Altora: The Chronicles Of The Ren-Ky Warriors

Chapter 58 - Ark 5: Search and Change part 2

"He was the high king of theyan's and the first Ren-Ky warrior, the original Ren-Ky warrior at that." Mama k's voice went quiet.

Fang stared at her, "Wait, you mean the very first Ren-Ky warrior was our ancestor—this Uriel person?" Mama K nodded, "Just what sick joke are you tell me?!"

"I am not—"

Fang cut her off, "I know that you are lying, besides Lovell will be better off without that distraction, dwelling in his heart."

Fang stormed off, leaving Mama k. shaking her head at him. "You poor soul, whatever did life do to you to become like this?"

Gale and Zephyr walked with the king; Vail looked back at them. "You seem to not trust Lovell?"

Gale growl as Lovell's was spoken; Zephyr sighed as she looked up at the king, "What do you think of him, your majesty?"

Vail stopped and turned to a window. "I think he is just what this world has been waiting for."

"And what's that?" Gale scoffed, his anger boiling for his usual calm demeanour.

Vail smiled softly. "Hope."

Gale stared at him, blankly as Vail left. Zephyr tilted her head at Gale, who seemed to calm down. "Hope? What does he mean?" Gale murmured as he turned away, leaving Zephyr as she could not figure out what to think. Gale walks down the halls till he bumped into Lovell, Gale went to ask what his problem was then noticed Lovell's eyes hallow and void of something he could not put his finger on.

Lovell turned to Gale, "Oh, Gale? I didn't see you there?"

Gale stood in shock as Lovell seemed to not notice him. "Lovell—are," He cut himself off, seeing what Lovell had done in his eyes. "Lovell, you didn't…" His words falling before they could reach his mouth. Guilt began to rack Gale; he felt as if he was going to throw up.

Lovell stared at him, feeling he knew what was going on, "This is not your fault that I sealed off that part of me, it was my decision to seal both Luna, and I's love for one another to not have an alibi or weakness that the enemy could use against us." Lovell stepped past Gale, "Besides, you have nothing to worry about since you and the others don't trust me anymore."

Gale closed his eyes, seeing that his reaction before the battle had more than slight consequences towards their small group. Gale broke down, worried about how the others would react to Lovell's actions.

Lance walked down the halls with Scarlett, he looked up to see Zero talking to some guards. Lance waved at him, "Hey, Zero!" Zero turned to see Lance, then turned back to the guard. Lance noticed he had a worried look on his face as they got closer.

Zero turned to them, Scarlett stared at him, Zero's expression spoke more than his stance. "Zero, what happened?" Scarlett broke the eerie silence.

Zero closed his eyes, gritting his teeth and clenching his hand. "It's Lovell."

Lance grabbed his arm. "What do you mean?" Zero could not answer him, "Zero, answer me what happened to Lovell?!"

Scarlett grabbed her arm waiting for the answer herself, Zero lifted his gaze at them, "Lovell—he—he cast the spell the seals of the emotion for love, because…" his voice shaking as tears ran down his face. "because of what we did, and to protect Luna as well."

Lance let Zero go, shock overtaking him as he stumbled back, leaning against the wall. "That can't be, right? Lovell—he?"

"We don't know him well," Scarlett interjected, "Besides the Lovell, we all knew is a child suffering. I think that he also did this as a wake-up call for himself and for us that he is willing to sacrifice everything to protect Luna."

Zero slammed the wall in frustration. "I know that Scarlett, but he also did the spell on Luna as well!" Scarlett gasped at the words, as Lances began to feel sick. "Now, because of that, Lovell is a hollowed shell, and Luna is unaware of all of this."

Scarlett stared at Zero, "And what of Fang? What are his thoughts on this?"

Zero looked away, "He says it was the right thing, but to me, it feels like I'm at fault."

Lance sat down, "Lovell was like another brother after we met, pushing my lazy a.s.s to climb the evermore cliffs to get here the first time." Lance smiled as he remembered their time together. "He would also get mad if I took a joke to far. In a way, he ended up this way because we were just judged him through what others had said about the curse."

Zero sat down as well. "Lovell saved my sister and me from a life of thieving and freed us from a cruel man that would have killed us if we didn't do as he says. That when we began to feel as if we found our place at his side and now it feels more like we betrayed him." Zero buried his face in sorrow.

Scarlett smiled, "If we are on the subject, I remember how I met Lovell. I was a late one night when I noticed a beam of light coming from the woods outside my home." Tears weld up in her eyes. "All I thought was to go check it out as a way to get out of my home prison. I never expected to find someone that night." Shuddering from what she had done to Lovell. "I wish things never changed, where Lovell was still the person, we all met on those days. I wish that we never had to witness the death of someone he loved or betray the trust he had in us, because…because Luna was the only one who never gave up on him."

Mama K. listened from a distance; her eyes filled with sadness as Luna stood beside her. Luna wanted to cry but could not feel the need to do so. Luna turned to Mama K., "What should we do from here, Ma'am?"

Mama K. looked at the broken trio. "In two days, I will send you and the others to Hollowed Basin. It's an old fortress that fell during the war against Inroar Dynasty. It's in the Faremin Kingdom, but I believe that it might hold a strong foothold for you and the others as you figure out what to do next to get Gotama's help."
