Chapter 2:  Drag

Yan Leyang just sat there in the hall till the evening, doing nothing. During this time, no one had come over to provoke him. Although it could simply be that the prisoners of the entire planet had not yet reached the level where they would bump into each other with just a few steps.

The surveillance cameras had continued shooting the whole time as he sat there doing nothing. It’s not like this place is shooting a variety show…Well, in a sense it is. All in all, as a criminal, he was not qualified to look at the comments those people (viewers behind their devices’ screen)had.

He also didn’t have the leisure to care as he still had to figure out a way to live.

Like right now for instance, he had to go look for food.

The League had a specific area for the distribution of food. In fact, Yan Leyang had already received the notification regarding this, it was just that he didn’t go.

The Twilight planet was an isolated place which had more than 200 congregated areas with large clusters with hundreds of food distribution spots in each gathering area.

This was where the League displayed their stinginess. They never put out any extra food, Though they were humane enough to accommodate the taste buds of all of the offenders. There was just enough food for all of them to be satiated. If the offenders could act without any greed, they could all have managed to live together peacefully.

Of course, this was all under the notion that there wouldn’t be any greed.

But this was impossible. The thoughts in one’s mind was one of the things that a person had the least control over.. There would always be people who lusted for more

And this damn prison has this so-called “integral (accumulated points) system”. Killing someone in this prison would not be considered as murder.Rather, it was viewed as a ‘righteous action’ 1. Each person you killed would count as one point and those who had managed to accumulate 100 points would be able to get out of this place…though this was a feat that had not been accomplished by anyone thus far.

There were also a few ravenous guys who did not have the guts to fight with those with higher combat skills, choosing to only fight against the weaker ‘newcomers’. Moreover, there were no wild goods 2 that could offer a temporary solution to the problem. In this place right here, other than the supplies, there were only criminals sharing the same prison.

At this moment, Yan Leyang began to rejoice that his friend had simply erased the big cat breed animals from the existence of this world

Although Yan Leyang suspected that the reason behind this was because his friend was a hyena and he hated all the different kinds of larger sized cat breeds. The first victims of this hatred were the lions, followed by the tigers who got punished as well for being related.

This world was an interstellar setting. The weapons had all become things like mechas and starships which meant that being physically strong wasn’t very effective. However, it was way too useful to have a sturdy body in this prison

There were no civilized large-scale fighting arenas or ones similar to provide entertainment for them either.

However, the only problem that came with the lack of sophisticated weapons was that Yan Leyang—as a civilized hybrid beastman—had never hunted.

Although he was a big tiger, he was just a cultural worker. He didn’t have the so-called ‘wild’ instinct. Rather, he was quite friendly..

If he were to actually compete with those vicious large sized cats, he was afraid that he would die.

The reason why he hadn’t gone to grab resources before was also because he didn’t know how he should face all this. He was still confused.

Relatively speaking, the only friendly advantage he had in this world was probably the fact that Yan Leyang’s original form was still a tiger which he was still able to feel.

After sitting in a daze for half a day, Yan Leyang was feeling hungry.

At the moment, countless citizens from the interstellar planet were squatting in the monitoring channel of Yan Leyang, including the leader of a developed planet of the wolf clan——Hatchi. 3

Hatchi lifelessly stared at the screen in front of him. He watched as Yan Leyang (inside/on the screen) stretched out his hand and stroked his stomach. His ears quivered subtly.

The comments on the side of the screen were refreshed in real time:

【So boring. Is he planning on staying there till he starves to death?】

【I’m leaving, bye.】

【He has the guts to assassinate the crown prince, but he has no courage to go out and make a living for himself.】

【Probs chickened out, f*k. I feel like an idiot for staring at him for so long.】

【Actually, he won’t necessarily die. He looks handsome, doesn’t he know how to hug someone’s thigh?4】

【Please, is there anyone who hugged a thigh in the Twilight Jail that has had a good end?】

【Those who hug thighs are all being toyed to death. Frankly speaking, it’s to clean up tools and store gains. 5 】

Hatchi’s blue eyes did not contain any emotion. After roughly skimming through the comments, he looked at the person displayed on the screen: “Can I bring him out?”

The one that replied was his A.I terminal : 【That’s obviously impossible, leader. 】

Hatchi took a deep breath. Of course he knew that it was impossible! He had read this novel before, how could he not know the settings of this novel?

It was because he had read the novel that he knew ‘Yan Leyang’ should have been killed after entering Twilight(the planet). Heck, even the surveillance channel had not been turned on. Now, Hatchi seriously suspected that the one in the channel was not the original host, but his Yan-ge.

This prison was set for the proud heavenly dragon-like protagonist. It had nothing to do with ‘Yan Leyang’, this coquettish and cheap cannon fodder who should have left a long time ago.

As for Hatchi, he thought that he was also a bit miserable. He was just a husky, but now his identity had somehow inexplicably turned into the leader of the entire planet.

He was just a designer. How would he know anything about management? It was like he took a huge step to getting where he had the whole planet(to manage) and the step was so big that it nearly ripped his pants.6

Hatchi wanted to get his Yan-ge out, but he was a leader now. First, he needed to gain a firm foothold on this side before he could slowly come up with a plan.

Hatchi clasped his hands together in a prayer and spoke to Yan Leyang’s currently shadowy face which was displayed on the screen, “Brother, I’ll try my best to help you. You’ll have to try your best to deal with your situation for a while. Don’t blame me. Don’t blame me. I’ve got a lot of merits. Amen.”

