A Traveler's Legend: Leisurely Living My Life In A Normal World

Chapter 2 - Episode 2: Dragon, Host, And A New Life

When the man came to, he realized that everything around him is dark. Not a speck of light can be seen. It was so eerie that he felt so uncomfortable.

Before he could start to even panic or even utter a word, he heard a voice that interrupted him in his train of thoughts.

"It seems that you have woken up. It's the second time I will speak to someone in this realm," a voice that echoes all over the place said.

The man was confused as he started to look around. He didn't really worry about what happened to him. He's quite sure that he's already dead. With how so out of shape his body is, he doubt that he is still alive after that moment.

"Mm, what you think is correct. You are already dead. I'm surprised that someone would actually die because of such a thing," the voice said.

"Eh, sorry?" the man said.

He didn't know why but he felt like apologizing to the voice.

"No matter. Now that you're here, let's talk about your situation," the voice said.

"Huh? Wait... are you one of those Gods of Reincarnation or something!?" the man asked.

He's read various stories about this topic and he's quite fond of it actually. Getting the chance to start all over again in a place where you can meet your favorite characters. But, he was bound to be disappointed.

"No, I'm not a God of Reincarnation or whatever," the voice said blatantly.

"Eh? Then why am I here?" the man asked.

Come to think of it, this place isn't exactly a place you can associate with the place called 'Heaven'.

'So, am I in Hell?' he thought.

"No, you're not in hell. This is a place called the Void. Nothing exists here but me. I don't know when was the exact time I gained sentience but before I knew it... I'm already living in this place," the voice said.

"Huh? Isn't it tough to live here alone?" the man asked.

He just arrived here but he knew that it will be a nightmare to live in this place. Seriously, it would need a very strong will power to be able to stay sane in this kind of place.

"Exactly, that's why I have been bored since forever. I would occasionally go out of this place to travel around but no world could handle my power. If I stayed in a certain world for too long, it will get destroyed and I don't want that. Those geezers who call themselves as Gods will continue to annoy me if I destroy a planet once again," the voice said in complain.

"Huh... That's pretty tough. But... did you just say, 'Destroy a planet once again'?" the man asked.

"Uh-huh, I did," the voice answered.

"Uhm... can you, perhaps, not control your power properly?" the man asked.

"Yep, I can only so much as control a speck of my large power," the dragon said bluntly.

"So that's why. Anyway, why am I here? I can somehow remember you saying something about spanking someone before I died," the man said in a nonchalant manner.

He doesn't really care about his past life that much. It's not like he have something important there. Aside from his beloved animes nothing is left there that he would miss.

"Well, I have always wanted to go down the mortal world to enjoy myself there but, as you know, I can't control my power that much. So, I decided to get someone to become my host, much like my best buddies," the voice said.

"Huh? Best buddies? Who are they, if I may ask?" the man inquired.

The dragon has never had such a long conversation like this with someone so it continued to entertain the man's questions.

"They are those dragons that I met when I once visited a world that I know. Their names were Albion and Ddraig," the man answered.

"Huh? Those two? The Heavenly Dragons?" the man asked in surprise.

"Hmm, that's right. By the way, I find those stories that you had in your computer interesting so I excused myself and read it!" the voice said, almost sounding childish.

"I-Is that so? W-Well, it's probably gonna be important at some point so I guess that's fine. So, back to the main topic at hand. What is it that you want me to do, exactly?" the man asked.

"Well, I want you to become my host!" the voice said.

"Why me, specifically?" the man couldn't help but ask.

There are a lot of people in his world who died alongside him. There's a lot of people who dies everyday so he's quite puzzled as to why this voice wants 'him' to be its host.

"Well, that's because after my gear was continuously passed onto someone, from host to host, I finally learned that I needed a certain race to 'specifically' be my host," the voice said.

"So you're saying that I'm one of the members of the race that you said? I'm human, though?" the man said.

