Agent Sakuara

Chapter 21 - Ten Bucks

The next day, Stephan was the first to wake up among the three. He took a bath and change his clothes. He only ever worn a plain shirt and a pair of pants everyday.

When he checked the living room, he saw how peaceful his parents were sleeping. It was his first time seeing his father personally, but he contained his excitement in fear of breaking the harmonious atmosphere surrounding his parents.

He decided to busy himself by preparing breakfast for the family. It was hard to move around the kitchen especially since his father doesn't have a step stool for children hanging around. So he made use of the chair to compensate for it.

Halfway through the process of making breakfast, Stephan heard the sound of footsteps behind him. He turned his head to the sound to check who it was and to his utter surprise, it was his father.

Steve was standing there, looking at his son who was almost seventy years old but stuck in the body of a seven year old. He felt conflicted. He wanted to pamper his child like any other parent would but bearing in mind his true age, he was lost on how to start a conversation with him or how to act in general around his son.

Stephan fake coughed to gain his father's wondering mind, feeling amused at his blatant confusion on how to act. "Good morning. I know you feel conflicted on how to treat me. I'm guessing mother has told you about our circ.u.mstances. Please, sit down. I would really like to finally be able to meet my father. We can talk while I finish preparing breakfast." He gave Steve a genuine smile before going back to work.

Steve was a little bit surprised at how m.a.t.u.r.e his son looked even though he occupies a child's body. It didn't even seemed out of place. On the contrary, it actually feels right. With this, Steve finally felt at ease in his son's presence. He could clearly see that Yumhee has done a great job with raising their son despite everything they have gone through without him. He felt deep regret in his heart, but it was overshadowed by the hope and happiness he feels right now of being reunited with his family finally.

"I'm Stephan by the way. A name mother bestowed me to honor you and grandfather Abraham." Stephan looked at Steven and gave a small smile. "I don't know if mother told you this but Rogers is my last name. Though mother can't use your last name as you both never got the chance to marry, she insisted on me taking your last name as a memento to you when everyone thought you were gone." Stephan was done cooking the eggs and bacons and was now bringing it on the table before Steve. On the table, there were also some toasted bread and pancakes. Stephan went to the coffee machine and asked Steve "Coffee?"

"Yes. Thank you." Steve immediately replied.

Stephan handed him a cup of hot coffee while he put his on the table and went to get plates and cutlery. After placing everything on the table, they heard another set of footsteps coming their way.

"Good morning mother. You're just in time for breakfast." Stephan greeted Yumhee.

Yumhee walked to her son and kissed the top of his head. "Good morning my son." No matter how old he gets, he never disliked this action of his mother. It was actually comforting for him to know that he have someone that dearly loves him to accompany him during his very long life.

Yumhee then walked to the chair beside Steve. "Good morning my love." Yumhee placed a chaste kiss on his lips before sitting.

"Good morning." Steve smiled broadly at her like a teenager in love.

Stephan can't suppress the chuckles that escaped his lips. "Well...can I ask when would the wedding be?" Both of his parents looked at him surprised. "What? Is the ring I see on mother's left ring finger for decoration only?" He asked, amused. Everyone laughed at that.

There was a steady stream of conversation on the table while the small family ate breakfast. If one was to see them right now, no one would think that this was their first meal together as a whole family. It felt natural and right.

After breakfast, Yumhee left the two at the dining table to take a bath. She knew that they needed as many chances as they could get to bond as a father and son. She knew Stephan has always admired his father and now that he's able to meet him, she knew he wanted to spend even just a moment with his father alone.

"It's great to see mother like this. Truly happy." Stephan said to his father.

"How has she been after the news of my death?" Steven asked.

"Well...I don't know exactly how she was before receiving the news so I can't really draw a comparison. But, ever since I could remember, mother has always been shrouded by loneliness. As much as she tries to hide it from everyone, there were still times I can hear her cries when she had nightmares. Calling your name over and over again." After a second of silence, Stephan sighed and continued. "But that is all in the past now. What's important is the present." He smiled at his father.

