< 54. Baidian Mountains (3) >

#54

Four of the six villages were situated around rivers that meander along the base of a mountain range. Ronan opened his mouth as he turned to Asher, who was tight-lipped.

“Fighting and killing are two different things.”

“What does that… mean?”

“Fighting is the process of achieving a goal. War is a prime example. The reason for doing such nonsense is usually to get land or money, not to burn enemy territory and bathe in the blood of prisoners.”

“That, right?”

“But if killing itself is the goal, it’s a different story. It ends much faster and more convenient. Think about why Balon VII was called the bloodshed.”

Confusion appeared on the three men’s faces. It was an incredibly intelligent and concise explanation that came out of Ronan’s mouth. Ronan, who sucked the pipe again, continued.

“Asher. Do you remember the last time you dropped a mace on the goblin face?”

“That, that…”

Asher closed her mouth and nodded her head. It was an experience I will never forget. He still remembered clearly the sound of Luna Goblin’s skull breaking.

“It’s similar to what I’m going to do today. It’s just getting a little bigger. Your role will be huge.”

“Is my role big…?”

“If you do, you will know. Let’s go stop the river first.”

“Go, block the river?”

Asher tilted her head. Instead of answering, Ronan began to step forward. The other three looked at each other in turn with puzzled expressions.

Until then, no one expected it. The fact that in a few hours they would become the bloodshed of the orcs living in Baidian.

****

It was just around dawn when the Orcs of the Wildbawi tribe noticed something unusual.

“Chwiik, chief! Something strange has happened!”

An orc with a battle hammer on its back entered the chieftain’s tent. Before long, the chieftain, who had been sleeping among the female orcs, woke up.

“…what’s going on, Chwiik.”

“The river has disappeared, Chwiik! The water should come up, but I can’t!”

“Chun, the river disappears…?”

The chief frowned. I couldn’t understand what it was saying.

“Tell me so I can understand, Chwiik. Why is the river disappearing?”

“Chew! Really gone! I saw all the brothers besides me, Chwiik!”

“Chwiik! Work it!”

The chief threw the hatchet lying on the bedside. Kwajik! The hatchet, which flew while spinning, was stuck in the forehead of the scout orc.

“Chueek…!”

“You idiot, Chwiik.”

The body of the scout orc fell backwards. As I was about to go back to sleep, I heard a voice from behind the tent.

“Chureuk, chief! It’s a big deal!”

“Whoa….”

It seemed like something had happened. The chieftain sighed and put on a bear hide. When I went out, I caught my eye on the crowd of the tribe members gathered around.

“Chew! The chief is out!”

“You don’t even cut trees, what are you doing here, Chwiik.”

“Wow! The river is gone!”

Even the workers who were doing the logging were saying the same thing. The chieftain eventually gathered the tribe’s warriors and headed to the river. Rather than be prepared for when the river is really gone, contemplating how to punish the nonsense fools.

But it didn’t take long for them to realize that what they were saying was true.

“Chwiik?”

The chieftain’s eyes widened. There was only a wide, hollow pit where the river should have flowed. The rocks on the riverbed were drying up in the morning sun.

“Chwi, chung…what’s going on! Chwiik!”

“Chew! The river has really disappeared!”

The orcs began to murmur. Originally, the water that should have been filled up to the chest was so low that it was only enough to wet the ankles.

The orcs walked into the middle of a pit that used to be a river, as if possessed. Fish that had lost their habitat were dying with their empty stomachs exposed. He was in the middle of looking around.

“Where did that strange bird go?! Chwiik!”

“Clearly I came here Chwiik!”

The forest on the other side of the river shook and a group of orcs came out. They had red palm prints engraved on their bodies. The chieftain orc widened his eyes.

“Zwiik? Lack of knives?”

“…?”

It was a fist knife tribe that had settled across the river. As they recently expanded their territory, it was also a tribe that had a lot of quarrels.

The answer came out. The chieftain of Deulbawi, who grabbed the axe, shouted in an angry voice.

“Chew! Lack of knives! You guys did it!”

“Chwiik! what we will say! When I woke up, the river disappeared and Chwiik!”

“Wow! The cowardly fist knife stole the water! Kill it! ”

The orcs of the Wild Rock tribe ran out. The orcs of the fist knives tribe, who were confused for a moment, roared and ran out. Two groups of orcs collided in the middle of a dried up river.

A loud roar and the sound of iron resounded through the mountains. Then another horde of orcs appeared from the downstream side of the river.

“Chuaak? What are these guys?!”

This time, it was the Iron Sand tribe who lived in the lower reaches. Their chieftain soon made a judgment similar to that of the other two chieftains. The moment the warriors of the Iron Sand tribe with their sticks joined in the fight, the orcs came down from the upstream side as well.

