Chapter 10 - Prepping for Departure

Drip, drip, I watched as the tears trickled down my mother's face. I wondered why she was weeping after the phone call ended. "Mother, why are you crying?" I asked. She slowly made her way towards me and wrapped her arms around me, "It's your sister, she ...she's passed away." She muttered softly. I was too young to understand what was going on, however, since my mother started crying, I did too. We stood there wrapped in each other's arm for what seemed like hours when my father finally arrived home. He walked into the room, where for the first time I saw tears go down his face. Neither my mother or father shared words, they were just simply clinging together in their embrace. When they were finally done my father turned to speak to me, but instead of hearing his voice, I heard, "Sire are you alright!?" I was confused until I woke up to see Verial staring down at me from the side of my bead. "Ah, no I'm alright, I just had a bad dream," I replied while wiping some tears off my face. Verial's worried expression vanished and was replaced with relief. His hands which were gripping the side of my bed were now placed behind his back. "I'm grateful to hear that, is there anything you need me?" "Actually, yes, could you fetch me a drink?" "Yes sir, but is there any type of drink you require?" Verial asked. "Uh, what type of drinks are there?" "Well, we have Prucky's urine, Salty Dog, Glazed pepper foot, and-" "I think I'll just have the water," I answered quickly. I mean honestly, what types of names are those? Though there's a chance the drinks were named that way, since it's the Underworld, I'm taking no chances. Plus, no matter what there was no way the water could be messed up too, right? "Yes sir, I'll have your drink here in just a moment," Verial replied back with a bow. Verial then quickly exited the room to retrieve my drink. With Verial gone, I started to ponder my recent dream. I probably would have completely forgotten about that memory, if it weren't for my dream. After moving to the orphanage, I tried to seal off all those memories of when I still lived with my parents. Clearly, though, some of these memories managed to sneak its way upon me in my dream of all places.

I don't remember much about my sister, all I knew was that she had been 7 or 8 years older than me. I did remember some things about her though, she had a great interest in video games. This is quite surprising considering the average girl didn't take much interest in video games. I also remembered how she would tease me a lot which resulted in her getting reprimanded for it on numerous occasions. However, despite all her teasing, at times she seemed like an angel who was nice and kind to me. She would take me to the park, restaurants, and various other places. My greatest memory of her was the same year she died, so the same with my parents. I had been having a horrible day when my sister walked in and helped comfort me. When I was no longer upset or crying, she took me to her room and talked about the bad things she went through. Unfortunately, that's where it got too hazy for me to remember since she started talking about things my 8-year-old brain couldn't comprehend. But I do remember hugging her at the very end, and that would also be the last day before she left. When I asked my parents about it, they told me she went to a boarding school, where they stay there for the year. But, when I went to ask in more detail, they would tell me not to ask about it. I would never get to ask about it though, because my sister died, with my parents just following her about four months later. Later, when I learned of their deaths, I felt disgusted, but at the same time. Deep in my heart, I felt like there was more to the story, I don't feel like that's how they really died. It just didn't seem like them. Anywho, there was no way for me to figure out now. I decided to just accept it as I have been for over a decade. Shaking my head, I took these thoughts and stored them to the back of my mind, not to be seen again.