Steve looked at his son and said seriously "I may not have been able to spend these decades with you both and I have not done anything a father must do for his son but I hope my presence in this family would be enough. We both knew that you have more life experience than I, your father. Instead of me giving you pieces of advice, it would be the other way around. But I don't feel ashamed of it, rather, I'm proud of the person you have become. Though I was not able to do my duties as your father, I can still be your friend. No matter what role I need to be to support you, I'll gladly do it my son." Steve embraced his son, a few tears falling silently on his face.

Stephan returned his father's embrace. Silently crying on his father's shoulder. All these years, he had always felt incomplete. But now...he felt liberated, like these decades of silently enduring the pain and suffering brought by his circ.u.mstances has been lifted off of him. As much as he wanted to share his fears and his longing for a normal life with his mother, he didn't want to burden her further with these feelings. But now with his father here, everything that had burden their family seemed nothing.

"Thank you, father." These words were the only thing Stephan could think of to show his gratitude.

After that emotional moment, both men laughed at how things have become so dramatic. But it was undeniable that it brought them closer. They continued to talk with each other until Yumhee emerged from the bedroom wearing a new set of clothes. Steven went to take a bath as well, remembering the urgent matter at hand that concerns the safety of the world yet again.

As Steven went to take a bath, Yumhee explained to his son the current situation. Yumhee has extended a helping hand to Steve and now she's asking their son if he wanted to join the team. They have hidden their identities for decades to protect themselves. As far as everyone knew, Agent Yumhee Sakura and Stephan Rogers died in the hands of Hydra. The founders of SHIELD promised them that no information will be leaked about them. Until this day, even in SHIELD, no one knew of their existence. And by joining Steve in this journey, they would be exposing themselves.

QUINJET. DAY.

Inside the quinjet, Steve, together with his family, is sitting down and holding a tablet, watching the footage of the Hulk's attack on the Army at Culver University.

"We're about forty minutes out from base, sir." The pilot informed.

Agent Coulson stands up from his seat and walks over to Steve, glancing at Yumhee and Stephan once in a while.

"So, this Doctor Banner was trying to replicate the serum that was used on me?" Steve asked without looking at Agent Coulson.

"A lot of people were. You were the world's first superhero. Banner thought gamma radiation might hold the key to unlocking Erskine's original formula." Agent Coulson explained while they see the Hulk roars with fury as he slams a jeep apart in the tablet.

"Didn't really go his way, did it?" Steve asked sarcastically.

"Not so much. When he's not that thing though, guy's like a Stephen Hawking." Agent Coulson described. But it made Steve confused so he explained "He's like a smart person." But unable to supress his excitement anymore, he said to Steve "I gotta say, it's an honor to meet you, officially." Steve only smiled at Coulson while Yumhee and Stephan suppressed the laughter that was trying to escape their lips by either covering their mouths while looking down their phones or by coughing.

"I sort of met you, I mean, I watched you while you were sleeping." Agent Coulson informed. Steve looks down on the tablet for a moment. He stands up, closes the device and walks to the side with Agent Coulson following.

"I mean, I was... I was present while you were unconscious from the ice. You know, it's really, it's just a... just a huge honor to have you on board." Agent Coulson tried to smoothed out.

"Well, I hope I'm the man for the job." Steve replied.

"Oh, you are. Absolutely. Uh... we've made some modifications to the uniform. I had a little design input." Agent Coulson excitedly informed Steve.

"The uniform? Aren't the stars and stripes a little...old fashioned?" Steve asked, skeptical.

"With everything that's happening, the things that are about to come to light, people might just need a little old fashioned." Agent Coulson genuinely said. Steve takes in Agent Coulson's sentiment.

