(Ice (Active) – Lv (1 - 10) – Once learned host will be bound by intangible forces to a specific plain of existence, giving the user the ability to connect to pain of existence. Depending on level of skill connection strength varies. Requirement: 15 INT, 20 SPR)

Gazing at the globe I was surprised.

Looking past the whole connecting to a plain of existence, the skill was an active one, which I had never seen before, and it had requirements!

15 INT and 20 SPR is a huge number. It would require a few levels for me to just reach it; it would force me to sacrifice my other stats to use. Looking at the description, it didn't go into the details of what the skill actually did. With only "Ice" Being its name, it was the only clue on what the skill actually did.

It would most likely give me the skill that mutant just used, although the thought did excite me, to shoot ice from my body. The skill would make me something more than human, I wanted to maintain what normality I had left.

But after everything that has happened, I'm not really human anymore am I. The evolution system had forcefully changed my body, and the increase in stats and levels would continue to push me towards something that isn't human.

Looking back at Ella who was enjoying her meal, I was realizing more and more. That I can't go back.

Normal people would have gone insane by now right?

Maybe they would have killed themselves. I had thought once or twice over the past few hours, how this all could be a dream or a nightmare.

Maybe if I die, I'll wake up.

I looked down at the blade in my hands and truly considered it.

It wouldn't hurt if I did it right.

Then I could be back with my mother and sister.

I don't know when Ella arrived in front of me; she had a serious look on her face. My body was slightly shaking and my eyes naturally got drawn to her face. She stood there quietly and continued to look on with her serious eyes.

A feeling of guilt welled up in me?

Guilt?

Why would I feel guilty?

Because I would be leaving her on her own? Did I have a responsibility for her?

I tried to say something to her after a few minutes passed in silence, but something stopped me.

As I continued to stand there, Ella finally moved. She walked closer and grasped my blade, that was shaking. My breath hastened at the warm contact, it calmed me down.

She hugged my arm and as the warmth spread, I calmed me even more. Resting just above her head was the cloth used to wrap my sister, more blood was splattered on it, but I didn't care.

Looking at it, I remembered why I wore it.

Why I was doing this.

I looked at it and then at Ella. After a moment of hesitation I broke the warm contact and moved onto my knee. I was about her head height now.

I slowly moved my arm up and unwrapped the cloth tightly bound to me. Taking it off, I clutched it in my hands.

Never forget!

I beckoned Ella to stand closer as I raised one of her arms and wrapped it around.

Now I was bound to her. She was my sister. I won't let that happen again!

All hesitation about Ella, infected, the world. Everything I would take it all in.

Ella seemed to be very happy as I stood back up and stored the globe away, I could use it later. Recovering from my stupor, I surveyed the room once more before moving on. I killed a few more regulars as I made my way back to the reception and then cleared out all the regulars in the south area. I killed a total of 43 regulars and came across another 5 of those mutants.

Instead of giving them time to charge their attacks, each time I ran across one I would sneak up behind it as fast as I could. And then kill it with extreme prejudice. I took another rest after clearing the area, I was dead tired.

Scoffing down the food in my backpack I recovered in 15 minutes. Spending the next few hours, I cleared out the entire floor and killed 110 regulars. They were getting stronger as I went and none of them were level 2 anymore. Other than the south area I didn't find any more mutants. They seemed to be pretty rare.

Near the end of clearing up all the globes, I had to make multiple trips to the top floor because I couldn't store them all. Although there were over a hundred globes, only 20 were pieces of gear. Still nothing new.

Is it that hard to find gear?

With so many kills my Exp sky rocketed up and I was only 2000 away from the next level. Ella had also leveled again. I increased her AGI to 20 so that she would have an edge in speed, it was working for me. And then put the last 2 points in strength, she needed it to survive.

What surprised me as I did this though was hyper growth finally kicked in. When I looked at her status to decide what to do, I noticed that her SPR had increased by 3 points. After eating more than 60 bodies, her SPR had been the one to increase. The effects of eating the mutant class showed its head.

With the globe drops I had been able to upgrade her gear as well, fitting a thick vest and thick pants over her beginner gear. Having her finally reach level 5, it would be a while now before she levels again.

Looking at the clock above me it was now 4pm, the sun would disappear in 2 hours, and I don't have time to clear another floor. It's better to leave it for tomorrow. I went around the 14th floor and jammed shut the staircase doors.

Moving back to the 15th floor I also pushed some heavy cabinets in front of the stair door. I didn't want to jam my sword through it, because of the damage that would be caused by taking it out. I moved towards the south reception where a meeting room was.

I had stocked up my food and water on the way and prepared to barricade the room. This room, that was located down the 4th passageway, was the most secure room I could find.

It was the last room of the corridor and was only connected to one other room, which then branched into the actual corridor. Meaning I would be able to hear if anything was coming my way.

I set up some things like heavy metal plates that would fall over if the door was opened from the other side. It should be load enough to wake me up and give me fair warning.

Settling most of the precautions it was now 5:30. With nothing to do in the room, I preoccupied myself by trying to talk to Ella. She had a higher INT stat than me, so it's not like she was dumb. I spent close to 2 hours just talking about everything under the sun. Most of it was explaining words and trying to teach her new things.

She seemed pretty happy about me talking to her, but didn't respond at all to the talking. I kept solace in the fact that every now and then, as I was explaining words, she would nod her head as if saying she understood. But I couldn't tell for sure.

As it closed in on 8 and I grew tired of talking, I went over to my bed. I was pretty nervous about sleeping, as the first night, I was out cold. I didn't have a worry about being eaten or killed in my sleep because, I didn't think about it.

This time however I was going to have to calm myself down, enough to sleep with the presence of death at the back of my mind.

I had pulled a patients' bed with little to no blood on it to be used tonight. There were a lot of spare bed sheets and pillows up on this storage floor, so it wasn't hard to find. Laying down I was having trouble closing my eyes.

When my thoughts were finally drifting off to sleep, a small figure slipped into my make shift bed. I almost pissed myself at the unexpectedness; I had let my guard down. Almost springing out of bed, I realize that it was Ella.

I had prepared a different bed for her and moved it slightly away from myself, but it seemed she wanted to sleep with me. Her face looked pretty haggard and tired even though she hadn't been through any battles.

My sisters cloth was still wrapped around her arm, and even though she had eaten numerous infected throughout the day, no blood had been splashed on it.

She seemed to treat the cloth with a lot of care. It brought a smile to my lips. Looking at her seeming so tired, I let her sleep with me.

Truth be told, the warmth from another body made it easier for me to relax. It would have been a lot harder for me to fall asleep by myself. She curled herself up to me and I fell to sleep after a few minutes.
