68 – Victory Day #2

The day after.

I was called by President Heinkel and headed to the conference room.

I wasn’t the only one gathered in the meeting room. All the instructors in charge of the first year were gathered in their seats.

When I entered the room, I noticed Instructor Lirya gesturing toward me from a distance. She was like a sign to sit next to him.

There was no reason to refuse, so I took a seat next to Instructor Lilya.

Looking around, it seemed that President Heinkel hadn’t arrived yet. It looked like he had enough time until the meeting started, so he spoke to Instructor Lilya in a low voice.

“Good morning. Instructor Lilya.”

“Good morning Instructor Graham too.”

“It is rare to have a general meeting in the morning.”

Despite his reputation and position, President Heinkel was not an authoritative personality, so he was not the type to interfere with instructors unless it was a special occasion.

The only time I was summoned by President Heinkel during the semester was to knock out a student on the first day.

I went to the Titania-related case first, and the Oznia case was unavoidable because the forest was destroyed, so it would be right to see it as an exception.

Instructor Lyria said with a smile.

“Not necessarily. If it’s a general meeting at this time, it’s an annual event.”

“Is that so?”

Instructor Lilya seemed to have already guessed the purpose of today’s meeting.

Looking around, the other instructors except for me were making plain faces as if they had already guessed the contents of the meeting.

“Actually-“

Instructor Lyria was about to speak to answer my question, but before that, the door to the conference room opened and President Heinkel, with his long beard hanging down as usual, entered.

When the president entered, all the instructors, including me, stood up, and among them, Instructor Reicht of the Diamond White Class, the most senior among them, greeted them as their representative.

“Hello, President Heinkel.”

“Heh heh, nice to meet you all. Aren’t I too late?”

President Heinkel said with a slight smile.

“Actually, when I was leaving my room in the morning, I found that I was wearing different colored socks. It took me a while to change because I was in a hurry.”

“Ha ha ha!”

“Hoho, the president is also true.”

A light smile spread throughout the teachers’ room, creating a soft atmosphere. I was the only one who glanced at President Heinkel’s socks without smiling.

“… ….”

To be honest, I wondered what the color of the socks had to do with the robe covering my toes.

“Come on, don’t do this, everyone, please sit down.”

When President Heinkel recommended a seat, everyone sat down and waited for his words.

After a while, President Heinkel started the meeting in a calm voice.

“Dear instructors in charge of 1st grade. As we all know, the Victory Day celebrations are just around the corner. In particular, first-year students need special attention as this is the first festival they experience as academy students.”

Victory Day.

That was the reason why President Heinkel called the entire meeting.

Victory Day celebrates its 5th anniversary this year.

Of course, I hadn’t been very interested since before. It didn’t suit my personality to enjoy the festival, and it was subtle that I fit in with the soldiers gathering and enjoying themselves. Because I always acted alone as a member of the special lease.

Marquis Karlstein invited me to attend the victory celebrations several times, but I refused them all. Of course, this is also the first time that the Victory Day festival has been held in the islands.

I don’t know what I’m doing, and I’m not interested in it, so what does that have to do with my job as an instructor?

President Heinkel continued his words as if answering the question.

“You all know this, but let me explain for those who don’t know.”

The president’s eyes were looking at me, not anyone else, so it was clear that he intended to focus on me.

President Heinkel’s explanation was as follows.

Students of Fillion Academy must work hard while attending school and constantly prove their abilities in order to grow into excellent talents of the empire.

Private support work was also part of this effort.

During the Victory Day, tourists flocked from all over the empire and even from all continents, so the existing systemic military police could not handle it.

To this end, academy students are helping the military police to maintain public order throughout the system.

Of course, working in the private sector during the festival can lead to fatigue from work and lack of time for students to enjoy the festival.

So, among the 5-day festival, first graders are in charge of the first day, and fifth graders are in charge of the last day, the 5th, because it attracts the most people.

