An Inevitable Fate?

Chapter 14 - 14: She didn't miss me.

"Goodbye, Mr. Lee"

Rachel didn't get a chance to see his expression as Darren dragged her before Aaron could reply.

Seeing them both leaving together, Aaron touched his diamond stud and mocked himself.

'What did I expect?'

Outside the club, Rachel struggled with her heels as he kept dragging her.

When they reached the parking lot, he let her hand free but showed no intention of leaving that place.

"I will drive as you had to drink."

Rachel extended her hand for the keys. He simply tossed the keys and sat in the passenger seat. He was angry. Rachel understood.

All the way, no one spoke. Darren didn't ask anything and also, Rachel didn't explain anything as she hadn't done anything wrong.

Soon they reached her mansion. Both climbed out of the car.

"Thanks for the party," Rachel spoke intending to strike a conversation but he just nodded.

"Go home safely." She turned to leave but he held her arm and made her face him.

"I... I'm sorry." He stuttered.

Seeing her puzzled face, he continued to explain.

"I'm sorry. I was rude. I didn't mean to hurt you. I would never do that again. I promise." He hoped Rachel could forgive his behavior.

Rachel stood in front of him with a blank expression. Seeing her like that, Darren got even tenser.

"Can you forgive me this once? Please?" He was ready to kneel also.

"It's alright. I'm not hurt. Drive safely."

"Thank you! I will leave now. Take a rest. Goodnight." Darren hugged Rachel and left the mansion.

After sending him back, she went inside and entered her room. She went to bed comfortably as she felt relaxed after taking the shower. She saw a red handprint on her wrist, which was the result of Darren's anger. She remembered her saying she was not hurt. Was she hurt? of course, she was! Not physically but mentally.

Aaron drove his car aimlessly. After an hour, his car came to halt. He got down from the car and saw the familiar place. He climbed on top of the car and laid down facing the sky. Back then, he used to come to this place whenever he was happy or sad. It was an abandoned field situated outside the city, filled with tall trees and bushes. There was a small pond. He would stay there until his mind felt relaxed.

Observing the moon in the dark sky, he mumbled to himself.

"Why are there no stars today? I guess you are lonely as well. See, I came to give you a company. Did you miss me all these years?... " There was a slight pause as he recollected.

"She didn't miss me though." As he spoke, a single tear fell from his eyes.

Alan was sitting near the window side table in one of the coffee days. The sun was shining brightly. He was sipping his favorite Cafe-Mocha. He had made an appointment to meet with one of the famous managers, Mike. He was going to start his studio, he needed some of the managers to recruit and manage the models. If everything went well, he would be starting it by the next month at most. As he was waiting for Mike, he saw a familiar face and paused his movements.

Jane entered the same coffee day. Since it was not a weekend, it was less crowded. She went directly and sat in her usual spot which was diagonal to Alan, facing her back. A waiter came to greet her.

"Regular one, please." She winked at him. He nodded while blushing. Most of the waiters there knew her as she was their regular customer. She opened her laptop and started working on her homework.

Alan was seeing her for the first time after the engagement party. He wanted to meet her but didn't know any of the details except for her name. She was wearing denim shorts with a black off-shoulder top along with black boots. Her hair was tied into a messy bun exposing her slender neck and shoulder.

'Is that a mole?'

Alan got stunned from his thoughts and cursed himself.

'How immersed was I to even identify one small mole?' He shook his head and averted his eyes elsewhere. 'I am not seeing her again. Hmph!'

After two minutes, Alan found himself starring at her back without blinking his eyes. 'Damn it'

He was thinking about how to speak to her but a guy wearing jeans and a leather jacket went and hugged Jane. He sat opposite her after kissing her cheeks.
