Chapter 91: Syndrome of Septicemia

Translator: LiamHW

Old Zhu accompanied Song Qinghan to his house, and as they reached the place they found Doctor Shi and Yuan Wenxuan were standing in front of the gate. Doctor Shi was quite surprised when he saw Song Qinghan and Old Zhu at the same time.

Surprised either, Song Qinghan stepped forward approaching while saying, “Doctor Shi, did Wenxuan do something wrong?”

He would think in his first consideration that Yuan Wenxuan had been a trouble maker messing everything up in Huichun Shop. And as an undertaker, Doctor Shi brought him back directly for a domestic interrogation.

Probably influenced by the deep-rooted Chinese traditional education from the modern times, Song Qinghan naturally thought that he was about to be lectured by a strict “Teacher”.

However, it was obvious that the truth was the complete opposite of what Song Qinghan had imagined. Yuan Wenxuan rushed over while spluttering, “Master, I’m so sorry that I talked too much today. I just leaked the news that you had cured Lord Zhu’s grandson…”

Seeing that the boy in front was getting blushed with a face full of guilt, Song Qinghan reached out to caress him on the cheek, smiling and saying, “It’s fine, well, it’s not a matter I should hide it up with shame. Don’t worry about that.”

Although Doctor Shi failed to listen anything out from what the master and his disciple were talking, he could still guess what they were talking from their expressions. He walked forward awkwardly and explained, “Doctor Song, I really hope that you won’t mind me coming so hurriedly here today. I was just over excited when I got informed that you had cured such a queer disease, I am just all eagerness to know what you’ve done!”

And after he finished the last bit of his words, he greeted to Old Zhu and then took a glance at Song Qinghan, coughing dryly and asking, “Lord Zhu, would you mind me visiting and checking your grandson out a bit?”

Of course, Old Zhu was well aware of the reason why Doctor Shi wanted to visit his grandson now. It was nothing more than to see how well his grandson was getting better and what medicine he used. However, he couldn’t promise at once since the whole treatment was involved with the other. In this consideration, he looked at Song Qinghan tentatively, as if he was inquiring him of any suggestion.

After being stared like that, Song Qinghan responded directly, saying, “Oh well, since then, Lord Zhu, would you allow me and my disciple to come too? I would really love to check out the current situation of your grandson, and then I can make the next plan for the ensuing treatment.”

Noticing that Song Qinghan didn’t mind at all, Old Zhu agreed happily. Eevn though Doctor Shi didn’t even offer any assistance of substantiality for the treatment of his grandson, it would still post promising to have one more doctor.

Because Zhu’s mansion was nearby, they walked directly on their feet. However, just as they almost reached the mansion, Old Man Gao jumped out of nowhere blocking the way, and saying with his face filled with rage, “Oh well, two of you are in alliance now? I wouldn’t have known the fact that both of you got a cooperative partnership if I don’t make an ambush! HA! How dare you to get me in trapped?! You petty kid, are you really going to stay in the same boat with that nasty old man?”

With an utter shock, Song Qinghan looked at Old Man Gao, and then turned his face to Old Zhu, as if he was now dithering over everything just happened.

Well, an ordinary person is never able to compete with an official. This was a truth Song Qinghan could tell. And it was a kind of principle reined both in the ancient time and modern time. Song Qinghan would never want to irritate such an old man who was possessing a great power.

It seemed that Old Zhu found out Song Qinghan’s current embarrassment and hesitation, and then he stepped forward and blocked the aggressive sight of Old Man Gao, while frowning and saying, “It’s really none of your business now, I do have something private in my family. If I really allied with him to get you embarrassed and in trouble, I will swear to Buddha to take the health of my grandson away, and let you smash our Zhu Mansion’s plaque. How about that?”

Old Man Gao took a surprising pause, as if it was totally out of his expectation that Old Zhu would take such a malicious oath to himself. No one was able to tell whether Old Man Gao was sympathizing with Old Zhu now or just showing his generousness boastfully, he sighed heavily as his eyebrows sank tightly, and then he waved his sleeves, saying, “Alright, alright. I won’t bother you this time. But what are you going to do now? I’m in!”

Old Zhu finally got a relief in his mind since Old Man Gao wasn’t being a brat at the moment, and then he nodded, answering, “Doctor Song is going to visit my grandson, come with us if you wish.”

After that, he seemed to have recalled something in his mind, and then he continued to say, “Doctor Song had found a way to cure Su now, you should think twice before you’re going to bother him again in the future.”

Old Man Gao put on a face of further surprise when he was informed by that, and then turned his face to look at Song Qinghan who was now standing still with a extremely calm countenance, stammering, “Is… Is that true?? Is… Is Su going to be saved? Then it means that they…”

He bit his tongue all of a sudden as if he was still immersed in an ocean of disbelief.

“What? Doctor Song got another case solved? Can anyone tell me about the details?” interrupted Doctor Shi before Song Qinghan got some words to say.

And then it was Old Zhu who pointed at somewhere in a certain direction, saying, “That one, aren’t you better aware of that?”

Doctor Shi looked into the distance guided by Old Zhu’s finger, and then he pondered for a brief while, and shouted surprisingly, “Oh, that one! Doctor Song is able to solve that problem as well?”

Song Qinghan was a little resigned by their exclamations while standing stiffly there with a smile of bitterness on his face, and then he answered, “I haven’t done it yet, and I can’t make a full assurance that I can solve…”

“Haven’t done”? It seemed that Doctor Shi got an expression of relief as he heard something like that, and then this old man seemed to try his best to suppress the excitement in his mind, saying, “Please, Doctor Song, would you please get me informed and take me there if you finally solve the problem? I’m, I’m just so curious!”

