Chapter 22 - Rebellion Spirit Ascension Platform and Kuroji!

Mizu no kokyū: Ni no kata: Mizu guruma!/ Water Breathing: Second Form: Water Wheel! (TX)

Swish! Thud! The bifurcated ironarm ape stood in place, stunned. Before it could move, the two halves of its body started leaking blood.

Tang Xingxi landed softly on the ground. Swinging his blade to the side to shake off the blood, the ape's body finally split in half and fell on their respective sides. Transforming his katana into a staff, Tang Xingxi starts to twirl it around his body. Imbuing his staff with his Starlight Orb's energy, the staff gains celestial patterns and knocks 15 Ironarm apes backwards with white energy, killing them.

"You done with your side?" asked a jeering voice.

"Of course! Who do you think I am?" Tang Xingxi retorted, finishing another ape off with a spear.

"Just checking," replied a purple-haired youth who was currently cutting another five apes in half with invisible blades opposite Tang Xingxi.

Looking to the right, one could find Xie Xie greedily flickering amongst a swarm of apes. Each time he came into view, the heads of ironarm apes fell. Tang Xingxi was behind him, using his blue-silver grass to bind the creatures and his golden dragon claw to destroy the apes.

Opposite to Xie Xie and Tang Xingxi was Gu Yue. Sickening screams coming from numerous ironarm apes reverberated from her side as she bombarded them with an everlasting amount of fireballs, icicles and many more.

On the other hand, right in the middle of the five were Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi who were clutching their heads and sweating profusely mentally and physically.

"H-hey, those guys. T-they're not human right? Right?" Zhang Yangzi said, trembling in his feet.

"Y-yeah. T-there's no way that's possible f-f-for a human to accomplish," replied Wang Jinxi who was also trembling in his feet.

The group of seven were inside the Rebelling Spirit Ascension Platform, Wu Zhangkong's final test. Tang Wulin made titanium cloud vests for everyone to wear, not that Tang Xingxi needed it, but it was a nice little gesture.

A few minutes later, all that lay before the group were an everlasting amount of ironarm apes. Sitting down, Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi both pointed their fingers at everyone in the group and shouted, "Monsters! All of you! Monsters!"

"Huh!? We're in the same class! All of us are supposed to be monsters! Why didn't you do anything then huh?" retorted an annoyed Xie Xie.

Seeing the situation escalate, Tang Xingxi just replied, "Come on, maybe they're just limited by their attitude or are extremely late bloomers."

Hearing this, the two relaxed slightly.

"Though, you guys do need to work harder to keep up with us. We're not denying it, we are monsters, but monsters are powerful and strongly influence the world, so if that's your goal, you might as well try to keep up. Do you want to try my training regime?" Tang Xingxi finished.

Looking at his smile, there seemed to be a devil standing behind him. Seeing this, everyone except Zi Hui who didn't join shivered slightly.

Xie Xie shivered the most out of all of them. Remembering the hell he had to go through and continue going through, his knees started to buckle.

[Xie Xie POV]

"So, you want to catch up to me," replied Tang Xingxi.

'Is it my imagination, or is he looking scarier than normal,' I thought to myself.

"Well then, alright, I'll train you, but know this will be harsher than teacher Wu's training and he won't pardon you from his training just because you're doing mine. So, you still in," Tang Xingxi said.

"Y-yes! I'll do anything to beat you!" I replied, clacking my knees together to shut off my nervousness.

"Alright then, let's start," he replied with a smile on his face. Suddenly, I felt like I had made a deal with the devil. Walking towards the courtyard, I heard screams of struggle.

"Yusss!"

"Uggggrh!"

"Hah, hah, hah, hah…"

Fearing my fate, I wanted to walk away, but an invisible pressure stopped me from doing so. Seeing the courtyard, I gawked at the sight.

