Chapter 34 - Combat Gear

I looked at the globe in my hands it was a new piece of gear.

(Combat Dress (White) – It looks tough and can handle a beating. Should be able to keep you alive while being eaten by a zombie. Usually worn by females, can also be worn by males. I'm not one to judge.)

A dress?

Crushing the globe I pulled out a battle dress, the fabric was mixed with metal and sturdy, while also keeping the flexibility. It was a dull grey and didn't look flashy. Pulling out my new blade I gently tried slicing the gear.

Sparks flew out and not even a scratch was left on it. This thing was pretty good. Looking over its details again, I noticed that there was no resize function that would be helpful.

Hopefully Ella can fit it.

"Hey Ella"

Beckoning her over I held it up against her to see, and it looked pretty good. Removing the padded vest she was wearing I got her to try it on. Surprisingly the dress fit perfectly, it was almost eerie, I had her also take off her beginner clothes as even they couldn't fit underneath.

It was almost as if the dress was made for her body.

Once the thought dropped into my mind I couldn't shake it. Ella had just killed the zombie, so the gear that was produced was meant for her?

I had been wondering how gear would fit, after realizing that the auto fit function wouldn't always be applied. With this conjecture, it would mean if I had killed it a different piece of gear would have dropped. And that would have fit me perfectly.

I would have to see if that was the case later on. It would explain why this piece of gear was a dress. As I had been doing nearly all the killing beforehand, every piece of gear dropped would have been to my specs or meant for guys.

Fitting herself into the gear Ella looked happy and twisted around trying to look at herself. It was form fitting and went from her neck down to her knees. It ended with a shirt skirt that seemed more metal than the other parts. The edges gleamed in the light and almost looked sharp.

Reaching down to squint at them, I realized that the edges of the skirt was slightly sharp and would be able to cut through something soft. Nothing like a zombies skin though, maybe she'll move better through air? I don't know.

Fixing all that up we continued down the corridor and started looking around the place. Taking around 3 hours to clear out the whole floor, we ran into another 20 zombies. Luckily for us they were all walking around by themselves.

There had been one group that was a pair of them, and had given us the most trouble. I had to lure one of them a certain way while Ella lured the other one a different way. I pushed myself to finish the zombie off as fast as possible, so I could get back to Ella and help her.

With Ella and me double teaming them it had become a lot easier to finish off a zombie, they were still pretty dumb. I didn't give them any chances to get smarter though; I would try and finish the fight in 1 maybe 2 hits. Anything more and they might adapt.

One of the worrying things about clearing the floor was the fact we didn't find any infected, it looks like they had all become zombies now.

Having finished them all of we got a pretty good haul, I came across 4 new pieces of gear. Reading them all out, they seemed to be a part of a set.

(Combat Vest (White) - It looks tough and can handle a beating. Should be able to keep you alive while being eaten by a zombie.)

(Combat Pants (White) – It looks tough and can handle a beating. Should be able to keep you alive while being eaten by a zombie.)

(Combat Boots (White) – It looks tough and can handle a beating. Good for helping you run into battle. Minimal increase in agility +2 AGI)

(Combat Gloves (White) – It looks tough and can handle a beating. Packs a punch when used to hit someone. Minimal increase in strength +2 STR)

I had been able to swap out all of my gear and also get a pair of gloves and boots for Ella.

Once equipped all the gear matched perfectly, it was all grey with a certain pattern running throughout the whole set. It didn't look like a soldier type of get up and was more reminiscent of a knight. It had a metallic sheen and was form fitting to me, it wasn't as bulky as a knights armor.

Testing it with the sharp blade, it was also very sturdy. The zombies mainly dropped two things in each globes, so I was able to amass so much gear over only 20 zombies. I also scored another 14 entertainment point, not that they had been useful so far.

Ella leveled up again during this time and had me pick her attributes again; I would have to get her to do it sometime later. I couldn't always do it for her.

Looking it over I decided to add to her intelligence and spirit.

Having seen her growth over the past 3 days, the skill hyper growth seemed to mainly affect her physical stats. Meaning her STR, END and AGI wouldn't have to worried about. I would have to see if this trend continued but, for now I could just add to SPR and INT and that would be fine.

Honestly if I was playing a game she would be broken as hell, I mean her attributes will be higher than mine easily, and every other survivor.

Well I did share the hyper growth skill, but I don't want to eat infected and I don't know if normal food will affect it. The only time hyper growth had kicked in was when I was fed blood, it wasn't a good indicator.

I'd figure that out later.

After adding her points her status now looked like this.

She easily outstripped me.

Clearing out the whole floor, Ella spent some extra time eating the best parts of the zombies we killed. Not being hungry enough to completely demolish the whole body like the first one, she started to be picky with what she tasted.

That wasn't a good habit. Right?

While she did that I moved to the stair case and jammed the door, it was time to move on.

We still had a long day ahead of us.
