Alyssum: Journey Of A Queen

Salvia pursed her lips. It was not that she didn't want Violet to have the satisfaction of hurting Alyssa, it was because she didn't want her precious daughter to be affected in any negative way once again because of Alyssa.

Salvia looked at her wristwatch in frustration. There was not much time for her. She has to make the necessary preparation for her plan.

"You will do as you are told," Salvia said firmly. This was her tone that she uses on her subordinates. She had never used this tone on Violet. Violet was stunned for a while. She felt wrong.

But Salvia's tone made her realize her once again that she is adopted and she couldn't hold a candle against Alyssa.

Violet pursed her lips in grievance and her eyes dropped low. Seeing her daughter sad, Salvia changed her tone and way of explaining and said to Violet what was in her mind. she said, "It is not that I don't want to take your revenge on Alyssa it is only that I don't want to implicate you any further. It is known to everyone that you and that bit*h ae enemies, so if anything happens to her, you will be the first person they will suspect. That's why I want you to go out and enjoy and surround yourself with as many people as you want."

After the explanation, Violet understood her mother's intention.

"Oh, I will go now." She said and nodded her head.

But there were still some doubts in her heart.

She glanced towards Salvia suspiciously for one last time and left her mother's room.

After Violet left, Salvia dialed a number.

After four or five calls the speaker picked up the call.

"Hello." He said. His voice was rough and slurry. It seemed that he had woken just now and had passed out after drinking a huge amount of alcohol.

Salvia smirked at this. This is the exact person who will help her with her plan.

"I have a job for you," Salvia stated straightforwardly.

"Pass." The man replied in his drunken state.

Salvia had some idea that this is going to happen.

"What if this job is related to take your revenge on someone who had destroyed your life and had put you in these conditions?"

This question catches the speaker's attention. After a period of silence, he questioned once again in his gruff voice.

"Who is it?"

Salvia smiled and replied, "The only person to lit the fire of destruction upon you."

She continued, "If you are ready, do as I say."

She was the same secretary that had blushed when Alyssa had complimented her before the press conference. Her name is Mary. Salvia didn't like the interaction between Mary and Alyssa. After the press conference, Salvia was angry and was in a terrible mood. It was then Mary came to her room related to some work. Salvia saw this as an opportunity to vent her anger. She stripped Mary naked and let her stand under the shower. She turned the temperature of the shower at six-degree Celsius and made her stand under it. She then hit her with a leather belt.

She hit her until Mary fainted from the pain and shock.

On the other side of the Palace, King Antonio adjourned his court meeting and came to his study room where Alyssa was waiting for her.

After he came, a maid in her early twenties entered the room with some snacks. Alyssa looked at the maid's face and found her very familiar. The maid bowed at King Antonio and placed the snacks on the table between Alyssa and the King. She smiled secretly at Alyssa and left. This confused Alyssa.

Why would a maid smile at her? she thought.

But before she can think any further regarding this matter, King Antonio spoke up.

"How are you doing child?"

"I am doing okay, I guess," Alyssa replied politely.

"You graduated from high school just a few months back. Don't you want to pursue university-level of qualification?" he asked her.

"Yes, I am doing it right now. It is a distance learning course." Alyssa explained.

She was telling the truth. She is really taking courses from a renowned university in finance and computer. Her academic result is so awesome that she got exempted from taking any classes which was mandatory for the rest of the students.

King Antonio sighed and said, "What good will it provide to you. Why don't you go to your university and complete your studies by leaving near it? This is your age to enjoy. Grasp it. You will regret it when you will get old and when you will have no friends and no memories to smile upon."

Alyssa sighed. She knew he was planning to send her away to suppress the rebellion. It was the time to come straight to Antonio with her thoughts.

"I don't want to go." She replied firmly. "I have some work here and I intend to stay here and complete my studies." She said.

To her words, King Antonio pursed his lips and his expression became grave. It was now the time to point the elephant in the room.

"I know you are a smart child." He said. He then continued. "I think you are smart enough to know why you are called here."

"Yes. I think I have some idea regarding this matter." Alyssa spoke.

"So, should I assume you know what you should do after leaving this office?" Kind Antonio asked.

"Yes. But what I will do is still a matter on which I will decide. It will be my will." Alyssa spoke with confidence.

When the rest of the world cover in front of the King, Alyssa was there standing firmly on her ground.

The King's expression became terrible. He said, "You have a lot of influence on the common group of people and this is what is making the court afraid of you. They will not want another person to challenge their power. They will do anything in their power to suppress you or remove you. It will be better on your behalf that you step down on your own."

"I know this. I know that my life is on the line but what I am doing is beneficial for our Kingdom. Isn't it what you want? To remove corruption from the system and to make this place better for our people. No more extraction and no more suffering?" Alyssa spoke seriously. She hoped that this will change the King's thought and he will not interfere regarding her matter. She even hoped that he will support her secretly.

King Antonio remained silent for a while. Each and every word of Alyssa was ringing in his ears after a while he scoffed and said, "Why will I care about these commoners?" He then continued, "I used to think that they will cherish everything that I will do for them but in reality, the crowd has short memory. They forget all the good things you had done for them but will clearly remember their grievances. Is it possible to make each and every person in this country happy? Is it possible to change the evil nature of each and every person present in the country?

The answer is "NO" child. You will burn like a flame to light their world but in the end, she will blame you for the brightness that you will provide for them. I am too tired for this. All I want to live the rest of my life peacefully and to pass my throne successfully to my successor."

Alyssa sighed at his words. He seemed tired, like really tired. The burden that comes with the crown is too heavy to handle. Alyssa knew the struggles he went through and she too agreed with what King Antonio had said earlier but she knew one thing that people will not forget a generous and good king for their whole life. There are some kings in histories too which were worshiped by the people. One word from them and the common people were ready to lay their life for him.

Then her mind went to Adam. Just because she had buried her parents' body, he had pledged to raise an army on her behalf. Just one single good thing from her and she had gained a loyal friend for life who is willing to be her sword.

Even though what Antonio said was partially true, there is no explanation for his cowardness.
