Chapter 28 - Better Times

I Woke up in my bed with a splitting headache and quickly scrambled for my phone, to turn off the alarm.

What time was it?

I didn't even remember setting a damn alarm, urgh.

Stretching out my arms and legs, I struggled to make myself get up. After a few minutes though, and no sign of drifting back to sleep, I got up.

Powering on my PC as I walked out of my room I made my way to the toilet. Finishing up I returned to my computer to have a look at it. It always took a while to boot up. When I returned to my room, the PC still hadn't booted up.

God what's wrong now?

It wasn't the newest PC, but wasn't this going too far?

Whatever, I'll go watch some TV.

Moving from my bed room I went to the living room. Passing through the door I spotted my mother cooking something, I woke up late so it was probably lunch.

Wait.

My face was wet?

Why am I crying?

I don't know why but as I stared at my mother, tears were streaming down my face.

As I started to wipe away my tears, she turned around and smiled at me. I was extremely happy for some reason as she smiled. Walking up to her, I gave her a hug, it calmed me down.

"What we having?"

It smelled good. But I couldn't place it.

"Your favorite of course."

"But I have a lot of favorites. Hamburgers, tacos, spaghetti, I can't even list them all."

"Well we are having all of them."

Wait what? I was dumbfounded for a second, what all of them?

That doesn't sound right. Then the next thing she said put me even more on edge.

"Your father and sister will be in soon."

I slowly let go of her as I was shaken. Father left us a few months ago, and my sister wasn't born yet.

No I looked at her again, she wasn't pregnant, and she looked like she did before father died. And after he died didn't we have to move house?

This is my old house?

Then what happened?

My head started to hurt as I tried to remember. It was a tough few months, but I was happy to be getting a sister.

Then I was taking the week off school, because mom was close to giving birth.

Then

Then….

It was a tough birth and…

My Eyes turned red as I stared at my mother in front of me, I remembered that she died. Even my sister didn't make it.

This was all a dream.

"What's wrong lad?"

The voice of my father rang out behind me as he clapped my shoulders. I turned to look at him; he stood tall and dashing, with his short clipped black hair and square chin.

I gave him a bear hug; I didn't know how long I would be able to see them.

He chuckled lightly at the hug, and showed a bewildered face, I didn't care if he thought it was a bit weird.

I told mom to forget about cooking and to just come sit down at the table. I also dragged my father along and started talking to them. I knew they weren't real, but I really wanted to talk to them.

To remember them.

After talking for a while another sound came from behind us.

Turning around I saw my sister, Sisters?

My first sister was wrapped up in a bundle being carrier by my second sister Ella. My youngest sister who was just born looked cute, with an innocent expression on her face, she was sleeping peacefully.

Ella walked over and handed her to my mom. She had a happy expression as she started to rock her back and forth. I smiled as Ella came close to me and sat on my l.a.p, I ruffled her hair and my hand stopped mid way.

Did I have a second sister?

Did I forget something else?

Ella pouted so I shook my head and continued to rub her hair. Suddenly in front of me, food was being arranged.

Didn't I tell mom to forget about it.

Oh well, I am pretty hungry. Deciding it didn't matter, this was a dream anyways, I reached my hand towards the food. As I started to eat, I realized I couldn't taste any of it, it was all bland. I can usually taste things when I'm dreaming. I couldn't help but let out a sigh. Better to talk more to mom and dad

Returning the food I had picked up, Ella handed me a glass of water, I could finally taste something. I was so happy I drank a few glasses of water before stopping. When I turned back to Ella she held out a different drink this time. It looked like red cordial.

"I've brought your meal Father."

I took the cup and looked at it. Meal?

Father? No she's my sister why is she calling me father?

And what does she mean meal, this is a drink.

Well she did give it to me.

I gave her a smile and started drinking the cordial. This was a lot sweeter than I expected. It was also a lot more viscose than I was expecting, it tasted like syrup as I drank it down.

But Ella was right; it did seem to fill me up, a lot more than any of the other food had done so far. Ella continued to smile as she looked at me drink, why was she so happy?

I finished the glass, it seemed to be bottomless, and it felt like I drank from it for a long while. Relaxing after drinking, I suddenly felt there was something wrong with the drink. But any way I looked at it, nothing was wrong. It was just something inside me was screaming that I had done something bad.

Looking again at Ella's smile I relaxed, I trusted her.

And as I stared into Ella's' red eyes I started to feel tired, I panicked as I felt myself closing my eyes.

Turning my eyes over towards mother and father, they were side by side staring down at my baby sister. They both had smiles on their face as they seemed to move further away from me. I tried to reach out towards them and say something, but nothing came out as they went further and further, starting to disappear.

Tears collected again as they moved away from me. I had to remember what they look like. How they look like, right here and now, in these good times.

Soon they were out of sight and I was left alone with just Ella sitting on my l.a.p. I held on to her tightly afraid she would disappear as well, but as the room around me started to disappear and turn into blackness, Ella didn't leave and stayed next to me.

Finally everything disappeared except Ella and then everything turned black.

*******************************

I slowly opened my eyes to a dark room. Squirming around slightly, I felt something cuddled up to my body. Staring down I saw Ella, and realized I was back to reality, ruffling her hair gently I reminisced on my dream.

I wished things could go back to the good old days, the better times. Before my dad died, before everything went to hell. I gripped onto Ella a bit tighter as I wanted to feel better.

Wait how did I get here?!?!

The memories of what happened before I went unconscious rushed back in and my heart race shot up. My body jerked on reflex and I sat up straight, surely waking Ella up.

What Happened?

How did I get back?

What happened to that last wolf?

There were too many questions rolling around in my head. I turned and inspected my injured arm, it wasn't broken anymore. Taking a glance at the shoulder that was bitten into, I saw that it was also back to normal. But two huge scars were left where the teeth had sunk in.

So it happened.

A small body rammed into me from the side, wait a minute.

Looking at Ella again, I realized that she now looked 16 years old, just slightly younger than me. Her body wasn't small anymore; she looked like when she stands up she could rival my height.

Standing at 183 cm myself, the difference from what I had seen last was drastic. Her hair was now hanging below her shoulders and shimmered gray, while her eyes had become even bigger. The baby fat she had on her face, was completely gone, replaced by an almost perfectly sculpted face.

Jesus when did she become a damn model? That's what she looked right now. Petite nose and red eyes gleaming, her face seemed to be glowing.

What the hell happened, how long has it been?

As if not noticing her own differences, she hugged me with a death drip and was smiling widely as she clung onto me. All I could do was sit there dumbly.

"Father you're finally awake!!!"

She screamed that out as she stared into my eyes.

What!?!?!?!?!