UNDERGROUND LAB

Several soldiers under Loki's mind control run around, preparing to infiltrate whatever Loki has planned. Loki sits down, watching Dr. Selvig work with a CMS device. Loki meditates, until the scepter materializes him back into the throne room of the Other, fully clothed in his horned helmet and armor. The Other appears from the steps.

"The Chitauri grow restless." The Other informed.

"Let them go at themselves. I will lead them into glorious battle." Loki confidently said.

"Battle? Against the meager might of Earth?" The Other mocked.

"Glorious, not lengthy. If your force is as formidable as you claim." Loki countered.

"You question us? You question HIM? He, who put the scepter in your hand, who gave you ancient knowledge and new purpose when you were cast out, defeated?" The Other angrily said.

"I was a king! The rightful king of Asgard! Betrayed!" Loki defended.

"Your ambition is little, born of childish need. We look beyond the Earth to greater worlds the Tesseract will unveil." The Other mocked again.

"You don't have the Tesseract yet." Loki simply said.

The Other runs over to attack him, but stops as Loki points his scepter to him. "I don't threaten, but until I open the doors, until your force is mine to command, you are but words." Loki arrogantly said.

"You will have your war, Asgardian. If you fail, if the Tesseract is kept from us, there will be no realm, no barren moon, no crevice where he can't find you. You think you know pain? He will make you long for something as sweet as pain." The Other places his hand on Loki's head and transports him back to Earth. Loki looks around, menacing.

HELICARRIER LANDING STRIP

The quinjet lands down a massive battleship known as the Helicarrier. It has two runways. One with direct access to a hangar at the rear is aligned along the spine of the vessel. Agent Coulson, Steve, Yumhee and Stephan walk down the ramp, meeting up with Natasha.

"Agent Romanoff. Captain Rogers." Agent Coulson introduced.

"Ma'am?" Steve greeted.

"Hi." Natasha simply replied then she looked to the other two, silently asking who they are.

"Yumhee." Yumhee introduced.

"Stephan." Stephan followed his mother's lead.

"Okay..." Natasha replied raising one eyebrow. She looked at Agent Coulson but he only shrugged. "Anyway, they need you on the bridge. Face time." she informed Agent Coulson.

"See you there." Agent Coulson excused himself. He walks away leaving the others with Natasha, walking towards the railing of the ship.

"There was quite the buzz around here, finding you in the ice. I thought Coulson was gonna swoon. Did he ask you to sign his Captain America trading cards yet?" Natasha asked, amused.

"Trading cards?" Steve asked curiously.

"They're vintage, he's very proud." Natasha explained.

Bruce doesn't notice them walking as he was very anxious. He moves around as people keep walking in his way.

"Dr. Banner." Steve walks up to Bruce and shakes his hands.

"Oh, yeah. Hi. They told me you'd be coming." Bruce replied. Then he looked at the woman and child with Steve.

"Yumhee." Yumhee shaked his hand.

"Stephan." Stephan moved to shake his hand as well. Bruce raised one of his eyebrows but shaked his hand nonetheless.

"Word is you can find the cube." Steve said simply.

"Is that the only word on me?" Bruce asked.

"Only word I care about." Steve seriously replied.

Bruce takes in the sentiment before asking "Must be strange for you, all of this."

"Well, this is actually kind of familiar." Steve replied as he looks around them, agents running around doing their own assigned tasks.

"Gentlemen and lady, you may wanna step inside in a minute. It's gonna get a little hard to breath." Natasha informed.

Suddenly the helicarrier starts shaking.

"Is this a submarine?" Steve asked curiously.

"Really? They wanted me in a submerged pressurized metal container?" Bruce asked sarcastically.

They both move closer to the edge of the helicarrier. Four huge lift fans mounted on the sides starts to lift into the air in vtol flight. Yumhee and Stephan only stand their ground as they wait for Steve who watches in awe.

Bruce smiles. "Oh, no. This is much worse." He said sarcastically again.
