"Okay everyone. The Colonel and Hazel have gone to take care of the bigger herd. As you all know, the only rank in this squad that matters, is the Colonel's. and he wants all of you to sit back while I fight the herd heading south." James addressed the squad.

"You can't do this! You'll die James!" And red woman exclaimed

"I have too, and I will. If it gets to tough, I'll call for help." He replied.

On the other side of town Bayek and Hazel walked to face the herd in silence.

"I'm not ready for this…"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, I'm not ready for this, any of this. This shit is absolutely insane. Walking dead, evolved humans. I'm freaking out Bayek. What if I don't make it? What if I die in one of those Cocoons" Hazel was panicking. Every step she took was a step closer to possible undergoing a metamorphosis that would change her entire life.

"Hey. Hey. Hey…Look at me…" Bayek held her by her shoulders, "You know, I don't think I was meant to be here. I pray, to my goddess at night. I pray for an explanation , for why I was dropped in this world. How could anyone enjoy this life? Being in this world could only be a mistake. Then I just said f.u.c.k it"

"F.u.c.k what?" Hazel asked a little confuse

"Everything, the walking dead, evolving humans, the apocalypse. F.u.c.k it. Let the worry and stress of it go. It's here whether we're ready or not. The only thing that matters is how we plan on surviving it. The only advice I have for you is. Fake it until you make it. Dig deep and find your inner warrior. Put on a brave, courageous, ruthless, battle hardened face. Whatever traits you need to take on to keep yourself going, wear them, until the façade becomes you. Because if you go out there and freeze. You will die. And I don't want to see you die."

"Hee, you know for a moment there. I thought you had some eternal words that would put Shakespeare to shame." Hazel said with a smile.

"If you survive this, I'll tell what a man says to his lover when he understand and accepts the gravity of this apocalyptic situation. Now come and let's see if you have what it takes to hear such eternal words" Bayek resumed their walk to the herd.

Sometime later…

" The key is to push yourself past your limits. That means you start with the bow and arrow. Shot as fast as you can. It's okay if you miss some. When you run out of arrows, use your Kukri knifes and keep killing until there are no walkers left to kill. Make sure your feet are constantly moving you don't want to get grab or surrounded. Swing fast and hard and remember to follow through." Bayek instructed Hazel as the watched the herd move.

"I got it." She replied, nocking an arrow. Hazel started her one-woman attack. Arrow after arrow she fired. 'push your limits' she repeated in her head. Every arrow was shot with perfect form. Then she started to shoot on the move. Using the arrow in her hand to kill a walker before shooting it at a walker in the distance. Some arrows missed and others hit , but she kept going. Dropping her bow, now out of arrows. Hazel pulled out two Kukri knifes and started a slaughter. She cut of limbs and gutted walkers. Beheaded them and more. Whatever she need to do to keep herself free from their clutches, she did. One by one the walkers dropped.

When Hazel was finished, she walked through the corpse and stared crushing head she cut off. Spreading out his senses. Bayek searched further south. He knew if two herds were going in the same directions. They were forming a horde somewhere.

"There..." He said. Grabbing the tired Hazel. Bayek went to join the rest of the omega squad.

"Who fought this herd?" Bayek asked

"I did colonel" James stepped up

"By yourself?"

"Yes Sir"

When James replied, Bayek grabbed him as well in speed of south bound. "You see the herds moving south. Start killing while I get the rest of Omega squad. Protect each other and give it your all." Bayek disappeared when he was finished speaking. Every time he returned. He came back with two more fighters to join Hazel and James.

32. There were 32 people part of the Omega Squad. And Bayek brought them to the fight in twos. When everyone was slaying herds. It started to attract more attention and the herds heading south started to head in the direction of the Omega squad.

"Stay in town until we return. Herds in the area! Stay Vigilant!" is what Bayek wrote on the wall for the convoy to read.

Back at the battle site. The omega squad. Fought their hearts out. Bayek sat against a tree and watched them as they worked.

"Hmmm HmHmHmHmmm-mm-mm" Bayek hmm'd to himself as he lit a joint. The further his cultivation rose the harder it was for him to get high or drunk. It was becoming more of thing to do for thinking than it was for the high itself.

Walkers approach Bayek. He used them a sparing dummies to relearn the martial arts he once knew in his past life. With a palm he sent walkers hurling into the Omega squad. More walkers came and before they knew. The Omega squad was surrounded.