Gu Yue was using six elements and making lotuses with them. It would be impressive even if it was just one, but she was making thousands at a time! She was even merging those lotuses together as well! Currently, her centre-lotus is twice her size! What's more, she was also shapeshifting the terrain away from her while dodging the shots from a soul cannon!

If that wasn't shocking enough, Tang Wulin's training was even worse.

Tang Wulin, on the other hand, was surrounded by rocks. Using his strength, he was attacking those rocks, but was at least five meters away from them! I saw air being pushed by his attacks, but he hasn't even made a dent on those rocks! Like Gu Yue, he was also dodging the rocks fired from the soul cannon! To the side, I also spotted a bunch of blue-silver grass juggling those heavy rocks. I think there were at least fifty of them being juggled!

My eyelid twitching and my mouth gaping, I felt a hand pat my back. Looking at its owner, I saw Tang Xingxi and his evil smile.

'Now I know where my sense of unease came from,' I thought as Tang Xingxi told me my training assignment: "Alright, Xie Xie, you will be running around the track at your fastest speed without using soul power. Using your daggers, you will be defending yourself from the soul cannons which will be shooting out stones. The terrain will change, courtesy of Gu Yue as you run, so be careful. Oh, and, you're going to be wearing this," he said, grabbing a full-body suit.

Looking around, I noticed the others were also wearing the suit. Sending a questioning gaze Tang Xingxi's way, he responded, "This suit will increase the effect of gravity on your body, increasing your physical abilities in the most balanced and perfect way. Let's see, how about we set it to ten times the current gravity for now."

Handing the suit to me, I grudgingly put it on.

"Training starts now!" I hear an evil voice say before I feel a power pulling me to the ground.

"Ahhh!" I scream out as I collapse. Seeing a cannon aiming at me, I push off the ground, barely dodging the bullet before falling down on the floor again.

Seeing the cannon point at me, I scream out, "Noooooooooo!"

[End POV]

"Well, even if you want to, now's not the time. We still have thirty minutes left here, so we might as well go on a rampage," Tang Xingxi said.

Taking a look towards each other, Xie Xie, Tang Wulin, Zi Hui and Gu Yue nodded before going in separate directions.

Looking at Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi, Tang Xingxi said, "Don't do anything stupid" before leaving just like the others.

Jumping around, Tang Xingxi went on a rampage, killing every single beast he could find and absorbed their energy until he found one particular beast.

It seemed to be a floor guardian, and radiated power. Shouting 'Flaws' in his mind, Tang Xingxi discovered that his guess was wrong, yet he couldn't be happier.

[Unknown Unyielding Soul (Bloodied Nine Hell-Tailed Cat), a soul beast that shouldn't have existed. A crossbreed between a nine-tailed fox and a Hell Civet, it's civet genes downgraded and it became a cat. However, it still kept it's dark and speed abilities while it gained the nine tails of its fox mother. It also has eyes which can be used to hypnotize other living creatures.

Abilities: It fights with its speed and it's unnaturally strong tails. It can condense dark energy into its tails and mouth in the form of explosive balls and fingers in the form of blades. If blood is added, the balls can be controlled even when ejected and become twice as powerful. It usually only uses close-combat as a last resort as it usually attacks from long range and uses its eyes to hypnotize opponents.

Weaknesses:

1. Under its jaw is a weak spot which will instantly kill the cat.

2. Its weight needs to be supported by all its legs. This is because of an unknown mutation which made it fat. Losing one of its legs means losing it only means on moving or standing.

3. Tickling the belly or ears of the cat will well…it's a cat. What do you expect?

Spoils after defeat: Cat will hide in spirit sea and the user can allocate cat to any of his spirits (cannot be moved after). The cat will also drop a nine-tailed bone upon defeat. Upon absorption, the user's kagune will absorb the bone and turn it into a 12-tailed bone. It will also allow the user to use the kagune for long-range attacks.]