Elder Zhu was amused by Doctor Shi’s expression. And then he nodded and agreed, “Alright, alright. We promise you that we’ll get someone to take you there that day. Now just let Doctor Song go, he will check out my grandson now.”

As Song Qinghan took a sudden pause staring at the room in front, he was as calm as a freak since he knew he was about to meet Old Zhu’s grandson. He cleared his mind as his eyes got sharper.

Zhu Ying, the grandson of Old Zhu, was quite shocked and startled in the very beginning when he saw bunch of people cramming in. Song Qinghan then took out two lemons out from his pocket, and delivered them to the boy while smiling and asking gently, “Do you know what they are?”

Zhu Ying reached out to take over the lemons subconsciously as he could smell a familiar odour given off by them, and then he pondered for a brief moment, answering tenderly, “Are they the ones put in my water?”

With a bright smile, Song Qinghan praised, saying, “Well guess. It’s called lemon, it tastes rather sour if you take a direct bite on it. And if you want to make a prank on someone, just deceive them to take a bite on it, their reaction might surprise you.”

It seemed that something occurred to Zhu Ying all of a sudden, and then he smiled timidly, nodding and saying gently, “Thank you.”

Old Zhu was stunned standing there as he saw that Zhu Ying became rather obedient and peaceful by the effort of Song Qinghan.

It had to be mentioned again that since Zhu Ying got such an annoying disease, this poor boy had become quite irritable with an unbearably bad temper. And Old Zhu thought his grandson would be unruly again at the first sight when they came in, and he thought he should make a great effort to pacify. So it was totally out of expectation to see that Song Qinghan succeeded attracting Zhu Ying’s attention by only two lemons.

While Zhu Ying was playing with lemon, Song Qinghan quickly checked his body and moved to the side where he needed attention, so that Doctor Shi and Yuan Wenxuan could take a clear observation over it.

Though Doctor Shi and Yuan Wenxuan was quite puzzled about everything, they didn’t ask anything since Song Qinghan kept his silence while absorbing in the examination, they just stood quietly and kept every singe movement of Song Qinghan in their minds.

After the examination, Song Qinghan spoke to Zhu Ying, saying, “We’ll leave now, you take a good rest and keep drinking the lemon tea. And if the flesh lemon is out of supply, just ask your grandpa to get some from me. Is that clear?”

Zhu Ying nodded vigorously and answered, “Alright, I will keep drinking it.”

Song Qinghan subconsciously caressed the boy on the head. But then he realized such an action was out of etiquette, he got his hand off in a flash, coughing dryly, and then turned around and stepped outward.

Outside the room, he found himself was surrounded by two pairs of eyes with full of confusion. They were Doctor Shi and Yuan Wenxuan who failed to figure out Song Qinghan’s intention of doing so. And then Song Qinghan explained, “We’d better not talk about the disease since our current patient is just a kid. Discussing about that in front of him might hurt his dignity.”

And then, he got his expression sullen all of a sudden, saying seriously, “Did you two notice somewhere I pointed at? He gets his skin so dry, and also, we can clearly see some rashes on it and black and blue bruise spots on his thigh and shank, while there’s a tendency to bleed. These are all syndrome of septicemia.”

Doctor Shi nodded while making a connection between the images of his memories and what he had learned so far, and then it seemed that he had figured out something in his mind, but confusion still lingered in his eyes, he asked out of his curiosity, “This septicemia stuff, what is it? Why have I never seen any record in books?”

Song Qinghan pondered for a while and explained briefly, “We as human beings should take various food so as to keep our health in balance. We will get several unknown diseases in variety if we fail to keep the balance. You see, such a syndrome of septicemia is caused by the short intake of some vegetables like orange, tomato and so on.”

The penny dropped as Doctor Shi listened the last bit of Song Qinghan’s words, Old Zhu nodded as well. He felt guilty, as if he was so much regretful now for not correcting his grandson’s dietary habit in time.

Seeing that both of them were able to understand, Song Qinghan made an order to Old Zhu, saying, “As far as we can see from the current situation, your grandson is getting better now. We can consider adding more materials in his water. I would recommend add two more pieces of lemon pieces to four. Let’s observe few more days.”

Old Zhu stood there obediently while keeping Song Qinghan’s every single word in mind.

Old Man Gao finally figured out everything his own now, he approached and asked, “So Doctor Song, how long it will take for this pitiful boy to recover then?”

Song Qinghan did not give a vague answer this time, he explained, “He is recovering faster than I thought in mind. I would say he will be totally healthy again within half a year.”

Excitement just flowed out from Old Zhu’s expression. And Old Man Gao, the one who caught the jubilance on Old Zhu’s face, showed an expression of relief either. It was surprising that he didn’t even say something in a mocking tone, he just murmured, “Well, well, half a year isn’t long though, my grandson’s gonna to get a rival soon…”

Just as Song Qinghan was about to leave Old Zhu’s mansion, he thought of the silver drafts which were hidden under his pillow in his house, and then he spoke to Old Zhu and Old Man Gao, “Lords, you haven’t got the change back yet! Would you get me a servant and let him come with me to take the coins?”

Though Old Man Gao had already figured out that he was trapped by Old Zhu’s trick to purchase the lemon pieces, he still waved his sleeves in generousness, saying liberally, “NOOOO, the money I delivered is like the water I splash. I got no reason to take it back.”

Old Zhu thought so too, but since Song Qinghan insisted on paying them back, he could only compromise, saying, “Or maybe you can send us some goods of equal value. But I don’t think you have enough merchandise now, so I would recommend that you send them to us as long as you get some. Alright?”

Song Qinghan pondered, well, he thought this was not a bad idea though. So he just nodded and finally reached an agreement with Old Zhu, and then he went back home together with Yuan Wenxuan.
