23 – Club Advisor #3

The day after the club tour.

In the morning, I climbed the Opal Black class repeatedly on the back mountain and headed to the restaurant in time for lunch.

At first, it was called a restaurant, so I thought it was a rationed meal like in the military, but it turned out to be a buffet-style restaurant where you can choose the food you want.

The quality of meals did not compare to that of the military. Perhaps to satisfy the picky appetites of the noble students, each meal was prepared with a decent dinner.

I piled up a plate full of food, mainly protein, and sat down. As I was eating alone in silence, I heard a harsh sound from somewhere in the dining room.

“Instructor Lilya. Are you planning on eating at the student cafeteria?”

“Ah, yes… Is there any problem?”

“Of course it doesn’t matter! Shouldn’t someone who’s the equivalent of an instructor at the historic Fillion Academy eat in the same space as the students? If you’re a commoner with no roots who doesn’t know where you came from, you wouldn’t know, Instructor Lirya isn’t like that.”

“Ummm… well….”

“Don’t worry. I knew this and made reservations at a nice restaurant in District 4. Come on, let’s go.”

“No! No. It’s really okay. Don’t mind me and go eat.”

“Uh huh. You don’t have to be burdened. Because that meal is like a penny to me. It’s not polite to reject a noble’s request for a meal too much.”

It wasn’t loud enough for anyone to hear in a crowded restaurant. It’s just that my ears are much more sensitive than other people’s, and it’s a voice I’ve been familiar with for the past few days, so I heard it naturally even if I didn’t want to hear it.

When I stopped eating and looked in the direction of the sound, I met the eyes of Instructor Lirya with a troubled expression.

When she found me sitting in a corner of the restaurant, she looked bright as if she had met a savior.

“Ah, ah! Right! Actually, there’s someone I’ve promised to dine with. I’m so sorry, what should I do? Next time! Next time we have a chance, let’s go together.”

“What? No, what is that-“

Instructor Lyria walked away from Instructor Acheron with hasty steps, as if she wouldn’t give her any more space, and she came this way.

“I’m sorry. Am I too late?”

Instructor Lyria asked with a friendly smile.

Instead of blindly asking what she meant, I just nodded her head once.

Instructor Acheron, who witnessed the scene, blushed as if he was incredulous, but she hesitated for a long time before coming this way and eventually left.

After seeing him leave the restaurant, I calmly continued my meal.

“Can I have a meal with a commoner without roots?”

“Ah, I’m a commoner too. Don’t pay attention to Instructor Acheron’s words.”

“I just said it. I don’t really care.”

It’s not like I’ve seen such nobles once or twice anyway.

Since I’ve met many more serious cases than that, I already knew that ignoring was the most effective way to deal with it.

“Aren’t you tired?”

“Honestly, I am tired. But what can I do? After all, he’s a master of alchemy. His skills are certain, so we can’t kick him out just because his personality is a bit mean.”

Lilya let out a deep sigh and pulled her chair with her tray and sat down.

At the same time, her eyes widened in surprise.

“That, Instructor Graham. Are you going to eat it all by yourself?”

“… ? Yes.”

Instructor Lilya’s eyes belatedly turned toward my food tray.

The plate, piled with meat, was already half eaten.

“You did it all by yourself?”

“Not enough yet.”

I couldn’t bring enough to eat because the amount that could be put on the plate was limited. At those words, Instructor Lilya looked at me, unable to hide her astonished expression.

“I think you can still eat enough for 10 people right now?”

“Because my credo is to eat as much as possible while I can.”

Everyone naturally becomes like this after 20 years of lying around on the battlefield and experiencing extreme situations. I tend to eat a little too much.

I had already emptied half of the food tray, but Instructor Lilya’s food tray was very small compared to mine. Is it that I can only eat that much because I am small, or is my body small because of the habit of eating less?

I decided to pretend I didn’t see milk on her plate.

Anyway, I think Instructor Acheron’s way of talking to Instructor Lyria is very different from how he treats Instructor Lilya.

Looking at it with that meaning in mind, Instructor Lirya said with a bitter smile as if he understood my thoughts.

“Did you think I was an ordinary commoner?”

“Isn’t it?”

“You are a commoner. Legally.”

It was gentry. I nodded.

Gentry generally refers to the class of children of nobles who do not inherit titles.

Since only one sibling can inherit the title of nobility, children who do not inherit the title can maintain their status as nobles, but their children cannot inherit the status of nobility.

However, because of the general atmosphere in which even the gentry class is treated as a member of the family, the possibility that Lilya grew up like an aristocrat in a wealthy family was very high.

“The previous Earl Bennett was my grandfather. The current Earl Bennett is my uncle. That doesn’t mean I’m an aristocrat, so please just be comfortable with me. I hate being treated like that.”

I answered while calmly slicing the meat.

“Yes.”

“Wow… I don’t know what to say, but the answer is really fast. Well, Instructor Graham doesn’t seem to care at all whether the opponent is an aristocrat or a commoner. Even though he has the imperial princess as her student, he doesn’t seem burdened at all.”

“There is no instructor who feels burdened by students.”