“I found it, Chwiik! They are river thieves!”

Before long, the four tribes began to tangle and fight. Blood and shouts spurted every time the savage weapons were swung.

The liquid dripping from his feet was closer to blood than water. It was around the time the battle was at its climax. The orcs’ feet began to vibrate slightly.

-Gugugugugugu…

“Chwiik?”

The chieftain of Deulbawi, noticing the abnormality, turned his head to the upstream. Then I thought I could hear something. My vision, which had been narrowed by battle, widened, and at the same time, a nightmare-like sight caught my eye.

– Kwakwakwakwakwaquawh!!

“Chwiyik?!”

A high and rough current, which he had never seen before, was rushing in, breaking the trees that had grown along the river. A few orcs noticed and screamed. They hurriedly tried to run away, but other orcs, already excited, spearheaded them in their backs.

“Chew!”

“Chwiah! I have caught the chieftain of the wild rock!”

“Chureuk! Hey, let this go! You idiot!”

The torrent reached the place where the orcs were within seconds. The battle-blind orcs realized only then that their river had not been stolen.

Aww! The river swallowed the orcs.

“Chwiaah!”

“Aurorok…! Live…!”

Hundreds of orcs were swept away by the current as they were. About half of them would probably die while they were drifting away. Ronan, watching the scene from a nearby peak, nodded.

“There is a reason Adeshan liked to use it. It kills the effect.”

Water work was one of the strategies used frequently by Adeshan in his previous life. It was after she manually subdued the rebels who rose up in Tuang, that she began to make a name for herself in earnest.

Even setting fire to the forest around the village would be a perfect Adeshan strategy, but Ronan had no intention of doing so. No matter how hard I try, I can’t help but laugh at the mountain ranges that have been turned to ashes.

“Everyone had a hard time. Were you good at building embankments while saving your sleep?”

Ronan said so and looked back at the three men who were stunned. As she watched the tragedy, Marya’s lips parted softly.

“Is this… a club activity?”

“Wah ha ha ha ha ha ha.”

Braum was smiling awkwardly, like a man with facial paralysis. Asher, who had become like a war criminal overnight, was just staring at the stream that started flowing again with empty eyes.

“I’m going to hell…”

The first contributor to the operation was Asher, no matter what anyone said. He built a dam from the trees Marya and Braum had cut down last night and the rocks around them. Because Asher, who handles telekinesis, was able to finish the basic work in such a short time.

“Now, shall we go do a robbery? Marya, Braum. Follow.”

Unfortunately, there was still work to be done. Ronan, who drew La Mancha, beckoned to the two of them.

“Hey, you’re finally going.”

“Well! To be honest, I am nervous.”

Marya and Braum picked up their swords. Ronan said, clutching Asher’s shoulder.

“Can you?”

“I will try.”

“great. Think of it as just closing your eyes and dropping the mace. Sita, you stay here with Asher.”

“Byeah!”

After returning from the orc lure mission, Sita rode on Asher’s head. Sita was also clearly the main force. He would be a reliable escort while Asher did the work she was instructed to do.

Ronan, Marya, and Braum headed to the nearest village. It was no exaggeration to say that only workers remained in the village where the warriors left.

Indeed, they were able to enter the village of Deulbawi without any restraint. Ronan, who scanned the inside, muttered in a relaxed voice.

“It’s lonely.”

“Is it lonely? this?”

“By Orc standards.”

It was a sincere voice. At most, it looked like there were only a few dozen, but this was almost nothing.

Only a few productive orcs and enslaved goblins remained and roamed the village. The orcs, who noticed the group’s existence belatedly, shouted.

“Chwiik?! Is this, human?”

“Kooak! Kill it!”

Orcs with tools rushed in. Ronan maintained a light gait and swung La Mancha.

spatula. Two heads fell to the floor with each stroke. La Mancha’s blade of anticipation cut through the skin of an orc like tofu. The slaughter continued as smooth as a river.

“Ugh! Get out of here!”

“Smell!”

Braum really showed the calmness of a senior citizen. He was standing next to Ronan, defending the attack, and steadily knocking down each one.

gang! When the orcs blocked by Braum’s greatsword hesitated, Ronan took their heads off. The orcs who lost more than ten companions began to aim for Marya.

“Chwi, Chwiik! Those humans are strong!”

“Woman! Chwiik, aim for women!”

“···under.”

Marya grabbed the hilt. I always dealt with humans and tech dolls, but it was my first time dealing with a monster.

as learned. Marya, who sang like that, swung her great sword sideways. spatula. The orc’s waist was cut in half, and blood and guts were poured out. Marya’s eyes widened.

“Hey, why are you listening to this so well?!”

