Chapter 102 - Freefalling

The day had started out relatively normal for Ozpin, wake up, have a cup of coffee, get started on paperwork, the normal things you would expect from a headmaster, at least it was a normal day until he heard a loud crash coming from somewhere in the school, swivelling his chair around to see what had happened he let out a sigh once he realized what had happened.

Pulling out a pad from his desk he sent a message to Glynda Goodwitch, "Glynda, please send the handy men to the weapons facility, it seems the testing range ceiling requires repairs", he sighed, taking another sip from his cup as he watched Arthur begin to rapidly fall back towards the same hole he'd emerged from, "He'll be fine…" he muttered and turned back to his desk to continue his paper work.

"Huh" Mulberry stroked his beard as he stared at the crater where Arthur once was, "He didn't vaporize did he?" he looked to Ruby, who was staring at the ceiling.

"Uh, professor…" Ruby pointed up.

"Oh, that makes a lot more sense" He turned his gaze upwards seeing a large hole had formed in the ceiling, his hand moved to block the sun from the new sunlight, his eyes squinting as he saw a small dot slowly getting larger in the distance.

"He gonna be okay?" he turned to Ruby.

"I think so? Hopefully… Yeah… you wouldn't happen to have a cushion or anything?" her voice went from hopeful to realizing Arthur didn't exactly have the strongest constitution when it came to resisting injury, sure, he could handle a decent amount of pain, but uh, his aura never really 'stopped' the main cause of the pain.

"No… we don't normally having flying students in here… though, there was this one girl, Flora she made rocket boots that give her a bit of flight, and her brother I think it was, he tried to one up her and make an entire suit that let him fly…" He chuckled at Trill and his constant want to be superior to his sister, "Though, thing just ended up exploding on him, scrapped the entire thing after that and settled on a hover bike, not exactly flight, but he could definitely beat Flora in a race"

"So, uh, what do we do?" Ruby nervously inquired.

"First, we take a step back" Harold and Ruby took a step back from the hole above their head, "Next, we hope he crashes through another part of the roof to somewhat cushion his fall" he muttered, Arthur most definitely not on such a path.

"Third, we get shovels to pick up the aftermath" He walked over next to his forge puling out two large shovels handing one to Ruby, "And lastly, we never speak of this to anyone" he muttered, his voice turning ominous as he closed his eyes, giving Arthur a prayer for in the afterlife.

Ruby becoming more and more nervous as she watched him approaching the building, "Please don't die, please don't die" she crossed her fingers, some part of her knowing he was going to be fine, and not end up as an Arthur shaped splotch of gore.

"You know Ashe! I never understood the whole sky diving thing!" He shouted out to the Tome that was falling next to him, him being surprisingly calm.

"I wouldn't know, I can't even feel the wind, it just feels like I'm watching someone skydiving" she commented, her voice still audible even though he really shouldn't have been able to hear much due to the wind and the speed at which he was falling.

"So, how you getting out of this?" she asked.

"I'm busy with that!" he shouted, an idea popping into existence in his head, "Maybe this will work?" he whispered to himself, not even able to hear his own whisper, his right hand going into his back pocket, slightly increasing his fall speed at he lost some of his air resistance from slightly streamlining the right part of his body.

His hand digging in his pocket until it grasped a small circular disk and pulling it out of his pocket and slowing his decent once more, his gaze falling to the object for second to make sure it was actually what he wanted.

The object being the half full gravity dust cylinder for In the gauntlet, "Please work!" he w.h.i.n.ed to himself as he moved his two hands closer together, his right quickly pulling out the cylinder and quickly swapped it out, just a few seconds before he arrived back at his previous exit from the building.

"Arthur, you're really trying to piss Newton off aren't you?" Ashe began to laugh as she realized what he was intending to do.

"Don't care! This is going to hurt!" he shouted, his left hand shooting out in front of him his aura guiding the gravity dust out of his palm in an effort to slow his nearly 200km/s freefall, having hi maximum velocity a few seconds earlier.

Gritting his teeth Arthur began to feel his body rapidly begin to decelerate, his bones feeling as if they were grinding against eachother as all his organs shifted forward as he went from 200km/s to 100km/s in the span of a few seconds, which, would have for the most part liquefied his organs had his aura not been actively saving him.

But even the cushion was not enough to save him as he soon crashed into the ground sending a cloud of smoke into the air.

"Well, I'll get the bin bags, you start collecting the mush" Professor Mulberry said, as he watched the cloud of dust begin to dissipate, his shovel resting against his shoulder.

A groan soon coming from the cloud as it disappeared revealing Arthur lying face first in the ground, still in one piece surprisingly, "F.u.c.k you… G forces…" he w.h.i.n.ed, opting to just remain lying face down on the ground for a minute, a dull ache in his left arm… well, body, nothing he couldn't handle though.

