A Tale Of Wind And Fire

Chapter 1 - Prologue

Quiltanas closed the throne room door behind him with a heavy sigh, the dooming voice of the Fire King still echoing in his ears.

"My decision is final. Once the Moon Elves slumbers, the Elemental Realm will witness the execution of the Wind Sultan for treason," the Fire Lord declared.

"My Lord, history have shown us that killing a Supreme Immortal is a sin that the elemental balance does not take lightly. The Immortals are chosen by the Elementium itself and harbours a portion of its powers. You must reconsider, My Lord," Quiltanas implored as he bowed ceremoniously.

"Stand!" The king ordered. "It is atrocious to witness my own Hand beseeching the royal pardon to save a treasonist of the Realm."

The Hand of the King rose from the floor and dared not to meet his majesty's eyes. "Forgive my audacity, My Lord. As your loyal advisor I only want the best for the realm."

The King scoffed. "And if I did not discover today that the Sultan is orc.h.e.s.trating a coup, the realm would be in chaos. I am the pillar of this world. The guardian of the Elementium. The Fire Kingdom will not fall from it's glory as long as this is the truth. The Sultan dies tomorrow, so will his family."

Quiltanas shook his head. "And what of Vale, the Prince you have raised beside your own son? What will become of him?"

"The traitor's blood courses through his veins," The King muttered, a sudden darkness clouding his eyes. Quiltanas knew that the King considered Vale his own son. "He will face death by his father's hand."

"It is true that I am asking mercy for the enemies, my Lord," Quiltanas thought as walked out of the palace, into his own chambers. "But I am asking mercy for you, the greatest enemy of the realm. And for Prince Valir, who did no wrong."