"Mm, certainly. That's because you haven't woken up your bloodline yet. It seems that you were hidden in that world for some unknown reason. So, in exchange for granting you another life and awakening your bloodline, I want you to defeat my buddies for me! Oh, and also to find someone," the voice said.

"Huh? Why do I think that your demands are increasing? Mm, either way, I bet I will not get another chance like this so I will accept! So, anyway, who is it that you want me to find?" the man asked.

"I want you to find a previous friend of mine in the past. She was a great friend, coming here to talk to me occasionally," the voice said.

"Mmm, that's certainly a great friend," the man said while nodding in approval.

"Since you're only a soul and you're protected by my powers, I bet you don't know. This place is deadly. Do you know why it has nothing around?" the voice asked.

"No? It's my first time being here," the man said.

"Mm, this realm turns everything around it into nothingness," the voice said.

"Eh? Then how are you still alive?" the man asked.

"Well, that is because I was born here. In fact, I get stronger by just being here. But, other creatures are not like that. Some who was able to come to this place disintegrated after setting foot in this realm for only a fraction of a second," the voice said.

Hearing this revelation, the man had an imaginary cold sweat dripping in his forehead.

"T-Thank you for protecting me, then," the man said.

"Mm, no problem. Anyway, who I want you to find is my first friend Ophis. She stopped visiting me after some time has passed," the voice said.

"Mm, I have already agreed on it. But, could I know your name? We will be partners for a long time so I ought to know your name, right?" the man asked.

"Shouldn't you introduce yourself first before asking others their name?" the voice said.

"Okay. My name is Shin, Shin Flammia. Now, what's yours?" the man, now known as Shin Flammia, asked.

When Shin asked that question once again, he suddenly felt that someone is staring at him right in front of him. Slowly, a shadow of a gigantic creature emerged from out of nowhere.

It has beautiful azure and jet black scales, bat-like wings that are at the span of a few hundred meters, and a body like that of a western dragon with a slim and sleek build. In the darkness of this whole realm, Shin could see those clear crimson eyes that are staring right at him.

"I am Coldwal y Glas. That's the name I gave myself after a few years has passed after my birth. You could also call me Yuki for short. I was called as the Void Dragon or Azure Dragon Emperor of Destruction by the inhabitants of the place I will bring you to. It is nice to finally meet you like this, prince of the Elemental Fox race," the dragon, now addressed as Yuki, said.

"Eh? I didn't know that you were a female," Shin said while scratching the back of his head.

"Mm, I do not have a gender, much like my friend Ophis, but I took this form after meeting with her," Yuki said.

"Genderless, huh... Well, Yuki does sound like a name that goes both ways I guess?" Shin said.

"Mhmm, now that the introductions are over, I will now ask to clarify. Are you really sure about this? Although you don't have much of a choice, either disappear forever or be my host, I will still ask you that question," Yuki said with a nonchalant attitude.

"Well, you said it, I don't have much of a choice in this. Besides, getting a new shot at life is a tempting offer for me," Shin said.

"So I take it that you agree?" Yuki asked.

"Of course!" Shin said with a wide grin on his face.

"Although I don't know why, I feel like I'm itching to fight Ddraig and Albion when you mentioned them," Shin added.

Seeing this, Yuki also showed a wide grin on its large face as it nodded in excitement.

'I didn't choose wrongly. The gentle and caring nature of the Elemental Foxes might be present within his blood but he still had the instincts of a male beast. Good, good, be prepared Ddraig, Albion! You will suffer for not informing I after enjoying yourselves for a few years!' Yuki said.

The dragon surely knows how to hold a grudge.

"Now, let's start your rebirth! A new life for you! When you manage to complete one of the missions I gave you, I will grant you one thing!" Yuki said.

Yuki then released a loud and deafening roar that was heard all throughout the void and some of the dragons in the world they are going. It was heard especially loud and clear by two of the strongest beings in that world. The Apocalypse Dragon, Great Red and the Ouroboros Dragon, Ophis.

