Assassin Initiate

Halifax, April 1752.

On a mid sized boat, two men, a captain on the wheel and his mate were talking.

"It likes we are nearly there." the captain said.

"Yes" replied the mate.

Around the boat at a distance were islands of all types, big and small, lush green or with just rocks and palm trees.

"CAPTAIN!!!! A big ship is sailing in the east at approx 1 km away, judging by the flag it looks like a merchant's." The lookout from above shouted while those two were busy discussing. Hearing the lookout's words, the crew became excited and all looked towards the captain with eager expressions.

The captain turned to his mate and said,

"What are your opinions on a little detour, Liam??"

"I say, Chevalier can wait a little." Liam said with a slight smile.

Hearing this Shay turned towards the crew,

"Get prepared lads, we are having a feast tonight. Full speed ahead."

"YEAHHH!!!!"

"Load the cannons and mortar!!" Liam started giving instructions.

Morrigan turned to east and sped up. As they were drawing close to 300m distance, lookout said,

"Captain, looks like they have spotted us, there is activity on the deck of their ship."

"Alright." Shay simply replied but gave no further instructions. Liam quietly looked at Shay and then turned to the merchant's ship. The ship which was going towards the east started to turn. From the looks of it, they were trying to align the cannon's angle. Looking at this Liam couldn't help but mutter,"This guy..."

The merchant's ship was now perpendicular to Morrigan and was waiting. When the distance reached nearly 100 m, *BOOM* *Boom*, it fired the mortar.

"Brace for impact lads!!" Saying this Shay also ducked while gripping the wheel, nearby Liam also grasped the border fence of ship. Nearly 3 seconds later, the mortar shots reached them, but because they were continuously moving, the mortar missed and shot at the sea behind the Morrigan.

"Shoot the mortar!!" Shay shouted, and Morrigan shot the mortar. Again nearly 3 sec later, the mortar shots reached the ship and rained on them. Due to the ship remaining still, the mortar hit the bullseye dealing the maximum damage. The ship was nearly broken. When the Morrigan reached 30m, the sh.i.p.s cannons shot, but only 3 cannons were able to fire due to the damage and no shots hit the Morrigan. As the Morrigan was nearing the ship, Shay ordered,

"Speed up lads!! We're gonna ram them and brace for impact."

The ship sped up the last dozen meters and successfully hitting the ship. This hit broke the merchant ship in half and it started to sunk. The crew atop the ship started to jump in sea to prevent themselves from drowning under the sh.i.p.s rubble.

"Whooohoooo!!!""Yeah!!""We showed them!"

Seeing this scene, Morrigan's crew gave a big cheer. Morrigan slowed down and turned around to get the spoils of battle.

"Get to work everyone. Leave nothing valuable behind, ransack the cargo, and capture the sailors, they can be sold as slaves. If there is anyone important, we can ask for ransom."

"Aye aye Captain."

The crew got to work. Half jumping in the sea and bringing the cargo towards the Morrigan, the other half in carrying the cargo up on the deck.

When everything was looted, Morrigan turned and left the scene.

Port La Joye

Morrigan docked at the port and Shay climbed down to the port with Liam. He turned to the Morrigan and said to the crew,

"Alright lads, dont go for fun or something, we will be leaving soon. So, if you do need to do something, make it quick."

After walking a few steps, Liam stopped Shay and said, "I will go to the port manager and ask for a repairman. After that ram, Morrigan took damage also. We were luck that it was a merchant ship as they are weak sh.i.p.s. If it was an Army or equivalent, it would have been Morrigan going down the sea."

"I know it was weak, that's why I risked ramming. Just make it a quick trip, you know we won't stay for long." Shay said.

"Yeah, got it, Captain." Saying this Liam turned around and left.

Shay continued to explore the port. As it was a small port, Shay spotted Chevalier at a sea products shop. He started walking towards him. As he neared Chevalier, he heard Chevalier saying to the fisherman,

"Trust me, you will sell those lobsters by the ton in France." Saying this Chevalier sensed something and turned behind ans saw Shay.

"Ah, the cabbage farmer returns. Took you long enough. Lets move from here and continue our chat." After completing this, Chevalier directly started walking in a direction without asking for Shay's consent. Shay followed him helplessly.

After catching up with Chevalier, Shay asked him while walking,"So, tell me, what's the current news on the manuscript??"

The manuscript. When Shay was still in mid-journey, Shay got the information about this. During the trip, Shay asked all the things he had in mind. Achilles weird behavior, Adevale's words etc. He also got his Hidden blade from him. The manuscript was stolen sometime back by the Templars. No one know what's written in that as it's in a foreign language, he just knew it might led to a Piece of Eden. Their mission this time was to get the manuscript back and prevent any Templar to get to the said Piece of Eden.

Hearing Shay's question, Chevalier started telling about info gathered on his side, with an annoyed tone,

"So impatient..... We have a lead on the curious manuscript."

"I'd be surprised if you could read it."

"No one can read it you silly man. This is the reason the Templars are taking so long with it. But one of our allies have taken a glimpse at their work."

"A pirate??"

"A spy who works with the pirates. We set sail for Anticosti. That should prove a good test for this floating cesspit you call ship. I will be with you on your ship. My men will bring my ship after us."
