A Necromancer's Journey

Chapter 10 - Mission Hall

Three days went by before Seth was promoted to the outer sect. Unlike the novels in his previous life, he didn't get a new room to live in and instead just had his privileges upgraded.

Seth had been thinking long and hard about which path of necromancy to take and eventually decided on doing all three. While he knew this would make things more difficult, he figured that if he's truly as talented as people have said then he should be able to complete it. Submitting his decision to his teacher, his class schedule was changed to incorporate all three of his new classes. His necromancy class was no longer useful for him as its use was for teaching the basics. Over the past few days, he discovered that his chip can retain information that he reads so he no longer lacks a solid foundation

Content, Seth decided to go to the mission hall and take a look. He quickly arrived before a massive silver building that had a sign saying 'Mission Hall'. Walking through the building's large doors, he saw a plethora of papers all over the wall and walked towards the sign that said 'Outer Sect'.

After searching through countless papers saying things like 'Bring ten wolf hides to the sect' and 'Make ten pills for the sect', Seth found a mission that was made for conjurers, beast tamers, and necromancers, 'Have a minion scout around the sect and watch for enemies'. the reward was a magic stone per month, and given that he was only given one magic stone for advancing to the outer sect, that was quite a lot.

Seth instantly grabbed the mission paper and went towards the sign that said 'Mission Receptionist'. After arriving he showed the mission to the receptionist and got it stamped and put a few drops of blood on it and received a special talisman.

"When you send your minion out to scout, make sure you use your spirit to create a link between the minion and the talisman. The talisman will keep track of your magic stone reward. The stronger the minion the more of a reward you get each month. There's a limit of ten minions per talisman."

"Understood."

Leaving the mission hall, Seth went towards a weapon stall located close to his building and spent his only magic stone on an enchanted bow and twenty arrows. The bow only had an enchantment that made arrows go 3% faster, but it still cost a lot. He decided that he would hunt for small creatures to help him scout around the sect.

As Seth arrived back in his room, he couldn't help but mourn the loss of his friends and roommates. Ever since they found out he decided to stick with necromancy they began to shun him. Deciding that it was well worth it for power, he grabbed a book on necromancy rituals and headed towards the forest three hours from the sect.

Like this, two days went by and he soon had another class to go to. This time it was a class on spirit controlling. During his two days of hunting, he found that he could exert his spirit and control the arrow as it was in flight, though it drained him mentally. He caught three rabbits and a sparrow and sold all but the sparrow, earning him fifteen bronze coins in mortal currency. The sparrow he decided to keep as a new minion, but he hasn't yet done the ritual.