As I was putting on my clothes I heard a knock at the door and Verial soon entered. "Sire remember that tonight you must partake in the wishes of the mistress." As Verial set the glass down my mind went blank. I had been so focused on the other crap I've dealing with that I forgot about that issue. "Yes that's right, but, Verial what would happen if the S.u.c.c.u.b.u.s were to have s.e.x with me, do you know the outcome? Verial looked at me puzzled, "Well sire, I don't know much about the other s.e.x of my race, but I guess that they...would have s.e.x with you?" Dang, it seems like Verial knows nothing either "Verial,... uh, could you pack both our clothes and place them in my room? After talking to the mistress tonight I would like for us to camping." Verial frowned, "Sire, are you sure want to camping? Night in the Underworld causes some unwanted creatures to appear, and especially outside the safety of the castle." "Yes Verial indeed, we won't adventure too far out, just a bit away from the castle. I would like to experience what it's like outside the castle." I replied. Okay, everything that I'm saying is complete bullshit. This was pretty much my backup plan if I found that having s.e.x with the S.u.c.c.u.b.u.s would kill or possibly harm me. Though being outside of the castle was also risky according to Verial, but it would save me from dying faster to the s.u.c.c.u.b.u.s. I had been hoping that I could possibly get some other demon or being to help me, but based on observations and interactions; I clearly am in the lower hierarchy of Demon Lords. Especially considering that I only appeared to have one servant, and he was personally summoned one at that. Which really got me thinking if I really deserved to be called a Demon Lord considering how low my status was. I kinda felt like one of those poor nobles who was barely above a commoner, but I couldn't care less whether I was one or not. Since I mean this isn't even my body in the first place. But, this also once again got me thinking, assuming that once were transferred to the game, we would probably take the appearance of our avatar. Thus wouldn't I technically become a Demon Lord? Although I never wore or acted edgy in public, that was an entirely different matter while gaming. Every game I've played, I've tried to be edgy, such as mastering Kayn in League of Legends. And numerous other attempts at trying to appear edgy; this new appearance really got my edgy nerves tingling. "Sire, are you alright!" Verial yelled in front of me. "Yes, I'm sorry, I just got thinking about something," I replied back apologetically. Verial sighed, "Sire, you must stop losing focus of what's going on in front of you, otherwise one day it could hurt you. I started to feel bad, admittingly my actions since yesterday had been pretty bad. I kept daydreaming often in absolute awe of where I am. Not to mention that Verial has shown that he's concerned about me, and seems very loyal. "Yes your right Verial, I'll start paying more attention," I replied. Verial then told me he would go get his stuff and his and start packing and left my room. Verial also pointed out a real problem of mine, I often get tunneled vision to the point I block everything going on around me. This is why I never could make it to a high tier in almost any combat games such as League, and yes even Gladiator. This is, of course, a major hindrance in combat and can 100% be fatal. That's why I planned to be someone who could sit in the back and do stuff instead of fighting at the front. Plus, I'm a coward, why would any coward fight at the front? I also felt reassured that I could this due to how the character was designed and all.

Looking over to the table, where my water should be was blood. "Did Verial hear incorrectly?" I muttered to myself. Then again considering I'm in the Underworld this could very well be what the water is. It didn't look thick either, almost as if it were water just colored red. Going against my every being, I lifted the glass up and smelled the liquid inside. To my surprise, I didn't smell anything, just like trying to smell something inside a water bottle. "F.u.c.k it, it's now or never!" I told myself as I brought the glass to my mouth. I thought I would be tasting some nice iron blood inside my mouth, but instead, I got a nice taste of water. Wow, that's amazing, it tastes exactly like water, actually even better. I once again brought the glass to my lips again and began drinking. Before I knew it, the glass was empty. I looked at the empty glass in shock. I felt weird drinking the 'red water' because it looked almost exactly like blood. But, it didn't, it tasted exactly like water, except even better. It tasted similar to regular water, however, unlike normal water, it had something different. At first, it tasted like water but the aftertaste left that hint of sweetness. "If only we had this in the real world, Americans might try drinking more water." I jokingly told myself. Unfortunately, I also fell in this category, however, I drank at least 700mm of water a day so I didn't feel too bad compared to some other people. Taking one last glance at the glass, I exited my room to head over to the library.

