Chapter 15: Sunflowers in the Language of Flowers

A horse-drawn carriage takes me to the fountain square on the main street.

After seeing Sebastian off, I go to Elvis’s store.

“Yo, Ginjiro, you were awesome yesterday.”

As soon as Elvis found Ginjiro, Elvis smiled and spoke to him.

His mother thanked me for the delicious yokan.

She said, “When you take Elvis out, please bring yokan again.” that’s an expensive yokan from a long-established shop.

While I was thinking about this, Elvis offered me a small sunflower flower.

“Here, take this, Ginjiro.”

Giving flowers to a guy, indeed only handsome men can do that.

Elvis wanted to skip out again, but I wanted to go back to the inn early today, so I passed up the offer.

Holding a sunflower in my right hand, I walk to the inn, Hungry Bear.

The people I pass are smiling.

As I arrived in front of the inn, the third bell rang.

“Ara, nice, who gave you the sunflower?”

Clara-san at the reception called out to me.

“I just got it from Elvis.”

Then Clara taps me on the shoulder and says, “Good for you.”

“I wanted to eat Ginjiro-san’s meal. Are you okay tomorrow?”

Clara asks me, a little sulkily.

I tell her that I will definitely make it tomorrow and I hope she will eat it.

The sunflowers I had in my hand were displayed in the dining area, by her son, Hanz, who brought a ceramic vase with him.

Apparently, in this world, there is a custom of giving sunflowers to one’s best friend.

And it seemed to be honorable, which made me kind of happy.

TLN: Sunflower in the language of flower.

It looks like it will be a little while before dinner, so I return to my room and open the net store.

I put in the large gold coin I received and buy a set of basic cosmetics first.

Next, choose a shampoo. Various shampoos were displayed, and Ginjiro bought the famous shampoo and conditioner in the red bottle.

The rest of the time, I buy ao cat food cans, open the lids, and then put them away in the item box.

Now that I have more money, I also bought a log of cured ham (prosciutto), which I have been interested in but couldn’t afford because it was too expensive.

It is a high quality product aged for 36 months and comes with a knife.

I also buy wine to go with the prosciutto, but this does not stop me.

I also buy a bottle of expensive sparkling wine and some cheese.

Of course, I also buy the products recommended by the online store one after another.

Leaving the room, Ginjiro went to the dining hall, where several adventurers were already drinking.

===

“I’ll borrow your kitchen. Also, here’s a bottle of honey for the place.”

The morning hours are over, and the adventurers and merchants have left the inn long ago.

The adventurers left early in the morning, and those who were taking a day off today went out somewhere after breakfast.

Since there are no more customers in the dining hall, Ginjiro decides to rent the kitchen and start cooking.

Now it is time for Ginjiro’s favorite dish.

First, the black bread from the cafeteria is made into breadcrumbs.

Next, onions are chopped and carefully sauteed over low heat until candy brown.

While letting it cool, I use a mincer to grind together a piece of raging cow that Bernie shared with me, and the wild boar meat.

Bernie was curious about the mincer, but I decided to explain later.

The crazy salt was used to season the meat.

Milk and eggs were not available at Hungry Bear, so I decided not to use them for this hamburger.

“Here you go. It is a popular dish in my hometown called hamburger steak. It is covered with a sauce made from crushed and stewed tomatoes. When you break the meat, the juices come out from the inside, so please eat it with care.”

Ginjiro lays out a plate of hamburgers and bread in front of everyone.

Salad and soup were prepared by Hantz, leftovers from today’s breakfast.

“This is good.”

Bernie mutters to himself.

Lutz, the oldest son, and Hanz, the second son, are devouring hamburgers without a care in the world.

Franz, the third son, is huffing and puffing on a hot hamburger to cool it down.

Smiling at the three naughty brothers, Clara also ate a hamburger steak.

I was a little worried about some parts of the dish, but it seems that everyone liked it.

After the meal, I made a pot of tea and took a few moments to relax.

Of course, I put a lot of honey in the tea for Bernie.

Lutz, the eldest son, enjoys tea while studying, but the two youngest children, Hanz and Franz, are not interested in tea.

It can’t be helped, so I pour room temperature Coke, which I have stored in my item box, into a wooden cup.

At first, he said it was weird how black and fizzy it was, but once he took a sip of the cola, he was hooked.

He says he can’t imagine life without Coke anymore, even though he is still tiny.

Ginjiro couldn’t resist getting excited to see what would happen if this was a chilled Coke.

“Thank you, Ginjiro-chan.”

Clara looked pleased.

Thinking back, since that moment, Clara has started calling me Ginjiro-chan.

I was happy to feel that we were building a relationship of trust.
