‘Ah come on! Why in the world would I feel complicated about that? I’m just someone’s replacement!’

Jiang Sheng stroked his head fretfully but for the next second, he was like a deflated balloon, letting out a long sigh. He was sighing because his heart was totally out of his control and was beating like crazy now.

“Are you guys okay?!”

Suddenly, Bai Hao broke in, followed by a bunch of muscular men in suits.

“What the f**k are you doing? The enemies were shooting at my office already!” Pei Siyan seethed with rage as he bent down and helped Jiang Sheng get up.

“Sorry, it was my mistake. I just saw someone suspicious on my way here and we tracked him down for a long way, only to find that he was merely a bait.” Bai Hao said with guilt on his face.

Even though Pei Siyan was outrageous, it was not the time to fight against each other for now.

When Pei looked at the building across, the enemies were gone already.

They had left probably because they saw Bai Hao come back to help and realized that their decoy had failed.

“Should we send someone to track them down?” Bai Hao asked so carefully that he even restrained his voice of breathing.

“There’s no need for that. We both know who the enemies are and who sent them here.”

But what Pei Siyan didn’t expect was that they had been aiming for Jiang Xiao’s life.

That he took Jiang Xiao out with him was only trying to see their reaction.

‘Could it be that I misunderstood Jiang Xiao? He was not one of those people they sent? Otherwise, they won’t try to kill him. And that would have been a contradiction, wouldn’t it? Or, was this another trick they were playing?’

Pei Siyan frowned and laid his eyes on Jiang Sheng as he thought of that.

Being watched by Pei Siyan that way, He felt a twitch in his heart with anxiety. Hence, he hid behind Bai Hao and kept his head low.

“What are you hiding from? Am I that terrifying?”

Pei Siyan was upset that Jiang Sheng was hiding behind some other guy because he was afraid of him.

“Well, you are the only one that never considers yourself terrifying.” Jiang Sheng mumbled, but somehow everyone in the room heard him. Bai Hao couldn’t help but chuckle and the atmosphere in the room got better because of Jiang Sheng’s complaint.

“Come over here.” Pei Siyan commanded in a cold tone.

“I will come over! Why can’t you just ask nicely?” Jiang Sheng mumbled again as he walked to Pei Siyan like a little dear with his head down. Probably he was afraid of Pei Siyan’s sudden rage and unpredictable mood.

But Pei Siyan didn’t have a fit this time. Instead, he was checking all over Jiang Sheng’s body and asked, “Did you get hurt?”

Hearing that, Jiang Sheng looked up at Pei Siyan in a trance.

“I was asking you a question. Did you get hurt? Are you dumb now?” Pei Siyan went grumpy again instantly.

Jiang Sheng’s lips twitched a bit. ‘F**k, this guy’s mood changes like the weather, totally unpredictable.’

“I’m all good, and your baby is fine!” Jiang Sheng replied in a rather high volume.

The reason why Jiang Sheng mentioned the baby was that he thought Pei was asking him only because of the baby in his belly, and he didn’t think Pei Siyan was really worried about him.

Pei Siyan’s rage just became even stronger after he had heard that, “I was asking about you! Why do you mention the baby?”

“Oh, so it was not about the baby? Then what? Was it because I look like your wife and you were worried about that? Fine! Then I’ll cut that face down and threw it at you! You can hang it on the f**king wall and admire it whenever you want!”

Jiang Sheng just said whatever he felt like saying without any second thoughts when he was angry. But those were also the truth; he was not happy with the twisted pattern between them.

All the others in the room breathed in fear when they heard what Jiang Sheng had just said because they knew how Pei Siyan hated anyone speaking of his wife.

Unexpectedly, Pei Siyan smiled while he lifted Jiang Sheng’s chin a bit and asked, “Are you jealous?”

“What? Who’s f**king jealous? There’s definitely something wrong with you!”

Jiang Sheng was so pissed off, but his heart did miss a beat when Pei Siyan asked that question. He was jealous, indeed.
