He took them through hardships and dangers to the big city, and it took him a long time to find kind-hearted parents.

This process was extremely difficult. Some of the children died of starvation, some could not bear to go away by themselves, and some were snatched away by other traffickers. Yuan Qing struggled hard but failed to save them and was instead taught a painful lesson and left with a lame leg.

When he sold all his children, he suddenly found that he was already eighteen years old. But at eighteen, he had no means of making a living.

Over the years, he had come into contact with many human traffickers of all types. There were those who were about to starve to death and forced to take this path, and there are those who gave up their conscience for money.

It was said that hateful people must be pitiful, but Yuan Qing thinks that this sentence was not true. He was not pitiful, nor will he forgive any trafficker, including himself.

But he considered himself different from other traffickers.

He was not as unscrupulous as other human traffickers who would do anything for money – Those who did not treat children as human beings, but saw them as money-making commodities.

He began to have an idea of how he could save those children.

So Yuan Qing began to buy children from other traffickers.

It was an extremely foolish act in everyone’s eyes.

No one would sell a better child to their peers. Those who were sold to Yuan Qing were either stupid or disabled.

Yuan Qing also did not care.

He taught these children to read and write, and sold those that could be sold to good families, and those that could not be brought back to the small village were taught to farm on a piece of land. There was not enough to eat and clothes to wear; they wouldn’t know when the next meal would come. Yuan Qing’s life was a mess but he was content.

Until he saw the body of a child he sold.

In this world, there were few good people, so how can there be any real good people?

Yuan Qing wrapped a straw mat and buried the child.

Fortune and bad luck never came alone. The Japanese army slaughtered their way into a small village.

Those traffickers took advantage of the vacancy to enter, and they joined together to leave Yuan Qing mute. Seeing that he looked good, they sold him to Da Yanguan for people’s entertainment.

Yuan Qing couldn’t escape and was tortured.

He stayed in Da Yanguan until he was 20 years old, where he met the second male lead played by Yin Zheng, the warlord, Du Mingyao.

Du Mingyao took a fancy to him. He took him out of Da Yanguan, petted him, loved him, and treated him to the extreme.

But it also led him to a deeper abyss – he taught him to smoke opium.

Du Mingyao controlled Yuan Qing with petting and smoke, making him an intelligence officer, or rather, a spy.

Yuan Qing’s past was all shattered, and he began to grow abnormally beside Du Mingyao. He stole countless information and killed countless people until one day, Du Mingyao sent someone to kill him.

He absconded in despair and was rescued by an ordinary farmer.

The farmer’s daughter helped him quit smoking, and Yuan Qing slowly began to convince himself to let go of his past and fall in love with this girl. However, on his wedding day, a group of Japanese military police stormed in.

Everyone was dead, and the fire was blazing.

Yuan Qing woke up.

For the first time he felt so awake.

He left the village and three years passed.

When he reappeared, he had been labeled a “traitor” in the mouths of others, helping the Japanese to do unconscionable things.

He dealt with this chaotic world, wandering on the icy blade. He betrayed everything that he could and finally, in a battle, he designed and destroyed the train of the Japanese commander-in-chief, thereby reversing the tide in the crucial war.

After the war, instead of dying, he went to court.

Across him was the one who scolded him for betraying the country – the child who had been with him the longest.

The child fired the gun, Yuan Qing had no excuse.

Gunshots sounded.

His absurd life was finally over.

The subject matter of this play was somewhat sensitive. The plot was suspected of whitewashing traitors and also weaved in points of homos*xuality. It was truly walking on the edge of a blade. Major investors dared not invest, so the entire crew pulled together, but were extremely broke.

The producer was only willing to go on with the show for the director’s sake but there were too many sensitive topics. If they were not careful, this film may go bust.

But Chu Yunsheng was quite optimistic about this movie.

The script seminar went on for two days. On the third day, the producer arrived, kicked the director, punched the producer, and fought the screenwriter, beating all three into submission.

The final draft of the script was not much different from the first version.

Zhang Feifan was not too worried about whether Chu Yunsheng’s acting skills were suitable for Yuan Qing. So these days, he had been wholeheartedly teaching Yin Zheng, and helping him to deeply analyze the character of Du Mingyao.

Chu Yunsheng listened several times, and was impressed by Zhang Feifan’s ability to teach people. Mr. Chu himself was a person who can do it himself, but cannot teach others.

So he appreciated people who could teach.

Time passed quickly.

The crew arrived, and after the filming started, the network was disconnected, and all mobile phones were handed in.

When many supporting roles entered the group, they saw Chu Yunsheng and Yin Zheng. They were so excited that they thought they were dreaming. After confirming the news, they couldn’t help but sigh that the crew was really strict, so no one knew about Chu Yunsheng and Yin Zhengjin joining the crew.

Chu Yunsheng was filming in a small town, completely closed off to the outside world and ignorant of world affairs. He almost forgot that the protagonist of this silly novel was Tao An.

And Tao An has been watching Yin Zheng all this while.
