A God's Apocalyptic Entertainment

Chapter 78 - Speculation

My eyes snapped open as I s.u.c.k.e.d in a deep breath of air.

Where was I again?

I was confused for a few seconds, as I felt the warmth that was cuddled up next to me. Ella was hugging me while she slept. I was next to the fire pit out in the freezing morning air, sitting while I slept.

I couldn't remember what happened, until all the events of last night rushed back into my head. I grimaced as I wanted to push the thoughts out. I gave a bitter look at where Kuro had set up to sleep.

I could see her lying there with her back to us. I stretched my fingers, as I gently shook Ella awake. My hands were covered with dry blood, as I looked at the bones that were scattered around me. I had eaten a lot last night. I think we had gone through all the stock of wolves that we had.

I hadn't eaten raw meat like that before. I didn't want to eat meat like that, not cooked, bloodied. I didn't want to have that taste in my mouth.

It was something I always stood by. Having the skill imperial growth, and also the added on infection resistance, at any time I could have started to eat zombies. I didn't have to worry about getting infected; my stomach wouldn't make my vomit it up.

But I just couldn't make myself cross that line. I had been flirting with it as I consumed cooked beasts. It was like a normal meal that I would have every night. There was nothing wrong if they were cooked.

That's what I thought.

But after last night, after eating all that.

It wasn't different!

The memories of the taste appeared in my head, I couldn't taste a difference.

I was starting to realize, I wasn't human anymore.

And the worst part, I wasn't afraid of that.

Would I lose my humanity?

Did I still have it?

I pushed those thoughts to the back of my head, as I got up and moved to the stored globes. It was time to get stronger. These were the left over from yesterday, I was too tired to use them before. I started to crush them methodically, as I gained new gear and weapons.

I even leveled up again. I was now level 16.

The tattered gear that I was wearing, after the alpha wolf fight, was replaced with shinning new gear that fit perfectly. Too bad that I didn't get something different, but I wouldn't complain. Another good aspect was the fact that we acquired another few 'Proper Swords'.

With these, both me and Ella could kill faster, even giving one to Kuro would make it possible for her to kill. I handed 2 over to Ella as she couldn't use her bow at the moment. There were no arrows left.

Dealing out the gear and taking stock of my entertainment points, I quickly put our attribute points in. I wanted to head west and find out where those treants came from.

Ella and I had gained huge in the stats department after eating all those wolves and I was actually starting to catch up to her. Not much was left now.

All my stats were in the seventies and I was closing on my goal of 10k entertainment points. Not too many left before I could get the evolution serum. Checking my skills, many of them had leveled. Frozen Rage, Imprint, Regeneration, Emperor, Ice and Danger perception had all leveled. It was a testament to how tough the battle yesterday was. My luck had even increased by 2.

I had also noticed the fact that the exp required had increased again, I couldn't check while we were fighting, but it should have only been 650,000 points needed to level, but it was instead 800,000. It had increased. Well it couldn't be that easy.

I was very happy with my new stats, and could even feel the influence of eating all those wolves, Ella still edged out though.

Name: Ella Coltear

Her skills had also improved and her AGI had increased over 80. Though I beat her in SPR, it was a small victory, but still a good sign.

I finally had a smile back on my face, as Kuro stirred from her sleep. It took a little while, but she was ready to go within a few minutes. Finishing what she had to do, she got up and sent me a smile making her way over.

Ella, who was next to me, was almost growling as she made her way over. She must still be annoyed about last night. I didn't stop her and put it out my head, as I pulled out one of the proper swords.

Kuro had a weird face on as she looked in Ella's direction; she had no clue why she was being so hostile. I took the sword and thought about everything that happened last night. I thought about all the things she had said to me before and how this situation had all come about.

I was sure I had a strange face on as I looked at her, but all those thoughts just made my determination clearer.

Kuro tilted her head at the outstretched sword and looked at me quizzically.

