5 – Unexpected Encounter #2

Karlstein’s mansion was proudly located in the middle of District 2, where only the highest-ranking nobles in the capital were allowed to live.

Unlike Marquis Karlstein, who was the model of a soldier with an easy-going personality, Marquis Karlstein thought that she should show off the dignity of the nobility with the estates, manors, and splendid mansions they manage.

The reason why the majority of the nobility of the Islands respect the name Karlstein is not only because of the feats of the Marquis Karlstein in the last war, but also because after decades of being on the battlefield and returning once or twice a year, the Marquisess takes the place of her fortunate husband. It was also because he had a tight grip on the world of society.

After passing through the beautiful gardens and splendid fountains maintained daily by a skilled gardener, a magnificent mansion that can comfortably accommodate hundreds of people is revealed.

The lobby was decorated with gorgeous magic candlesticks and chandeliers, giving off a warm and soft light throughout the mansion, and the inside of the mansion, where dozens of maids were busy roaming around, was always kept clean without a speck of dust.

In such a splendid and beautiful mansion, Marianne von Karlstein was nervously shaking her legs.

“My lady. This is a vulgar act.”

“But… But! The sun has already set! Even if we arrive, isn’t it time to arrive early!?”

Marian looked at herself in her mirror. Apply creams and oils to make your skin extremely moist and smooth. Her skin, which was originally white, had been powdered and shone as white as milk even in the soft moonlight.

Her hair, which was beautifully braided to create her elegant and neat atmosphere, took two hours to get attached to by her five maids. The color of her dress and the earrings, bracelets and necklaces were also carefully chosen to impress her.

Some people don’t like it if it looks too much, so she spent three hours trying to find the perfect balance of minimal jewelry to match the delicate wine-colored dress, but not too little.

Marian in the mirror was as beautiful as a goddess incarnated on earth, befitting her nickname of the flower of society. She was considered blasphemous as a follower of the Goddess, but she was so beautiful that, frankly, even in Marianne’s eyes, she was confident that she would not be inferior to those who descended directly from the Goddess.

Yes. Everything was perfect Except for the fact that no man came to the mansion to look after this.

“Why! Why aren’t you coming! He said he was coming! Didn’t you say you were coming!?”

“Ah, lady! Please take care of yourself!”

Marian gently put down her pottery, which she was about to throw, with her beautiful brow twisted. Okay, let’s calm down. Such a rough appearance doesn’t suit the beautiful me. Calm down and count the few. Even Fillion the Great said that counting in primes helped when he calmed down….

“No, but why aren’t you coming!!”

“Lady-!”

It started with a letter from Zeegler. A letter with the surprising content that the famous hero of the 7 continents will be going to Jedo soon since he is going to teach students in Fillion. Upon hearing the message from the Marquis of Karlstein that she had informed her of the address of her mansion, Marianne prepared to welcome her guests with all her heart and sincerity.

It was half a day ago that she got a call from the Islands Gendarmerie that a soldier named Ion Graham had passed through the gate. Originally, privately operating the systemic gendarmerie is a felony, but since my grandfather was the commander-in-chief of the Imperial Army, it was a trivial request to ask for a word from this side when he passed through the gate.

It was a name he had heard from his grandfather to the point of exhaustion, and honestly, as a citizen of the Empire, he was genuinely admirable when he heard the achievements he had made. When I think of how many people in the Empire, or even all the people on the continent, have been saved thanks to him, I can even feel a heartfelt gratitude.

But that’s it and this is this. Grandpa seems to be thinking of putting me with him for some reason, but Marian von Karlstein isn’t a woman to be passed on so easily. She was going to overwhelm herself in the beginning and learn more about whether she would suit her husband step by step….

“How dare you hit me? Me, Marian von Karlstein? What a handsome man you are.”

Marian shouted as she tore off the hair that the five maids had put so much effort into creating.

Actually, there was some misunderstanding. Marquis Karlstein said, “I have given you the address,” But did not say that Ion would go to the address that Ion had given you. Even Marquis Karlstein himself, who wrote the letter, knew Ion’s personality, so he probably didn’t expect much.

But Marian, who received the letter, was naturally mistaken. Marian bit his fingernails, killing him.

“Ion Graham… wait and see You will definitely regret this. Someday, I will make you cry and cling to me!”

It was a promise that would be absurd if Ion himself heard it.

The driver’s words about the room being clean were pretty much true. It was a bare room with nothing but a bed, but I didn’t want more than that, and the duvet was washed regularly and there was no foreign matter except for the musty smell.

What I liked most of all was that breakfast was included and the price was very affordable.

After a good night’s rest, I came down to the first floor, and I smelled a savory smell from the kitchen, as if breakfast was being prepared. I took a seat at a table in the corner, and soon a blonde woman came up to me with her plate and her glass.

