An Innocent Heart Longing For Love

Chapter 100 - Let Us Part Ways With Mutual Concern (2)

The sun descended in the horizon; leaving the sky stained with brilliant yellowish-orange. It was a relaxing view, but Shane was too disturbed to relish it.

His phone rang again for the seventh time, he picked the phone and checked the caller-ID. Sure enough, It was his mother!

'How long is she going to work hard to stick us together?'

Finally, he gave in and answered the call. He checked the time before saying a 'hello' to his mother. It was already half past six in the evening.

"Are you still busy? You are supposed to go to the party tonight arranged by your friends. Did you just forgot it?"

"Mom, I am exhausted! I don't think I can come home today. I will inform my friends to call off. So you need not worry about it anymore."

Unquestionably, he was tired. He was too tired to move even a little from his office chair. The papers he read a while before had consumed all his energies left in his body.

Luyisa exclaimed, "Boy! Your friends and family members are making efforts to celebrate your marriage union. Why don't you invest some course? It won't kill you!"

Shane replied ironically to shut down the conversation entirely, "The problem is, I don't have enough time on my hand to invest. I have a lot of mess to clear up yet, I can't play around partying at this crucial time. JUST GIVE ME A BREAK!"

Luyisa seized her breathing until Shane stopped exploding. Certainly, she could hear the frustration in his voice. He was too loud that even Anna who was sitting a little away from the phone could hear his voice.

"Fine! Just have some sleep, I am hanging up the phone."

Before Luyisa could hung up the phone, Shane stopped her, "Mom! When did Anna get back home?"

"What?!" Luyisa quickly gave a glance to Anna.

"Didn't Anna mention that she got a meeting in the morning? Did she went out or not?" Shane posted this question with the last ray of hope. If she never went out, then there was a possibility that someone else was playing tricks.

Luyisa shared a glance with Anna, while Anna rocked her head hard in nervousness. Luyisa replied with a faint smile, "Ahh!!! She came back an hour before, Why did you ask?"

Anna who was on the edge of the seat relaxed after Luyisa's statement, 'It would be super awkward if Aunt told him the truth.'

Whereas on Shane's face disappointment flashed, 'She actually went out!'

"Nothing! I just want to ensure her safe return, that's all. Ok fine! I will hang up the call for now." He did not give a chance for Luyisa to continue further, he instantly cut the call after the inquiry.

Luyisa turned back to face Anna and saw a withdrawn face, "Ahh! That boy is exhausted, there is no point in going out with him. Since you are fully dressed, why don't you accompany this old lady for the shopping? I am bored too! We can go shop for the wedding, What do you say?"

Anna posted a weak smile to her Aunt as she replied, "Aunt! I am sorry! I can't pretend as nothing happened. Can you please excuse me!"

As the words dropped, Anna stood up from her couch and marched to her room. While Luyisa seemed stunned as she stared at the back of the fragile girl. This was the first time, Luyisa hearing Anna to speak bravely out.

Anna, that everyone knew was a polite and a highly tolerated girl. Now, what has transpired to her?

Once Anna entered her room, she slammed shut the door and sat down on the floor. If this situation happened before, she would have felt disappointed. But now, she felt none.

'Am I got used to his way of life, or else, is this how married life works?'

--------------------

Tiny droplets of water wetted the warm marbles of the balcony. Sooner the smell of the soil filled the entire room which made Anna's feet to train to the balcony filled with flower pots.

She sat down in the wet chair, and it was too late in the night for anyone to notice her lounging in the balcony all alone. She kept staring at a flower in a pot, and her night gown was slowly drenched full.

The pace of the rainfall picked up slowly, the flowers in the pot wiggled in the storm. Anna watched it without baiting an eyelid. At one point, the withered flower fell to the ground unable to sustain the force of the wind.

Anna bent down and picked the flower, all she discerned was a withered young petals falling from the stalk. She held the stalk lightly in one of her hand, and consequently hot droplets stained her cheeks.

It began to slide down uncontrollably, and even the rain droplets could not compete with the race.

Anna stood up from the chair and walked to the rail of the balcony and clutched it tightly as she screamed out loud in agony. Her distressing cry continued but all her loud scream died out in the heavy wind, She shook the rail in defeat.

Holding the steel rail, she squatted down wailing even more. By then, a bright light attracted her attention. She looked into the direction and found a car reversing from the way to their residence.

Anna was damn positive that there was no car on the way to their residence when she stepped to clutch the balcony steel rail. Which means it must be stationed there for a while.

Sooner Anna recognized that it was a black Jaguar car which belonged to Shane, "How long was the car stationed there?"

All her wailing was halted at once, 'Is that really Shane?! Would he saw me crying?'