“I tell you, sister, you need to be aware that you are damn strong.”

“Aww! die!”

There was never a moment when I felt the shock of killing. With an expression of disbelief, Marya swung her sword again. Whoops! A slash drawn with an ignorant sound cut the two orcs that were running in a row.

“Chewoheook!”

“Chureuk! W, women are strong too!”

The work of Doron, the supreme blacksmith. Her greatsword, which got heavier as she held up mana, was already heavier than Braum’s. Seeing Marya wielding the sword, Braum laughed bitterly.

“hahahaha, is this the difference in talent…!”

“It’s the difference in aptitude. From my point of view, you look better than a greatsword, Braum.”

“Ummm?! Did you hear it!”

Braum blushed. Ronan was in a bad mood, so he asked him not to make such a face and then slaughtered the orcs. Just then, the sound of something huge ripped through the wind echoed overhead.

– Whoa!

When I looked up, I saw huge rocks and trees flying in parabolic lines. These were rocks that Asher had launched with telekinesis. The megaliths that flew through the high altitude would fall onto the two villages that were not affected by the manual work.

“Well, you are doing well.”

It was flying so excitingly that his fears were dispelled. His advice not to think about the tragedy that would happen at the point of impact seemed to have worked. Marya and Braum lowered their swords, making sure that there were no more orcs attacking them.

“Bur, are you done already?”

“It’s futile…!”

“Thanks to you for following along. I still have five more to go, so take a break. I’ll clean up and come back.”

Ronan left those words and headed to the deepest part of the village. When the chieftain’s tent was lifted, female orcs, their young, and cowards who ran away for fear of fighting appeared.

“Chureuk…! This, human…!”

The will to resist was not felt from the unarmed orcs. He was just looking at Ronan with fearful eyes.

Ronan slowly walked towards them. Various bones and clothing were strewn on their feet. Many of them were human, and most of the bones had sharp teeth marks. It must have belonged to the adventurers caught on the top of the mountain range or unlucky.

Yeah, that’s all.

Ronan, who muttered in a whisper, pulled the hilt of the sword.

****

“Twitter.”

Ronan, who was covered in blood, spit on the floor. The rearranging was soon over. Anticipation was rising from the blood-soaked sword.

The Deulbawi tribe was completely destroyed. Ronan began to search the inside of the tent to find something to pack.

It wasn’t a monster collecting wealth like Luna Goblin, so I didn’t expect much. Suddenly, Ronan’s gaze fell on the corner of the chief’s bed. A lump of a familiar shape caught my eye.

“no way···.”

Looks like a bunch of meat, and shiny golden eyes. The identity of the lump was unmistakably a Curse Eye. Ronan, who hastily picked up the Curse Eye, spit out cursing.

“Sister, this precious thing…!”

Only half of them were gone. After the Orcs took a bite, it looked like they had no taste and threw it away. Ronan sighed and threw away the Curse Eye’s body.

‘Yeah, damn, you’re saying you live somewhere in the mountains, right?’

I was able to maintain my reason by thinking as positively as possible. It was a car that I was wondering if there might be one or two more. Marya’s cry came from outside the tent.

“Lo, Ronan!!”

“What’s up?”

The voice was urgent. Ronan, who hurriedly left the tent, narrowed his forehead. An elf woman was lying between Marya and Braum.

“What else is that?”

“I was looking through the tent and found it. Did you bring it to eat later?”

“Damn, are you alive?”

Marya nodded her head. The elf woman in a tunic was holding her hands and feet bound with ropes and breathing heavily. Ronan frowned.

“Why didn’t you untie the rope?”

“That… no matter how hard I try, it doesn’t cut it.”

“What?”

It was an unfamiliar sound. Ronan, who immediately pulled out the La Mancha, slashed at the rope that was tying the woman’s wrist. Ting! The sword bounced off with the sensation of hitting the ogre’s skin.

“Eh?”

It was the same no matter how many times I tried. Even the cave giant was slicing La Mancha without any power. Then the woman’s lips parted softly.

“Oh, it’s no use…”

“What, are you awake? What the hell happened to you?

“Uhhh.”

A painful moan escaped the woman’s mouth. Apparently there were no wounds, but it was probably an internal injury.

Ronan fed the woman with the potion she was carrying for emergency. After a while, the woman with a better complexion opened her mouth.

“Heh uhhh, thank you…I’ll tell you the details later…can you take me with you…? You can’t solve it in the usual way…”

“Would you like to take me? Where?”

“If you go up the mountain range… Hmm, there’s a temple there… over there…”

Ronan’s eyes widened. The woman must have been talking about the temple of Sarante. Then came the stinging remarks.

“Sa, Sarante… take me to him…”
