From deep within the cracked ground, fleshly limbs stretched out.The fleshy surface was scarlet and greasy as it writhed around under the dark sky.No matter how many of its limbs had been cut off and no matter how many attacks it received, it could always quickly grow it back.They couldn’t seem to inflict any damage on it.The woman stood high up in the air, her pale skin looking particularly prominent against the black and scarlet surroundings. Her outer skin had been stretched and deformed from her changing structure inside. A chilling voice travelled out from her sunken face.“You still haven’t realised?”Behind her, large tentacles charged towards them at a rapid speed.A cold light flashed and several of them broke off.At the part that was cut, several more tentacles grew out of it.“You can’t hurt me.” Mother said.Ye Jia clenched tightly onto the bony scythe handle. Thin strands of blood flowed down his skin, smearing his hands.The handle of the scythe was stained red.His condition wasn’t good. His face was so pale, he looked like he would melt into the night behind him the next instant. His pair of amber-coloured eyes stared at Mother who hovered in the air ahead.After turning back into a human, it also meant that he had lost his ability to recover.Although Ye Jia’s body was a lot tougher than that of ordinary humans, the wound made from digging something out from his chest wouldn’t heal in such a short period of time.The temperature around him had fallen so much, Ye Jia could see white mist coming out of his mouth and nose when he exhaled.He could clear his heart pounding in his eyes. The thin edge sank deeply into his palm, causing bright scarlet blood to flow out.The scythe greedily drank the blood from Ji Xuan’s hand, much like a starved beast licking at the bones of their prey.Ye Jia was startled. He subconsciously wanted to retract the scythe.But for some reason, it didn’t work like it used to. That scythe was still firmly held in Ji Xuan’s grip.“What are you doing?” Ye Jia was anxious. He grabbed Ji Xuan’s wrist, “Let go.”But Ji Xuan just used this opportunity to take a step closer and pull the other party into his embrace.The blood flowing out from his palm seemed to be attracted by some invisible force. Under the clothes that had been cut through, the skin on his chest had become nice and smooth. Long and pale fingers stiffly held the bony handle and the tips of it had turned white from the force he was exerting. He seemed to be wanting to forcefully take it away.Ji Xuan slowly loosened his grip. His blood stained fingers gently brushed across the back of the other party’s hand like a feather.“Now, you can hurt her.”Ye Jia’s fingers twitched, He turned and looked at Ji Xuan, his voice hoarse:“What did you do?”If they had this option in the beginning, he was certain Ji Xuan wouldn’t have left it until now without mentioning it.Ji Xuan raised his hands, making a surrendering gesture.One hand was stained by Ye Jia’s blood and the other hand had a bone-deep cut that was still bleeding: “Hey, don’t look at me like that….I didn’t do anything this time.”“…...You!” Ye Jia grabbed his collar.Ji Xuan just chuckled.He allowed the other party to grab his collar and just lowered his head and gently rubbed his nose against their forehead:“I have now placed all my chips on you.”Ji Xuan lifted his injured hand and slowly pried open the fingers gripping onto his collar. Her expression distorted in both pain and anger as she glared viciously at the young man before her, “You dare...you dare hurt me!”The hand that had been cut off slowly disintegrated and scattered into the air.Ye Jia rested the bony handle of his scythe onto his shoulder and looked back at her fearlessly. He looked calm and unshakeable.“I made a bet.”He raised his hand and pointed the sharp blade at the other party.”“And I also trust him.”Ji Xuan.That obsessive ghost who had always followed his own desires.There was no end to his greed and short term gratification would only make him even greedier.Ye Jia had used all sorts of methods over all these years.