"You're too weak. You need to get stronger."

I spoke out as I grabbed her hand and forced the sword into her grip. Doing that, I went over to the last globe and stared at it. Spending a few seconds, I then pocketed it. I would look at it after lunch; there was no rush, always save the best for last.

Kuro stood dumbfounded after I gave her the sword, and didn't move as the words seemed to sink in. She looked between me and the sword in her hand, before gripping it tightly, the smile on her face growing brighter.

"Thank you!"

She spoke out in a loud voice behind me, but I didn't pay it any head. After everything, I didn't have to worry about her having a sword. I knew for a fact she wouldn't turn it towards me. Well not until we were done up here in the mountains. And even then, later she probably wouldn't try and hurt me.

Plus in the slim chance where that happened, I had full confidence that I would be able to kill her, while taking no injuries.

I turned back to her bright smile and spoke seriously.

"Don't thank me. Get stronger fast!"

She still had her uses.

That was my final thought as we moved off and started our journey.

We headed east and ran into prowlers here and there; nothing seemed different from the day before. Of course we didn't run into any wolves, I was sure they wouldn't appear for a long time. Unlike the day before though, after beating up the beasts, which became much easier after leveling. We would then let Kuro come in and kill them.

It didn't affect our speed and instead increased it. Surprisingly after killing quite a few of them, over the hours, Kuro actually leveled and became level 11. With this I ordered her to put all her points into AGI so she could keep up. She was a bit miffed about the prospect, but I didn't care.

With the increase in AGI, which was 15 points she became a lot faster. We continued like that, with me and Ella eating while we went. With some of my aversion to eating raw meat gone, I had forced myself to eat without cooking them.

Like I remembered, there was nothing different about taste and I wasn't repulsed by eating.

Finally around noon we settled down and I set up a small fire. Even though me and Ella had been eating, Kuro hadn't and had become tired.

While we were sitting down, I thought it was about time to start asking her questions again. But this time they would be slightly different. I looked across the fire at Kuro who was chewing into a piece of cut meat and started.

"Hey Kuro. What other type of races do you think will pop up?"

She didn't understand the question so I elaborated.

"After meeting the Elves, do you think there will be more races? You know, like beast-men, dragons and the like. Like a fantasy novel."

Realization dropped into her eyes and I saw her thinking.

"I think all those races and more, like mermaids, dark elves, and vampires. I think the sky's the limit when it comes to the amount of races that could possible pop up. Who knows what that god might add next?"

I noted her words down in my head, as I saved all the races she mentioned. I nodded towards her and continued.

"Ha, that fricking god. What do you think the reason is he started this damn apocalypse?"

Her face had relaxed a lot more than usual at the casual conversation and she really thought hard about her answer, before she replied.

"I don't know the reason god screwed up our world. But maybe it's not him we should be worrying about."

"Oh."

My ears pricked up in surprise as I looked at her. Seeing me interested, she continued.

"Maybe that god, started this damn apocalypse, but maybe something else is a bigger threat at the moment."

"Hmmm."

I went into the think tank as I turned over her words, was there something else I should be worrying about right now?

Seeing me thinking hard about what she said, she laughed it off and said in an offhand manner.

"Yeah what's worrying is what my next meal is going to be, not what that damned god is doing right now. Hahaha."

My eyes flashed as I heard her words and looked back at her. I cracked a small smile and replied.

"Haha, don't scare me like that."

"Hahaha."

She continued to laugh and looked supremely happy about our talk, maybe it's because this was the first friendly chat we ever had.

I shook my head and stood up.

"For that we'll get going now."

"Aww!"

She pouted and scoffed down the rest of her food.

Getting it all down, she gave me another smile and walked ahead of both me and Ella. Turning around once she was a few meters ahead, her smile was brighter.

"Come on let's go!"

I sent Ella a look and twiddled with the small glowing orb in my hands.

I pocketed it and started to follow behind.

My mind wandering off to other places.