"Arthur?" Ruby's voice awoke him from his hazy gforce sickened daze.

"Oh, hey Ruby… I'm okay… Newton and Gforces not so much… ohhhh… I should not be alive right now… god I love aura… ow…" he g.r.o.a.n.e.d, as he planted his right hand onto the ground to push himself up, his entire left arm hanging limply at his side, looking somewhat like his bones had liquefied.

"Huh… that's not good…" he muttered as he shook his body left and right watching as his arm flopped from side to side, turning to Ruby he saw her horrified face.

"Ruby, I am okay" he tried to reassure her, knowing full well that seeing the person you love with quite literally Harry Potters arm after getting hit by a bludger and an vein D.A.D teachers not so useful spell, was most likely not the thing anyone would want to see.

"Tis but a flesh wound" Ashe snorted, trying to hold in her snickers.

"Not now Ashe, in still in shock, maybe later" he whispered to her… "By the way, how much does Skele-Gro cost?" he asked

"About 500, want one? It takes a while, few hours at least with that amount of damage"

"Yeah, please I think Ruby's going to faint if she stares at it any… never mind… she's out…" he sighed as he watched ruby fall backwards eyes having rolled to the back of her head.

"Well now! Aren't you the hardy one, a fall from the high and only a shattered arm! Gyahahaha! Don't worry about it, just get lil Peridot to swap out your bones for some tungsten ones and you'll be right as rain" he began to laugh.

Ignoring this Arthur took a deep breath as he pulled out a yellow white bone like potion bottle from the Tome, quickly uncorking it sending a puff of some into the air, his eye twitching as he starred at the potion bottle, remembering what he'd read about this potion and it's vile taste.

"Now or never" he sighed, bringing the edge of the bottle to his lip, taking one last deep breath before throwing his head back and downing the entire thing as quickly as he could.

His throat feeling as if he'd decided to inhale burning steam as the potion burnt on the way down, his mouth filled with the taste of rotten fish, mixed with rotten surströmming, beef bile and many other types of rotting food stuffs and things that he couldn't even imagine were edible at any point in time.

The moment he pulled the bottle away from his mouth Arthur began to cough and gag, sending spittle flying around him as his body tried to cleanse itself of whatever he'd just put in it. His arm beginning to feel like someone had picked up his own laser stake and began to poke the edges of them into his arm.

"What is in this stuff!?" He shouted staring in horror at the ribcage shaped bottle and its skull shaped cork.

"1 chinese chomping cabbage, 3 puffer-fish, 5 scarab beetles, a whole lot of bone marrow from more things than I can count and a bunch more things" Ashe began to list out, also gagging as she began to taste the exact same thing as Arthur, the Tome having decided she was to also share in his pain.

"Oh that's vile" he murmered after nearly five minutes had gone by, the taste only having gone down ever so slightly.

"You alright there kid?" Harold asked from the outside of the crater.

"Yeah, I'm fine" he muttered, pushing himself up with his singular working hand.

"Just slightly dislocated, I've popped them back in for now but still extremely weak" he tried to play off the incident to somehow shave off some suspicion at what had actually just happened.

"Uhhuh…" Harold nodded, not believing a single word, but also not caring to much as Arthur seemed to be alright, for the most part, "Looked more like your arm turned jelly"

"I'm flexible?" His voice cracked in response, already to feel some slight sensation returning in his immovable arm, 'This is going quite quickly isn't it?' he thought to himself.

"Course it is, you've still got the bone, it's just broken into dozens of pieces, plus, you drank the entire body, so its working overtime and also dealing with the smaller, less problematic cracks in your body." Ashe commented in his head, opting to not fly around him now, regularly cleansing her mouth with water she made from somewhere.

"Can I have some as well?" He asked, hearing her sloshing her mouth.

"Sure, just grab the Skele-Gro bottle and it'll fill up, you're lucky that the waters free, you're going to need a lot" she muttered.

"Thanks" he grabbed the bottle, soon feeling it beginning to gain some weight, quickly tipping it into his mouth he still felt a gagging sensation from the liquid as it still had some remainder of the potion, just much more dilute.

"Ugh" Ruby g.r.o.a.n.e.d as she awakened, "What happened?" she w.h.i.n.ed, blinking rapidly as she saw Arthur sitting cross-legged in a crater, regularly taking a sip from a strange bone like flask and spitting out a mouth full of water after he sloshed it around in his mouth.

Seeing Ruby had finally woen up after nearly ten minutes of unconsciousness Arthur smiled, pulling the bottle away from his mouth and saying, "I'm okay!" whilst raising his left arm to give her a thumbs up… which quickly resulted in failure as his arm lasted all of two seconds before it snapped on his shoulder and fell to his side, his eyes following it as he kept silent for a few seconds before turning back to Ruby and saying, "I will be okay!"