'Yes! I've hit the jackpot!' Tang Xingxi thought to himself. He was really troubled by the fact that his blood-related abilities were slowly losing importance. He recently found out that his celestial bloodline could make the burden of using his celestial transformations easier, but his blood-abilities just increased his endurance, regeneration and physicality.

He was looking for a way to make them more relevant, and he just found it.

Deciding to give a show to his teacher who was watching him, Tang Xingxi put away his spirit and activated his vampiric and ghoulish bloodline.

[Wu Zhangkong POV]

"N-n-now I know what you meant when you said to increase the difficulty exponentially," a worker said as he was looking at the screen.

Seeing the massacres caused by Xie Xie, Gu Yue, Zi Hui, Tang Wulin and Tang Xingxi, all of the workers sighed.

"Well, at least those two are normal," another worker said, pointing at Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi.

Suddenly, one worker stood up and said, "Um, sir, does your student normally do that?" a worker asked me.

"Who's the student you're talking about?" I asked.

"Tang Xingxi," the worker replied.

"Well, he's always hiding something, so I think he's going to try and make a show. I don't think he'd want me to miss it," I replied, walking over to the screen before also stopping in my tracks.

Now I know why the worker was so agitated. Looking at my student, even I questioned myself whether he was the same student I had. His hair wasn't blue anymore. Instead, it was black. Pitch black. 12 blood-red tail protruding out of his lower back, they gave off a menacing aura. His colourful turquoise clothes had turned black and his fingernails lengthened into killing weapons. His figure changed slightly, but only to the point that his gender wasn't discernable instead of feminine.

Shifting the view to another angle, I saw his face. His mouth opened only for a second, but there seemed to be fangs. His right eye was the most shocking part. It was black. As dark as obsidian. His irises turned red and his red veins could clearly be seen all throughout his eye, spreading partially out into the right side of his face.

I watched in shock as he transformed into a mist of blood. Reappearing in front of an odd cat-like soul beast, he charged.

"Shit! That's an Unyielding Spirit Soul!" one of the workers shouted, but I couldn't care less.

The beast seeing Tang Xingxi's charge jumped backwards and started to charge up its own tails to attack him. Shooting the balls of energy out, Tang Xingxi skillfully dodged before stomping on the ground.

Seeing this action, the beast moved to the side, anticipating a frontal attack only to see Tang Xingxi disappear. It couldn't even process the situation before it got pierced by Tang Xingxi's 'tails.'

Screaming, it's final struggles were left unanswered. Transforming into light particles, it turned into a black ring before disappearing inside Tang Xingxi and dropping a black spirit bone with nine tails.

Feeling a bead of sweat forming, I ignored the chaos around me and thought to myself, 'Hahaha! A spirit elder with a ten-thousand-year soul ring and an external spirit bone! Hahahahaha! What luck do I have, teaching this student! Still, why did the beast also give him it's ring…'

"What! All of them except the normal kids got spirit bones! Are you kidding me!" the head worker screamed.

Hearing this, I rushed towards the worker, with questions in mind as to the soul bones they acquired.

Meanwhile, in Tang Xingxi's spirit sea…

'Brat! Do you really think you can handle me! What makes you worthy enough for me to be your spirit soul!?' the cat said.

Hearing this, Tang Xingxi got slightly annoyed. He defeated the cat using its hidden abilities, already got it's spirit soul and bone, and it still dares to try and take the advantage! Looking at the cat in disdain, Tang Xingxi released his vampiric and ghoulish pressure on the cat's soul at full force.

Suddenly feeling the blood suppression, the cat collapsed and writhed in pain before recognizing the position of power it had. Feeling like this human could help him, the cat bowed.

Opening its mouth, the cat spoke, "Human, I shall devote everything to you with no exceptions if you fulfil one condition of mine."

Interested in this condition, Tang Xingxi asked about it because even if he refused, he could just overpower the creature: "Speak, what is your condition."

