Poor Little Rich Girl (2)

“Yes,” Cui Wang nodded. As if only just recalling that Ming Yu was here, he asked, “Why are you here?”

“I read in the Canglan Papers this morning that you came out of closed-door cultivation and even went to Xuan Yi Pavilion to fight a love rival, so I specially came to partake in the excitement. Tell me, who is the earth-shattering fairy that can make one as cool and aloof as you get into a fight?”

Cui Wang said noncommittally, “I didn’t get into a fight.”

When his gaze landed on Ming Yu’s hand, he couldn’t help but frown.
“What’s with that? How very ugly.”

Ming Yu laughed. “Li Wei finds it ugly too?”

“It’s just a common mortal object,” said Cui Wang indifferently.

The old ancestor was jumping up and down in his sea of consciousness, wailing as he was being struck by the violent thunderstorm that was raging.

“Common mortal object my ass! That’s clearly the essence of Moon Grace, the essence of Moon Grace! Ahh, it’s over, my little baby has learned to lie without even blinking!”

“Stop this storm! Your darned, lousy seal! It breaks every day— you seal it, and it breaks, again and again! Even calling it a piece of shoddy construction is a compliment! If this thunderstorm goes on, your old ancestor is going to be struck to death!”

“Wait till the love gu is dispelled.” Cui Wang was finally willing to give a response.

Meanwhile, Ming Yu had already taken action.

“This object is this little cultivator and her lover’s love token; I was just teasing them. Since that’s the case, I’ll return it.” She waved casually and sent the crescent forehead accessory into Zheng Wan’s arms. “Here, I’ll return it to you.”

“Oww!” The old ancestor had gone all stiff from being struck by lightning. He lay in the dark sea of consciousness and wiped his tears and snot. “What sin have I committed? My good grandson is not well-behaved at all…”

Outside, Zheng Wan squeezed the forehead accessory. Her heart was full of ice and fire; she could still remember how vicious Cui Wang had been yesterday at the Xuan Yi Pavilion when he said “he would definitely kill her”. But when she squeezed this forehead accessory in her hand, the joy from the Phoenix Jade was transmitted to her.

She gave a courtesy and greeted politely, “Zhenjun, it’s been a while.”

Cui Wang snorted. “It hasn’t been long at all.”

“Li Wei?” Ming Yu Zhenjun’s gaze shifted curiously between the two of them, “You two…”

“Ah, it’s nothing, it’s nothing.” Li Siyi perceptively spoke on behalf of his Little Junior Brother whose both old and new flames were gathered. Besides, that delicate little cultivator probably couldn’t withstand a slap from his tigress. “Isn’t master looking for me? Hurry, let’s go.”

“Good timing, I’ll come along and stay at Guixu Sect for a few days. Let me see who that fairy of yours is,” said Ming Yu enthusiastically.

However, Cui Wang just glanced at her and said, “Things are busy at Guixu Sect recently, I’m afraid it’s not a good time to entertain Zhenjun.”

Ming Yu froze, and her expression suddenly became somewhat awkward.

She didn’t even know when she had upset Li Wei. After thinking about it, it must have something to do with that female cultivator of the Yuqing Sect. But then again, that female cultivator had admitted publicly to having an affair with another male cultivator— for one as honourable and virtuous as Li Wei, even if he harboured any feelings, they should have all already dissipated.

Cui Wang didn’t know what she was thinking about and was already turning around slowly at Li Siyi’s urging. After taking a few steps, he seemed to remember something and threw out two mid-grade Yuan stones with a flick of his sleeve. The Yuan stones onto the stall with great precision. Cui Wang stretched out a hand and made a gesture, and a black stone fell into his palm.

Zheng Wan looked up in surprise to see that in the bright sunlight, the man’s eyes were filled with undisguised disgust.

“Payment.”

“Oh,” said Shu Yuan dazedly. “A piece of hundred-year-old darksteel is a hundred and fifty low-grade Yuan stones. Your change…”

When he looked up again, the man was nowhere to be seen.

Ming Yu Zhenjun’s voice rang out in the distance, “Hey, Li Wei, if you don’t take me in, where am I going to stay?”

……

Zheng Wan was still standing in front of his stall, with a complicated look in her eyes.

“Zhenren…” said Shu Yuan cautiously.

Only then did Zheng Wan return to herself. She smiled sweetly, “You can give the change to me.”

“Sure, sure.” Shu Yuan nodded. “A hundred-year-old darksteel metal is a hundred and fifty low-grade Yuan stones. The forehead accessory is thirty low-grade Yuan stones. I’ll take these two mid-grade Yuan stones, so your change will be sixty-five Yuan stones. Zhenren, here’s the change.”

Zheng Wan kept the remaining Yuan stones with a complicated expression. She still could take the ten low-grade Yuan stones with peace of mind previously, but these sixty-five Yuan stones… Forget it, she would borrow thirty low-grade Yuan stones from her master later and return them together.

With that in mind, the suffocating feeling in her chest suddenly dispersed a lot.

After this, she was no longer in the mood to continue browsing the stall market. Under the vague gazes that seemed to be cast her way, Zheng Wang walked out of the stall market and headed directly to the east city.

It was not wise to go out of the city now, and since it was going to be the 15th in three days, it wouldn’t be an issue for her to return to the sect after staying at her parents’ place for a few days.

When she got home, it was noon. Her mother had made her favourite dishes— crystal shrimp, stir-fried mushrooms, and scallion oil chicken. Zheng Wan has yet to completely wean off food, so she simply decided to eat happily. After the meal, she took a stroll with them in the courtyard, then returned to her room.

As soon as she returned to her room, she carefully took out the forehead accessory. She didn’t know if the behaviour just now was considered cheating, but she didn’t regret it. When one encountered a treasure, one had to use all means available…

It’s just that she had relied on Cui Wang’s power again today.