"Ahhhh!" the sounds of scream rolled across the battlefield. Appearing near the omega squad. Bayek sent out wave of Qi, knocking back the horde.

"Who was bit? And don't lie. There's a chance you can survive this." Bayek asked. They group how ever was stunned with eyes wide. Bayek was generating a steady Qi field around the Omega squad and himself.

"Speak!" he shouted, bring back the zoned-out squad. Hands went into the air.

"I was just bit, Colonel" a feminine voice came from the back

"Miranda… where were you bit?" Bayek asked. And Cesar was fighting tooth and nail to keep his wits about him.

"Forearm" she replied. Everyone that was bit on the limb, if deemed fresh. Had the chance to have it amputated or face death. Those with already rotting wounds were put down.

The five that couldn't be saved. Were killed by Bayek. Two people opted for amputation. And 1 person opted out.

"We don't have much time. Everyone's bodies will begin to get sore and tighten up. The good thing is you're all close to evolution , the bad part is if you get cold, you risk injure on the battlefield. Or if the muscle are too sore and you can't fight. It will be harder to reach this stage next time. So, Miranda, I'm sorry, love. But you need to make a choice. That tourniquet can only work for so long."

Miranda started at Bayek, and then looked at Cesar. Nodding her head. Bayek appeared next to her and part of her arm hit the floor. Miranda soon passed out because of the pain. "Okay now you have people to protect. I suggest you all fight harder. Get ready!" Bayek shouted

The short break lasted, about 8 and half minutes. And Omega squad was chiseled down 23 active fighters. "I'll help, but that means you all have to fight twice as hard. Get set!" Bayek shouted and the squad formed a circle around the downed comrades. The Qi barrier slowly fell, and walkers started to move in .

With a downward slash, it was as if Bayek had parted the sea. A mass of walkers were destroyed under might of his blow. Energized and motivated seeing the power of the Colonel. Everyone in Omega squad want it. And in this moment no one wanted more than Cesar. We wanted his wife in kids to never have to fight another walker. He wanted wipe them off the face of the plant.

Thud!

Cesar could hear his own heartbeat. As he began to lose his sanity in a battle frenzy. Left right, down. He slashed, stabbed and beat the heads of walkers in. There was no sign of him stopping. Each and every one of the members radiated battle intent, Bayek could feel it.

"Mind over matter' he thought to himself, even captain America had a strong will and its why he survived the process.

"You have to want to survive! You have to want to evolve! Allow your mind to break the limits of your physical bodies!" Bayek shouted. And continued to cut down walkers just enough so that the squad wasn't too overwhelmed.

Inside the bodies of the Omega fighter. Their blood began to boil. Their genomes didn't just change, it utterly destroyed itself and regenerated into something knew. Spreading out his senses, Bayek could tell that the one hundred plus walkers that surrounded them were the last.

When the only light that shined was from the moon, the last walker was put down. In that moment, every member of Omega squad became Bayek's enemy. Without saying a word. Bayek started to take the fights back to town in twos. When he arrived. The convoy was already there

"Take this fighter to the lab and strap them into gurneys !" Bayek barked orders. The camp began to get active once again, to take care of the fighters as Bayek brought them back.

"Put the dead some were safe and find their families. Coffee, you come with me" Bayek and Coffee walked into the mobile lab as nurses were giving the omega squad quick wipe downs, to look for bites.

"Colonel! This amputee. She has the Z bacteria in her blood stream. It's killing her." The nurse shouted

"Then put her down" Bayek replied

The Z-bacteria was what Bayek found during his research. Its an antibiotic resistant super bacteria. This bacteria is what kills people, the infection from a bite, scratch, walker blood in an open wound is what kills people. Not the bite itself. Amputation is immediate care, but if the bacteria enters the blood stream. Death. What turns humans in to walkers is activated after death, as its already encoded into the human genes

Anyone found with an untreatable bite or scratch was immediately put down by the nurses. "How many do we have left?" Bayek asked

"15 sir, and only 12 of those are starting their evolution." Coffee replied.

"Watch them. Doc.u.ment everything. The company is staying here until the evolutions are complete. Is someone keeping time?"

"Yes ,Sir" a nurse answered. "Good, the most dangerous part is the second stage of evolution. keep guard around the clock." Bayek instructed before leaving the lab. Standing in front of the commanders' tent Bayek could hear the bickering.
