Adventures Of Bayek: Through The Void And Beyond

Chapter 20 - Battle at Birmingham Airport Pt.2

"What's the problem?" Asked Hazel

"Did you guys forget everything I told you already? By the looks of these hordes, somewhere in that city is probably a huge Settlement of survivors. It's probably what those people on the freeway are coming her for, or there's a variant."

"Shit, so it might be not possible to get down there…Unless" Before Cesar could finish Miranda stepped in.

'Oh no, you can't make it through all of those walkers…you'll die. Or worse, you get infected" she said

The group looked at each other. As if communicating telepathically.

"we all can't go. There's children, so some have to stay"

Looking at Bayek, everyone knew he had to go...

"I'll make it easy. Pick a number on through ten" Bayek said pulling out his knife. Craving into the ground, he wrote one number

"7..9..10….3.." numbers were said and Bayek already had his winner.

"Cesar you're already in, but the number was 1 . So, I guess April is coming with us. I suggest you all hold up in one of these houses. Take what you can from vehicles. If a horde comes you don't want to be stuck in those trucks.

Some time Later, Cesar, Bayek, and April was sneaking past walkers into the city. They had a couple miles to go. So, they only stopped for water and to catch their breath. Bayek didn't feel in exhaustion. But, stopped as a curtesy.

Turning the corner on t o the next street it was almost empty Five walkers wobbled into the other direction. Knocking an arrow, drawing his bow, Bayek shot them down after another.

"Let's go"

Moving again Cesar led them for three more blocks until the ran into about fifteen walkers.

"This is the clearest street; we need to take them. We have no choice." Pulling out their blades April and Cesar stared cutting down walkers while Bayek shot them down from a distance.

This process repeated itself form miles. The group of three had to kill walkers when they could. And keep moving. Sometime the had to kill 10 , then 20, maybe 6. The numbers varied but the kept trucking own. It close to sunset when the trio found them self around a mile from the airport. And the sound of gunshot and battle cries could be heard.

"Ahhh!" Bang..Bang… That time the shots were closer. They weren't coming from the Airport; it was from over towards the groups left. Cesar began running in the direction. Bayek could sense the people. But knowing that Cesar's brother had a kid and his grandmother with him. He figured there was not that man would be stupid enough to come into the war zone. But that didn't stop Cesar, from running to the shots.

Bayek overtook Cesar and slammed him into the walk. "What the hell do you think you are doing?"

That could be my brother, Bayek?"

"And if it isn't then what. Fight a horde of who knows how many, since they will be attracted to the

sound of those gunshots. Is it really worth it?" Bayek kept him pinned

" I hated my brother, Before I left Birmingham, I kicked his f.u.c.k.i.n.g face in. He ruined my life. Took my happiness away from me until I met Miranda and had two kids. una esposa y dos hijos! Two! Before I couldn't even have one. So, I hate my brother, and I love him… if it wasn't for him, in a weird way I know I would be unhappy and in jail right now. He did the worst thing a brother could do, and it brought me more happiness than a man could ask for, Bayek!" Cesar fought the tears from escaping his eyes, but it was losing battle. Grabbing Bayek's collar Cesar look him straight in the eyes

"Isn't that f.u.c.k.e.d up? Hmm! And the most F.u.c.k.e.d up part is… I still love them both and the little girl they had. I have to save my brother. I can't let him die thinking all I feel for him is hate and contempt. El es mi hermanito!"

Bayek eased up and let him go. Fixing Cesar shirt. Bayek said, "Okay, okay, in and out. If he's not there we leave. No captain save a hoe. We got people waiting on us. In that airport and back at the convoy. dentro y fuera, me tienes"

Cesar nodded his head "Si"

The Trio went for the sounds of the gunshot. 1 block 2 block, 3 blocks, 4, the group of people had moved in an attempt to flee the walkers. Bayek could sense one of them were injured. Picking Cesar and April up. Bayek revolved his Qi and pushed off the ground in their direction. When the trio appeared, walkers had caught up to the survivors. And in order to fight back they had to put the injured man down . As soon as his body hit the floor walkers swarmed him and began to tear into his body.

"Raul!!" Cesar shouted and sprinted to the walkers. Cutting them down. In an attempt to save his brother. Seeing this Bayek started to fire arrows and April joined Cesar in the fight.

More walkers began to converge on their location. Out of arrow. Bayek pulled out sword and 10 walkers in one fell swoop. Stepping through the field of corpses Bayek collected his arrows

"Raul…" Cesar said with a voice full of relief. As the brother looked at each other full of shock, they walked into an embrace

"Hold the f.u.c.k up…That's Raul? I thought Raul was on the floor feasted on" Bayek question Cesar. Cesar looked at the man on the floor gargling blood, fight for his life.

Turning back to Bayek, Cesar said, "The gringo? Oh, I don't know who the hell that is"

April palmed her face and snickered . Bayek just continued to collect his arrows and let the brothers do their thing.

Pulling the last arrow from a corpse. Bayek shot the walkers closing in "Come on , we need to go"

"Go where?!" A male soldier asked. Bayek c.o.c.ked his head , then replied "You see the rank on this uniform. It mean shut the f.u.c.k up and do as you're told."

"And if I don't?" he replied

Bayek appeared in front of him, breaking his knee in. The soldier fell over in agony. "I told this man; I'll help him get his family. And I need soldiers! So shut the f.u.c.k and let's kick some walker a.s.s. Or you can stay here with your f.u.c.k.i.n.g friend. Because when we step off, we're going to war!"

The remaining fighters looked at each other and weighed their options.

"F.u.c.k it, at least he's more straight forward than the captain"

"And he's fighting with us"

"The worlds dead anyway"

The soldiers snapped to attention "At your command, Colonel'

"then let's go" Bayek and the group started to make their way to the airport for one hell of a war.