The Great Red looked at a certain part of the Dimensional Gap before cackling in similar manner to how street thugs laugh.

"Kakakaka! That strong dragon finally decided to move once again after disappearing for a long time! Kakaka!"

It continued to cackle like a madman as it flew off to a distance. When it was out of sight, a girl with a short frame, wearing what seems to be a gothic lolita dress, appeared right behind it.

"Annoying Baka-Red. I will ask, Onee-sama to deal with, you," the girl said as it glared at the direction where the gigantic red dragon disappeared.

The girl then looked around the Dimensional Gap before saying,

"Onee-sama, Ophis will finally meet you again."

On the human world where all supernatural creatures are hiding their existence from the populace, a bright light suddenly appeared as a small baby wrapped in a piece of clothing and small pendant suddenly appeared in a certain place.

It was raining, so the cold temperature affected the baby. It cried and cried, seemingly asking for help.

"Uwaaa! Uwaaa!" the baby cried continuously.

While the baby continuously cried, a woman who was nearby heard the cries as she immediately went towards where it came from. But, there was something weird about this woman.

Despite the continuous downpour of the rain, the woman was only wearing a white cloak with golden embroidery to cover herself. Heck, the rain seems to be evading the woman!

When she arrived at the place where the crying was heard, she noticed a very adorable baby. The little angel has white hair with a slight pink ombre to it. The baby even had a prominent tuft of pink hair in its bangs. It is more prominent since the baby only have a few tufts of hair.

Seeing this baby, the woman took off the hood of her cloak, revealing her peerless appearance. A long and wavy blonde hair, droopy eyes, and irises that are light green in color. Right now, her beautiful face is showing sorrow as she looks at the baby in front of her.

She shielded the baby from the rain and called out to the Angels that are following her, despite her trying to sneak out of Heaven to look around.

"Come out, Zelel. I need your help in this," the woman said in a gentle but agitated tone.

After she called out, a woman with a long blonde hair like her showed up from the shadows. She had a straight blonde hair that reaches until her curvy waist and deep blue colored irises. In addition, she have this five pairs of wings behind her back that is white in color.

"Yes, lady Gabriel. Do you need me for so-" the girl, now named Zelel, trailed off when she saw the adorable baby on the ground.

She showed a pained expression after seeing that someone left a baby here in such a weather. She too had a sister that was just born a few months ago so she was affected after seeing this baby be left here.

"Didn't your mother and father managed to once again create a new bundle of life? Could I ask you to take care of this baby? You know that I can't take care of it as I have my duties to perform," the woman, now known as Gabriel, said.

Zelel was sighing inwardly after hearing her superior's words. Why is she strolling around so leisurely here on the human world if she knew that she has duties that she have to attend to?

"Understood, lady Gabriel. I, Zelel White Tenma, swear to take care of this child," Zelel said in all seriousness.

"Maa, maa, no need to be so stiff! I'm considered as your aunt since all of us angels were created by the Lord when he was still alive," Gabriel said.

"Got it, Big Sister Gabriel. Should we go to our home in the First Heaven? I'm sure my little sister Gabrielle will be happy to see you," Zelel suggested.

"Right! Let's go! I want to see Gabrielle-chan for a while now!" Gabriel said.

"Oh, right. What name should we give to this child?" Gabriel said as she looked at the child who she just picked up.

"Big Sister Gabriel, there's a pendant here. Why don't we check if there's something in it?" Zelel suggested.

"You're right, let's see what's inside," Gabriel said while nodding.

When they opened up the pendant, a name could be seen carved on the flat rectangular surface inside it. The name was written in english as it says, 'Shin Flammia'.

"Shin Flammia, huh. From now on, you will be called Shin Flammia Tenma. My sister will now have a new playmate besides Raphi-chan," Zelel said.

She and Gabriel then disappeared from the place after activating a magic circle.
