Army Of True Salvation

Chapter 82 - This Ghost

Shannara sat beside Sheloah after she had a talk with Veon. Veon had gone outside to look around and see if there were no more zombies. Sheloah felt quite awkward, but she initiated the conversation anyway.

"So, how's your talk with Veon," she asked and Shannara stretched her arms.

"So-so," she answered directly then she hugged both of her knees. "I'm just happy that we met each other again since I left the city," she added and Sheloah smiled at her, feeling actually sincere and happy about their meeting.

"That's a great thing indeed. It had been three years, right? You endured that long, knowing you loved him ever since," Sheloah commented and Shannara giggled a bit.

"We'll be leaving soon once Tyler wakes up, right," she asked and Sheloah nodded at her.

It turned silent for a while until Shannara got the courage to ask her a question that she had been meaning to ask since they both knew and fell in love with the same person.

"Admit it… you were surprised when you discovered that Veon was my childhood friend, whom I fell in love with, right?" Sheloah was taken aback, but she laughed a bit.

"Yeah," she admitted and she looked at the girl beside her. "You too, right? When you discovered that Veon was the best friend I fell in love with," Sheloah said and Shannara nodded, laughing with her.

She was quite relieved to have a light hearted conversation with Shannara despite the shocking discovery of them loving the same guy. She hoped that they would still remain as friends, but it would be difficult from time to time since they would be "battling" for Veon's attention.

The two girls noticed that Tyler was waking up just in time the moment Geof and Veon walked in. Sheloah was happy to see him wake up so she instinctively hugged him.

"Hey, Tyler, I'm sorry I dragged you into this!"

Tyler g.r.o.a.n.e.d in pain and Sheloah quickly stopped hugging him. He then spoke.

"No biggie. As long as you're okay," he said and he looked at Veon. "I'm more afraid of getting killed by him, anyway," he added and Sheloah looked at Veon. Veon just rolled his eyes at Tyler.

"Whatever."

Geof laughed when he heard what Veon said. To him, he felt that Veon was just in denial of his feelings towards Sheloah.

"Let's go back to the hotel. Once we arrive, we will devise a new plan. We need to leave right away," Veon said, changing the subject and everyone nodded.

"Veon… Shannara and I decided that she would be coming with us since she's alone. Is that okay," she asked and Geof looked at Shannara.

"This ghost will be joining your group?"

Shannara punched him again on the c.h.e.s.t, this time hard, and it made Geof wince.

"Shut up! Whatever have I done to you, dimwit!"

Geof squinted his eyes at her. "You scare me to death every time I train," he said and Shannara rolled her eyes at him. Sheloah laughed at how the two clicked. Veon broke the atmosphere.

"Shannara can come with us. It's a good thing for her to join us. It's for her safety," he said then Shannara turned to look at him, smiling.

"Thank you," she said and Shannara hugged Sheloah. "If it weren't for your stupid decision, I wouldn't have met you and Veon," she said jokingly and Sheloah laughed as she hit her lightly on her shoulder.

"You didn't have to tell me about my stupidity," Sheloah said and the three boys laughed.

"Let's go," Veon said, with urgency evident in his voice. "We need to rest and we need to prepare for the upcoming days," he added and they all started walking back, with the two boys supporting Tyler.