Syruped pancakes and steaming coffee. It was an excellent breakfast menu that did not match the name of the inn, which seemed like something you would drink vodka in the morning.

“Enjoy your meal.”

I look at the swaying blonde hair of a woman smiling and leaving. To begin with, her name was Daisy, not Ella.

Did the Emperor Philion say that she was surprised to see the lid of her chest when she grew up? As she was thinking about Ella, she saw someone similar to Ella and was just astonished.

In my memory, Ella had blonde hair that sparkled like a squeeze of honey. Daisy’s blonde hair is a bit darker than that, and her eyes are decidedly green. She was just mistaken for a moment because she was at night, but when she looked at it in the bright daylight, she could clearly feel the difference.

She

She thought she forgot everything. The fact that the place was an inn must have brought back bad memories. As I silently emptied the plate, the waiter took a teapot and filled the empty coffee cup.

“Can I get refills?”

“It’s a service.”

The waitress left with a refreshing smile and a wink in one of her eyes. I took a sip of coffee and nodded. I don’t know about the alcohol, but the coffee was definitely delicious.

Then the inn’s old hinged door creaked and three men entered the inn. As soon as I entered with a cheeky attitude, the eyes that looked around me quickly did not look like I had come for breakfast. The tallest man of the three trudged to the waiter. The other two guarded the entrance.

“Where did the man who used to work here go?”

“Yes? Sue, Uncle is not feeling well. In the meantime, I decided to take over.”

As the stern-looking man approached, of course the waitress stuttered as if frightened and opened her mouth. The man smiled slyly, rubbing his thick lower chin with an expression of well-being.

“Hmm… okay? I want to ask you some questions.”

The man inquired if anything strange had happened around him recently, and if any of his guests looked suspicious. He looked like a gangster, so it was a question that would have been asked by the military police, but the man’s behavior did not stop there. When the waitress showed disapproval at the man’s request to look around the inn, the man’s expression changed in an instant.

“Is this suspicious? Should I do a body search?”

“This is difficult… Wow!”

The man grabbed the employee’s wrist with his thick hand. I think it was more of an excuse. The waitress was a rare beauty in this area, and seeing such a beautiful woman with a terrified expression in front of her only stimulated the man’s black lust. All the other guests at the inn averted their gaze, as if they didn’t want to get involved in their tiring business.

I put down my empty coffee cup and got up. And calmly approached the man holding the employee. The man looked this way with an expression of wanting to know what he was doing at the leisurely step that was so far away from the surrounding situation.

“What are you? If you’re thinking of being a knight, just get out of here.”

I had to change my clothes in the morning and now I was an ordinary passerby wearing only a travel coat. If he had been wearing a military uniform, he would have left quietly. I let out a short sigh.

I didn’t say the cliché to let go of that hand. A guy who can be easily persuaded by words won’t act like this. Instead, I grabbed the wrist of the man who was holding the employee’s wrist and gave his hand a gentle force.

“What… aaagh!!”

Oddly enough, the sound of bones breaking was heard and the man screamed in pain. Taking advantage of the lack of strength in the man’s hand, the waitress pulled out his wrist, and the two thugs guarding the entrance ran toward him with shocked faces.

“Brother?! No, this bastard!”

“You bastard! Do you want to go back!!”

A situation surrounded by three sturdy men would be a situation in which an ordinary person would feel life-threatening. However, compared to the demons who relentlessly sought my life on the battlefield, the thugs were slow enough to make me yawn.

I grabbed the man by the wrist and quickly struck the back of the neck with the blade of my hand. Uh huh With a smile on his face, his massive body leaned forward and attacked one of the running thugs like a domino. When the other one slipped his leg, he lost his balance and fell.

“Kuk!”

Just in time, a chair was placed in an exquisite position, and the gangster passed out by hitting his head squarely on the chair. It took only one blink of an eye for the three men to collapse like straw puppets.

At that time, one of the thugs, who had been under the weight of his body, tried to escape with a grunt. However, he looked up at me and raised his voice for no reason, as if he didn’t have the strength to defeat the brother.

“You bastard! Do you know who we are? You remembered my face! Revenge for sure… Hick! Whoa!!”

I lightly stepped on the noisy head. That alone made the man roll over his eyes and pass out. In an instant, the interior of the inn was tinged with silence.

Leaving behind the bewildered employee, I slung the two men over my shoulders and threw the big guy around like garbage outside the inn. As the three stunned men rolled on the dirty mud floor, the eyes of passersby focused on me for a moment.

“Call the drafting gendarmerie. He will take good care of it.”

“Ah… Go, thank you!”

I left the inn waving without answering.
