood were debriefed and entered into witness protection to maintain secrecy. In the weeks and months post-event, an explanation for the media was fabricated involving volcanic gas and forged photographic documentation.

UE 000’S BARRIER

The surface of UE 000 is enveloped by a protective energy field that repels incursion. For a detailed briefing of all attempts to breach the barrier, see attached document 000-D. Approach: First Contact was performed in as controlled an environment as was possible. Neither UE 000 nor its barrier react to the following stimuli: The presence of plant or animal life The presence of human life Greetings and phrases spoken in twenty-seven (27) languages The presence of monitoring equipment The presence of weaponry The firing of weaponry at UE 000 The detonation of conventional explosives Properties: The barrier admits all electromagnetic wavelengths, rendering it invisible and its contents visible. The barrier repels all forms of energy exceeding experimentally determined thresholds. The nature of this repulsion is nonlethal, as proven by testing with progressively more complex animal life including the voluntary actions of personnel.

RECOMMENDATION

It is unclear whether UE 000 caused the Eastwood Event, as the subject was not located in the epicenter of the crater, or if the Eastwood Event’s purpose was to uncover UE 000. The existence of UE 000 and the nature of the Eastwood Event undeniably forces mankind to reevaluate our place in the universe. Regardless of the perpetrator’s motivation, we know they aren’t human.

The monetary consequences of a second Event in a major metropolitan area are unacceptable. A scenario in which UE 000 becomes active and hostile does not bear consideration. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance no expense be spared in the research of the UEs. It is only through understanding that further disaster may be prevented.

UE 000’s dormancy affords mankind a rare opportunity easily lost through its destruction. Although analysts predict the on-site nuclear warhead is capable of neutralizing the subject, it is recommended UE 000 be preserved in the hopes of resolving its mystery.
