Army Of True Salvation

Chapter 90 - Made Sheloah Smile

They were done dealing with the zombies when suddenly, Sheloah received a call from Sir Erick. She answered the call and put it on loud speaker.

"Sir, are the others safe?"

"Yes, they are," he answered and Sheloah sighed in relief. "Although a lot of people are hurt so we need to set camp here first before we continue with our travel," he added and Sheloah clicked her tongue.

'This was expected.'

"Roger. Tell Veon that I will be going to where you guys are," she added then Sheloah ended the call.

Sheloah sat on the floor for a while to rest. She sighed when she realized that around her laid the corpses of her cherished classmates. Before she knew it, she was already crying.

Shannara noticed this and her expression showed hurt. She knelt down beside Sheloah and gave her an embrace, comforting her.

"Most of them died protecting the others. It's something worth dying for, right? You put them out of their misery, too," she said and now Sheloah couldn't hold back her tears.

"I know… but it pains me to know that they are no longer here," Sheloah said and Shannara started c.a.r.e.s.sing her back, trying to ease her cry.

"I know. It's really painful to lose people who are important to you. But you know what? I think that they appreciate you for helping them ease the pain of becoming a zombie," Shannara said and this had calmed her down a bit.

For someone who Sheloah had just met, and for someone who had also turned into her rival, Shannara was really caring and friendly.

"Let's just move forward and not waste their death, okay," Shannara said finally and Sheloah nodded, wiping off her tears.

"You're right," she said, then she tried to smile. "Thank you, Shannara."

Shannara helped Sheloah stand up and she nodded at her, acknowledging her thanks.

"Let's go! We need to get out of this place," Shannara said then she held her hand, leading her out of the bus.

Shannara entered the bus of the parents and they saw Isobel tending to the students who were hurt. The other parents were helping as well and the others were preparing some light food for all of them to eat to recuperate their strength. Sheloah's uncle and Sir Erick went back to their respective vehicle and when Sheloah was assured, she approached Veon and together, they went back to their respective car as well.

"Sheloah?"

Veon was worried when he saw how depressed Sheloah's face looked, but he knew why Sheloah cried her eyes out. He reached out to her as he pulled Sheloah's body in his embrace and this had surprised Sheloah a little.

"They did their best protecting the others. They probably knew what was going to happen but still they fought. Don't worry too much, okay?"

Sheloah nodded as she rested her head on Veon's c.h.e.s.t, trying to regain some strength. She could not speak because of the sadness she felt but because of Veon and Shannara, she brightened up a little.

They both entered the car and Veon started driving following the two vehicles in front of them. They were on their quest on looking for a safe spot of camping for the night before they continue their journey going to Tarlac.

Veon looked at Sheloah from the corner of his eye. "You look so ugly, Sheloah."

'Eh?'

"What the hell!?"

Hearing that quite annoyed Sheloah so she started hitting Veon on his shoulders as he drove. Veon was laughing and Sheloah stopped and huffed in annoyance when she noticed that Veon was just teasing her in such a hectic and depressing situation.

"You don't have to point it out, dimwit!" Veon laughed again but he smiled when Sheloah came back to her feisty old self.

"That's the Sheloah I know," he said and Sheloah looked at him. She realized that Veon teasing her was just one of his ways of cheering her up in times of sadness.

This made Sheloah smile.
