American Fame and Fortune

Chapter 3: Operation Teddy Bear

Chapter 3 Operation Teddy Bear

Taking the check, Martin took a look and found that the amount was wrong, only $100.

 This is two weeks' salary.

Martin recalled the relevant situation when he came and said: "Mr. Max, we agreed on a daily salary of 45 US dollars, and I worked for you 12 days in two weeks."

“You have never signed a daily wage contract with me, it can only be considered as the minimum hourly wage.” Max had already considered the relevant situation when Martin Davis was injured and had already made preparations.

When a worker injured his head in such a complicated place, it would be quite troublesome once he persisted. Max blocked the road in advance: "You fell from the roof and smashed the dog house of the homeowner, Mr. Paul. That dog house was his." It cost US$1,200, and I paid US$1,000 for compensation. You can ask Mr. Paul for verification.”

Paul was Max's friend since he was a teenager, and he had already greeted him: "Bill and Jones who work with you have proven that you drank at work, violated regulations, refused to listen to dissuasion, caused accidents, and brought huge amounts of money to your employer. Bear primary responsibility for property damage.”

“In addition, your behavior has seriously damaged the company’s reputation, causing the company to lose three business orders in succession.” To deal with this poor, dropout, and ignorant young man, Max easily and freely hit a series of combination punches.

He took out a folder and pushed it to Martin: "Look, this is the termination agreement because of you. Your behavior caused the company to lose three important customers."

Martin opened it for a quick browse and saw no problem on the surface, but it would be easy for a company to create such a file.

Max showed a kind smile: "I did not take you to court to claim damages from you. Instead, based on humanitarian considerations, I paid 100 US dollars. You should say thank you."

He also kindly reminded: "If you have any objections, you can appeal to the union and apply for arbitration. Sorry, I forgot, you don't have a regular job, can't afford the membership dues, and have never joined a union."

Martin closed the text and fell into thinking, which was not easy to do.

Max's nose twitched one after another, and his expression became more excited: "If you can't afford a lawyer, you can apply for legal aid from the ATL Legal Aid Association. I heard that you will have to wait in line for several months at most."

This is a comprehensive crushing from class to money, even if Max is just a small boss of a small company.

Martin himself does not understand American laws and regulations. He has not even completed the Happy Education, and it is impossible for him to have relevant knowledge reserves.

Max knocked on the table hard: "Go back, young man, and recover from your injuries. The company welcomes you back at any time."

Martin put away the check and looked at Max. It seemed difficult to get through the normal procedure.

 Nothing else, class and money.

The door at the back opened at this moment, and a strong Latin man appeared at the door.

Martin couldn't do anything with his injured leg, so he turned and left Max's office.

As he went downstairs, he searched his memory carefully to make sure what he had found.

This thing is rampant in Atlanta.

Martin got in the car and saw a Cadillac parked not far away. In his memory, it was Max's car.

After thinking about it for a few minutes, writing down the license plate number, and remembering more about Max, especially the route he had to take home, Martin started the car and drove in that direction.

Max lives in a middle-class neighborhood, not too far from Clayton.

Martin drove down the road in his memory, then turned back to the Clayton community and entered Carter's house.

Elena came up to him and asked: "Did the **** one give you money?"

Martin took out the cash check and handed it to her: "I met a very difficult boss."

“Only $100?” Elena was very angry: “Does he treat you as a beggar?”

Harris took painkillers to suppress the pain temporarily and said: "We apply for arbitration or legal aid. What is the probability of winning?"

Martin sat on the single sofa and said: "We are poor people, and time is a huge cost."

Hall suddenly answered: "Get a gun and kill him!"

Lily sneered: "You want to go to jail?"

Elena punched each of them on the head and pointed to the bedroom door: "Go in, I won't say anything, you two idiots are not allowed to come out!" The siblings turned their heads to the side and entered the bedroom.

Martin waited until the bedroom door closed and spoke again: "Harris, can you move around normally?"

Harris nodded: "I took painkillers, no problem."

Martin said without any nonsense: "I have worked for Max for two weeks and know him to a certain extent. He is a family man. He leaves the company and goes home at 3:30 every day. He takes the same road every time. So, There is a suitable intersection on the road, and we will wait for him there.”

Elena was surprised: "What do you want to do? Robbery?"

Harris flinched: "If you rob Max, the probability of going to jail is as high as 90%. I also want to apply to college."

"What are you two idiots thinking?" Martin slammed his fist on the armrest of the sofa: "I am a person with principles and bottom line!"

Elena couldn't understand: "I don't want to go to hell's prison, Lily and Hall are two idiots..."

"Either shut up or listen to me!" Martin quickly recounted what he was considering, and then said: "Within their rules, the poor can never defeat the rich. We must jump out."

ˆ Harris murmured: "Principles and bottom lines..."

Martin doesn’t care: “We have principles and bottom lines, but the principles and bottom lines must be flexible and changeable.”

Elena gave two middle fingers and agreed: "The idiot finally became a little smarter."

Martin grabbed Elena's leg, pulled down a few hairs from the teddy bear puppet pants, and asked, "Can I get a teddy bear costume?"

Elena raised her eyebrows: "No problem."

Martin asked again: “Are there any cameras or anything like that?”

Harris was the first to say: “Scott’s store should have some second-hand goods.”

“Very good!” Martin ordered: “Elena, go get the doll costume, I’ll go find Scott, Harris, watch those two idiots, don’t let them cause trouble again!”

Elena was the first to stand up and said as she walked out: "You lazy guys, hurry up and run like crazy, Operation Teddy Bear has begun!"

She drove back to the shopping mall where the sale was held.

Martin went to the north side of the community and found a micro-grocery store.

Scott Carter was sitting at the counter, grabbing a bottle of rum and pouring it into his mouth. When he saw Martin, he burped and said, "Boy, what are you doing here?"

Martin came to the counter: "Your son Harris broke his arm."

Scott took a sip of wine and said, "Remind him to go to the hospital."

Martin knew that Scott would not pay and asked, "Do you have a camera?"

"There are no cameras, but there are camcorders." Scott put down the wine bottle and took out a miniature video camera in a showy way: "New JVC goods, just received them last week. Find a buyer for me, and I'll give you a commission."

Martin had seen this model and took it to play with: "Can it still be used?"

Scott stretched his neck: "Of course it works!"

Martin picked it up and left without looking back: "Harris needs it for treatment. I'll give it back to you later."

"Damn it, stop, stop!" Scott shouted fiercely, but did not pursue him.

Back at Carter's house, Elena came back soon, and the three of them met and set off together.

 Operation Teddy Bear begins.