Yan Leyang—who didn’t know that his great friend had also transmigrated into this world—scolded Hatchi in his heart. If he could go back, he would let the stupid dog feel the Siberian tigers’ caress (slap) off his dog head. 7

After an internal scolding, Yan Leyang put on his clothes and decided to sleep. He would just leave the problems for tomorrow.

Truthfully speaking, if he had the option, he would also want to take a shower. But he did not forget that he was currently being monitored, it was an all-weather televised surveillance system which made him feel extremely uncomfortable.

However, these sorts of details would usually…would be mosaiced online…hiss.. but he could also encounter danger when going outside to find water. He knew his own capabilities. He did not wish to get in trouble.

But the next day, Yan Leyang was awoken by the sounds of fighting. Mainly the screaming part.

Yan Leyang sat up fiercely and squinted his eyes. He was very annoyed.

At the next moment, he saw his surroundings and remembered the surreal experience of the previous day becoming alert immediately.

Yan Leyang crept over to the corner of the hall and listened carefully. There were only two voices outside, but Yan Leyang couldn’t confirm whether there were no other people outside who weren’t making any sounds.

The one crying for help was a man. His age was unclear, but he was crying quite miserably.

For a moment, Yan Leyang felt pity. After all, his past world was pretty peaceful. But soon, Yan Leyang was sober and even pinched his thigh.

Don’t meddle! People here are not benevolent.

And in Yan Leyang’s monitoring channel, spectators who had been leaving gradually suddenly came back, and there were even more of them than before. Most of them were here even before Yan Leyang woke up.

A few had come because Yan Leyang was likely to die soon and they wanted to see the commotion. A few others came because of the sudden fight outside.

The two men who were fighting outside were called Hu Dongtian—who was pressed on the ground—, and the other was Dai Zu—who was holding him against the ground.

Dai Zu’s original form was a caiman crocodilus which was quite fierce. Hu Dongtian’s original form was the Fennec fox which was almost as big as a cat and was considered to be one of the weakest groups in combat. He was already quite remarkable for being able to survive for more than a year on the Twilight planet.

The cries became more and more fierce, and Yan LeYang felt that he might not be able to resist (his urge to swoop in regardless of any future troubles) 8.

First of all, he was hungry. He had been starving for a day.

Second of all, although Yan Leyang’s temper wasn’t that great, he was quite patient towards those weaker than him. He was the type who would wait patiently even if an old lady were to cross the road and hold up his car for more than ten minutes.

He knew that the other side was not a good person, but this was like killing a pig. Yan Leyang was unable to control himself.

In this extreme dilemma, he suddenly recalled his chat with his writer friend before changing the script.

“Combat effectiveness? Ha ha ha, this is a novel, there must be a corresponding increase in combat effectiveness, otherwise how can the protagonist show off pompously?”9

“How much is the markup? Probably more than ten times the original form. All ethnic groups are the same, otherwise, the fights at the (end of the novel) wouldn’t be as spectacular.”

No, no! Even if there was a markup, he was just a literary worker! He hadn’t punched anyone before. If he were to really go extreme Mother Teresa-like (kindness/sympathy) and throw himself into the mix, then he would surely lose. 10

Yan Leyang was still restraining himself and urging himself to throw away the damned pity he felt.

Until the collar on his neck suddenly gave out a ding which was echoed by another two, almost overlapping dings from outside.

Crap! It was feeding time.

Outside, Dai Zu clearly heard the sound coming from inside. He stopped his fist, and looked fiercely at the abandoned hotel: “there’s someone [in there]?”

“Come out!” Dai Zu narrowed his eyebrows as he lowered his voice and threatened towards the direction of the hotel. “Hurry up! I’m counting to three.”

“One, two,” he was cut off before he could finish counting— because a golden figure had rushed out of the abandoned hotel and collided into him without allowing him to see clearly, causing Dai Zu to go flying with a whoosh11.

In terms of physics, there was a force which was followed by motion, and Hu Dongtian—who had been beaten for a long time— looked up, following the parabola (math term) of Dai Zu’s flying figure. And at the moment when Dai Zu hit the stop sign upon landing, he(Hu Dongtian) couldn’t help but duck his head hissing softly.12

Fortunately, Dai Zu was thick-skinned and got up quickly: “You motherf*ker stop (running)!” Almost without thinking, he left Hu Dongtian and chased after the golden figure.

Yan Leyang’s speed was very fast, but the road on Twilight planet was not that smooth. It was basically like a city that was about to be assimilated into the forest. Moreover, there was a ditch right in front of Yan Leyang.

Yan LeYang came to a screeching halt (basically emergency brake) and looked at the ditch which appeared to be quite clean with the bottom being clearly visible. He didn’t see any crocodiles or whatnot, then he looked back and saw that the guy was still pursuing him.

Yan Leyang didn’t turn back again and immediately jumped into the water. He was very fluid in the water and the depth of this ditch was only to Yan Leyang waist.

But Dai Zu, who was chasing from behind, stopped. He didn’t see Yan Leyang’s appearance clearly, however, he understood what he saw. The golden thing ran directly through the ditch creating an extremely big splash, yet its speed didn’t slow down.

It was as if the golden thing relied purely on a burst of power and explosiveness which was fueled by adrenaline to travel through the water. 13

Did this make any sense?

And Yan Leyang’s channel had been quiet since Yan Leyang had run into Dai Zu.

By the time he had finished crossing the river and started running towards the food distribution point with some panic and impatience, one comment appeared slowly.

【If I remember correctly, water should have some resistance.】

Basically this is saying that it’s like in one time/occurrence that he’s doing something else other than his specialty, it’s the whole planet. This is like a very huge change/step that it’s like he did the splits and is about to rip his uh pants/crotch area apart).
