Chapter 25 - Presence

An ominous cold purveyed thought the room suddenly as if reciprocating the feeling within Mason's soul, the small room slowly started to become speckled with ice patches which grew like an encroaching beast hunting its quarry.

Hairs on end and frozen in surprise Mason stared at the open pages, with each breath the chills increased, his breath smoked over and now pearl white condensation vented from his breath.

Something bad was happening he thought to himself, he stepped towards the book trying to fight to try to overcome this presence which pushed down on his very being as if the weight of the world lay on his shoulders.

'so cold, so very cold'

Each step heavy and ladened he moved with purposefull zeal towards the book, Mason slowly started to fall under his own weight unable to stand as if he was resisting the urge to ball up and stay warm, he slowed down to a crawl and as he crawled at the book clawing at it he closed trying to grasp salvation.

As the cold overtook him he was taking his last sanguine breath but with the desperation of a cornered animal closed the book with his might as if a malign presence fought against his interference he pushed with what his body's last shards of resilence.

The book closed and with a flash the room became normal and the presence lifted with an eary quickness leaving no sign but Mason shuddering in the cold.

Mason jumped back pushing himself while scooting to the corner frantically, curling up, he was scarred, whatever that was it could of killed him .

Mason looked around he was confused, all the cold dissipated.

Mason mind was in disarray but as he thought he focused and looked back in his mind to the hunt , he breathed with a slow and measured inhalation, closing his eyes he listened to his rapturous heart beating and breathed, each breath measured to match his heart as it came to a slow ,Mason savored each and every breath as if it was his last, sweat which trickled down his brow dripped down his face could be seen .

He survived, now he needs to understand what the hell just happened, it was like a malignant presence seemingly embedded itself onto the book and those who read it activated something in it causing what he could best describe a cold wind as if brought the wind of Ymir to kill those who dare to look at the notes as if trying to stop people from reading it.

Clearly the cold and ominous presence he felt from the cave, this was its root.

'Was this set by the insane mage Or the being he warned against'

A cold premonition fell from this speculation and traveled down his spine like a bolt of energy going down a lightning rod.