On my way there I noticed some other possible Demon Lord's since they caused the servants bow or kneel in respect. Something that they didn't do for me, a clear indicator that I definitely was of lower status. Though the servants did bow their heads or other signs of giving respect; no-where near the effort they would do for these other possible Demon Lords. I didn't particularly care, surprisingly I felt a little irritated that they didn't give me as much respect. This weird emotion startled me, as if it wasn't 'my emotion,' but rather someone else's. From that sudden emotion spike, I now knew that there were remnants of the former Dagon affecting me. This also caused me to slightly worry if I was in full control. I thought that the other Dagon possibly transferred to another body or something. But at last, it seems like he still resides somewhere hidden deep inside. This also brought me back some reality that there is a chance that once the admin or system figures out that I'm an NPC they will force me out and bring me back to my original avatar. Which to be honest I'd be quite sad. I would prefer to be this Dagon wandering around as the only player in the Underworld. Taking a somber sigh, I finally arrived at the library where I began to search for books on any information about succubi.

I spent nearly half an hour combing through the few shelves in the library with no results on any books containing information of succubi. Just as I was going to give up, I saw a book laying the back shelf. Gathering up my hope I flipped it on the other side to see an image of a s.u.c.c.u.b.u.s arrogantly standing on top of a person. I had a mini burst of excitement that was a book with information on succubi. Otherwise, I would have to flee from the castle because of the possibility of the s.u.c.c.u.b.u.s killing me. After spending 20 minutes reading its content, I confirmed that I had to go. The book basically said that if you were to have s.e.x with a s.u.c.c.u.b.u.s they would take control of said person due to l.u.s.t. Essentially, you would succ.u.mb to absolute l.u.s.t and become like a puppet on strings. Though I didn't know if this applies to a Demon Lord, I definitely didn't want to test that out. I quickly grabbed some interesting books I found and hurried back to my room where I found Verial waiting for me. "Sire I have everything here for you, but we still have plenty of hours left before your meeting with the mistress, would you like more water?" Verial asked. "No, I'm fine, but Verial I need to tell you something." I determined to just tell Verial about the mistress's request and the information I found about succubi. I crossed my fingers that he would be loyal to me since I needed him if I were to get through this Underworld. When he replied saying, "Sire, have you forgotten that I am your summoned servant, I will always be loyal to you, and I will never serve another master besides you." Hearing Verial's express full display of loyalty, I felt a knot untie inside me. It brought joy to me that at least one person in this damn castle would be loyal to me. "Anyways, sire you know if we want to go 'camping' we should get out of here soon before it gets too dark." "Yes, you're right I assume that you can prep us for our departure of the castle," I replied with a smile. Verial responded to me with a smile that I swore hid some l.u.s.t within and informed me that he would get ready for their escape. I guessed that my feminine appearance might trigger some reaction within the incubus, which got me a bit anxious if this could become a problem later on. Shaking my head, I brushed these thoughts aside to deal with in the future. At the moment I had a castle to escape from and I had to get ready!

At an unknown facility somewhere in the Sahara desert: Chung Zang finished the last of problems relating to the game. The recent one he dealt with had infuriated him to the max. With the player saying that he couldn't open the HUD, which he replied to the person saying that there were wasn't a HUD in the game. "I honestly can't believe there are people this stupid," Chung muttered to himself. Just as he was going to log out one more notification appeared of another report. When it appeared on his screan he almost wanted to scream in frustration, "I swear if it's another stupid report I'm gonna go insane." Chung's mood wasn't in a good state and was swearing up a storm pulling up a notification. However, his bad mood instantly disappeared when the source said it came from a player called Dagon. Although he didn't know if it really was him there were practically no people named Dagon so he hoped that it was him. He instantly opened up the notification and read his complaint. After reading the complaint his expression froze in shock. Chuckling, Chung said, "Dagon what the hell you actually broke the system on the first day, I gotta hand it to you on how you easily break things." Before he could laminate further, he quickly turned sober and examined his problem. Analyzing it in further detail quickly made him realize that this was way above his pay grade. And eventually the system blocked him and a notification popped upright on his screen and read,

Permission level 4 and above required to access information.

This information confirmed his suspicions, he had a level 3 access which was pretty good, but this still wasn't enough to access it. Chung felt slightly worried for Dagon but he couldn't do anything about it. With a somber expression, he turned towards the exit and headed towards the elevator. This was the first time since he started working here that he needed to contact the site administrator.