“If it were easier said than done, I wouldn’t have to suffer… “

Instructor Lyria let out a deep sigh, then suddenly she asked me as if she had just remembered it.

“Oh right. She was going to ask this from the beginning. Did you have a good time watching the club yesterday? Have you decided which club to serve as advisor?”

Ah, that’s it….

I shook my head, feeling my expression harden.

“I think I need to think about it some more.”

“Yes? Why? Weren’t the students welcome?”

I was welcomed. It was a problem because it was so intense.

Not only the swimming club, but also the other clubs I visited afterwards were generally similar.

Aren’t you asked to play the opposite role by giving you a romance script with provocative content saying that you need acting guidance, or are you constantly receiving personal questions that are difficult to answer because it is an interview practice, or are you trying to make physical contact to correct your posture?

At that point, I was mentally exhausted and couldn’t even think of visiting other clubs, so I returned to the Opal Black dormitory ahead of schedule.

“Clubs with a lot of people don’t seem right for me. Let’s find a smaller club.”

“Mmm, it could be. There is still time, so think slowly. By the way, I heard that Instructor Acheron was rejected by every club he went to, and eventually became an advisor to the occult club.”

“Is that so?”

The occult department… Just hearing the name sounds like an ominous place.

I didn’t really want to know what the club was doing.

Students in the Opal Black class were gradually deciding on clubs.

It was decided that Schurz would be the first to enter the chess club, and it was revealed that Baatar was surprisingly well versed in sculpture and entered the art department at the recommendation of the head of the art department.

Saladin didn’t seem to be interested in clubs from the beginning, and in the end, she didn’t join any clubs.

Gwyn said that she was receiving love calls from all kinds of sports clubs, but that nothing had been decided yet, and Titania showed interest in the gardening club, which tends and grows plants, perhaps because of the racial characteristics of elves.

The other three female students will decide on clubs sooner or later.

On the day I thought so, Marian came to my room late at night.

In her hand was a piece of paper with the words ‘application for opening a new club’ written on it.

“Opal Black Class Student Council?”

“Yes. Each of the other four major classes has a student council, but Opal Black is a new class, so there is no student council. A class without a student council, Instructor, can you believe this?”

“So I will form a student council.”

“If it doesn’t exist, we have to make it. It’s natural, right?”

The student council of a class with a total of 8 members.

I almost laughed out loud, but Marian was right. Even if there are only 8 people, a class is a class. There was nothing wrong with creating a student council in advance, even in preparation for an increase in the number of students later.

I checked the name on the document.

Chairman Marian von Karlstein, Vice-Chairman Elisabeth von Galatea, General Secretary Oznia Hebring, Secretary Titania L. Elendrin….

“Are you the president?”

“… I know what you’re thinking, but Elizabeth said she won’t take over the presidency. That she was forced to do it.”

“I was just asking.”

Well, if Elisabeth had turned down her president, she was left with only Marian.

Even if I thought about it, I didn’t see Oznia or Titania as candidates to serve as student council president. Titania showed interest in the horticultural department, but she seemed to have managed to persuade him.

“Since Schurz and Batar have already decided on clubs, even if it can’t be helped, Gwynn is missing.”

“Since it is a new student council, I plan to have only female students as the initial members. Wouldn’t it be a little uncomfortable for Gwynn to be alone among the female students?”

What do you mean?

I thought it was a joke for a moment, but Marianne’s expression was very serious.

Ah, I don’t know. It’s been a few days since the semester started, and I haven’t noticed it yet.

I thought I might not know if he hadn’t told me.

Because Gwynn wears pants instead of a skirt for the reason of being comfortable to move around, and always uses a private shower room when taking a shower, people who are not familiar with Gwynn may misunderstand. Besides, she must have been even more so because she herself deliberately uses a masculine tone.

I decided to tell Marian the truth about her.

“Marian. She Gwynn is a woman.”

“… Yes? She says Gwynn is a woman?”

“Yes. Did she really not know?”

Marian’s expression was tinged with astonishment. She tried to deny it at first, like someone who had heard a joke, but when she saw my expression of infinite seriousness, she realized that she wasn’t joking, and she was stunned.

“I had no idea… no, is it real? Aren’t you kidding?”

“I guess you didn’t tell me. Gwynn Triss is a woman.”

“My God….”

Marian was shocked and covered her mouth with both hands.

When Marian learned the shocking truth about her, she clutched her head and grunted dizzy, then she said as she managed to keep her mind together.

“Yes, I see. All right. Decided to slowly think about bringing Gwynn to her student council… But that’s not what’s important now.”

Marian raised her red lips and smiled as she pointed to the blank piece of paper that said She was Club Advisor.

“Will you take care of it? Instructor Ion.”

“… ….”

As long as you become an instructor anyway, one of them has to take charge of the club advisor.

The new Student Council needs an instructor to act as an advisor. And the Opal Black class has only one instructor.

There is no reason or justification for refusal.

“Okay. I’ll take care of it.”

What Marian brought was an offer she could not refuse.

As a result, I became the advisor in charge of the all-female Opal Black class student council.