Of course, even on the first day, a festival is a festival. Even on days when there were relatively few people, the role of instructors was important so that students could carry out their support work smoothly.

The instructors in charge of each class opened their mouths one by one.

Instructor Acheron was the first to speak.

“Let’s take Diamond White from District 2 to District 6. It is a place frequented by aristocrats and high-ranking people.”

“Garnet Red will be in charge of places where a lot of people gather, such as the central road and the island gate. And I think Garnet Red should be in charge of the market street in District 7 as well.”

“Then, Sapphire Blue will be in charge of the Great Temple and its surroundings. Many goddess cultists will visit.”

“Emerald Green will tour the outskirts.”

Instructor Lyria pondered and asked.

“How will you deal with unsafe areas?”

“That area will be occupied by the military police, Instructor Lilya. If necessary, the academy guards will also be dispatched.”

“If the president says so, then there is no need to worry. I think students should focus on maintaining security only in areas where tourists flock.”

In this way, the instructors in charge of the first year began discussing the details to establish an overall plan and determine the area of responsibility for each class.

Which class of which class will be in charge of which district… Unlike opal black classes with only eight students, diamond white and garnet red classes consist of several classes within the first year. So there were more details to discuss.

“… ….”

I quietly listened to their discussion in silence.

Because I didn’t even know what to do in the first place.

I wasn’t familiar with the city of Sangria, and Opal Black, unlike other classes, had a common identity, religion, hometown, etc.

The only thing worth thinking about is that there are three high-ranking nobles.

Area 1, Imperial Palace Emperatos might be suitable.

But if the princess is doing directions there, she won’t know what to do with the guests visiting the imperial castle in awe.

Perhaps reading my troubled expression, Instructor Lyria, who was sitting next to me, raised his hand and helped me.

“Come on, President! Since Instructor Graham is new to this festival, would it be all right if he accompanies our class?”

“Mmm, that’s a good idea. Opal Black is a new class, so both students and instructors will need experience. If Instructor Lyria were by her side to help, she wouldn’t be as trustworthy as that.”

“Thank you, President!”

Saying that, Instructor Lilya blinked at me and winked.

I also sent my thanks with a wink.

To be honest, it is true that I was at a loss as to where to go. After all, the only one who helps when it’s difficult is Instructor Lilya.

It made me feel sorry for him to think that he had to raise his hand like that every time he spoke, because no one would notice him if he didn’t appeal like that because of his small body.

Around the end of the meeting, President Heinkel suddenly opened his mouth.

“It has not been officially announced yet, but soon a very special guest will come to give a guest lecture at the academy.”

“A special guest?”

“Heh heh, yes. Don’t be surprised and listen. It is Dr. Georg von Braun, who developed the drafting tram and airship.”

My shoulders froze at those words, and surprise flashed across the faces of all the instructors gathered in the office.

That’s why the name Georg von Braun was a surprising name.

The news of last night’s pilot operation of the airship has already been widely known throughout the islands through the morning’s newspaper. And that too, proudly adorning the front page of every newspaper.

It meant that the whole nation’s attention was focused on the soon-to-be airship.

Instructor Helga, in charge of Emerald Green, raised her glasses and said, unable to hide her surprised expression.

“You mean Dr. Georg von Braun, the famously picky, unapologetic genius? He doesn’t do any external activities at all. He lectures at our academy? It’s amazing, and it’s really great news. How did you invite him, President Heinkel?”

“Heh heh, calling it an invitation is a bit different. In fact, Dr. Brown himself expressed his desire to come to the academy.”

“Dr. Brown himself!?”

Leaving behind Instructor Helga’s astonished voice, President Heinkel looked at me quietly.

“Dr. Brown specifically pointed out Instructor Ion to prepare for the lecture. Instructor Ion, may I ask you a favor?”

“… Yes?’

At that moment, the eyes of all the instructors in the conference room were focused on me.

It was a gaze mixed with surprise, doubt, and doubt about whether he knew such a celebrity.

But my heart was filled with only foreboding.