"My condition is, to KILL THE BASTARDS WHO MURDERED MY PARENTS!!! DON`T THINK I MEAN THE PEOPLE WHO ALLOWED ME TO CONTINUE LIVING, EVEN IF IT'S HERE, I MEAN TWO PEOPLE FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT CULT!!!" the cat answered with a scowl on its face.

Surprised at its condition, Tang Xingxi laughed. Yes, he laughed maniacally. The cat was confused at Tang Xingxi's actions.

About to ask whether or not the kid said yes, Tang Xingxi told him his answer: "I won't be killing them, but I will make you strong enough to kill them yourself!"

Surprised at his answer, the cat laughed. Yes, it laughed and felt as if a weight was lifted off of it's back. Suddenly, the cat's cultivation rose exponentially. It's fur started to change colours, and it got slimmer by the minute.

When it finished transforming, it turned into a completely different creature. Its black fur had red markings and shined slickly. It grew slightly bigger and looked more like the cross of a fox and civet. Red and purple fire blew out of its legs, top of its body and shoulders. Its ears grew bigger and its tails grew. (Imagine the bigger fox in wallpaperaccess.com/full/1807567.jpg, but with twelve tails, more cat-like ears, the fire becoming purple and red, black fur, and it only being half the size of the picture's version.)

Seeing its transformation, Tang Xingxi inwardly geeked out! 'Yes! it turned into a hundred-thousand-year-old creature! Well, it could speak, so I guess it was only suppressed,' he thought to himself as the beast lay there.

Seeing it's finished transformation and evolution into a hundred-thousand-year-old beast, it took the initiative and transformed into human-form. Darkness whirling around it, the beast took the form of a human.

When the darkness dissipated, out came a red and black haired humanoid figure. With yellow eyes reminiscent of his bestial form, he wore a red vest and tie with white gloves. With formal clothing, he had two catlike ears on his head, one red and one black, each of them on a red and black tuft of hair respectively. Black and red tails extending from his tailbone, he looked perfect. (i.pinimg.com/564x/62/b7/69/62b7690b80a8880dad1fc872875acc5b.jpg with added modifications)

Taking a few steps towards me, he knelt on one knee and swore, "From this day on, I shall serve my liege before me until the day I die on the condition that he shall let me exact my revenge. I swear to the heavens above that this contract shall be true. If I fail in upholding this, may the fox god drag me to hell and lightning pierce my soul!"

Following along, Tang Xingxi said, "I Tang Xingxi, accept this contract of servitude towards me. If I fail to uphold this contract, I shall be subjected to eternal death and my soul may never re-enter the cycle of samsara!"

Nothing happened, no announcement, no nothing. But even if the words stated on that day were to be meaningless to the heavens, the two have already gained an extra amount of trust between themselves.

"May you give this humble servant a name?" asked the beast.

Surprised that he didn't have a name, Tang Xingxi thought long and hard before asking, "Chinese or Japanese?" while imbuing the mood of Chinese and Japanese culture in their respective words.

Contemplating the mood brought by the two, the beast finally responded, "Japanese."

"Alright then," Tang Xingxi said, not expecting the beast to choose Japanese as it was born in Chinese culture, "your full name shall be Kuroji Fukushuu. Your first name, Kuroji, means black which is your original and current colour and two for your two bloodlines. Your last name, Fukushuu, means vengeance, the thing which allowed for this meeting."

"Thank you, master…forgive me for asking, but what may be your name?" Kuroji asked.

"Oh, right, I didn't tell you my name yet. My name is Tang Xingxi," Tang Xingxi lifted his right hand as he replied before calling out, "Flaws!"

Immediately after saying those two words, a book flew to his right hand. Catching it, Tang Xingxi tossed it to Kuroji and said, "Read it so that you will know what to improve on."

Catching the book, Kuroji started reading and had his eyes glued to the book.

[Hundred-Thousand-Year-old Nine Hell-Tailed Celestial Dragon-Blooded Fox-Cat Spirit Soul (Kuroji Fukushuu), Spirit Soul of Tang Xingxi, not yet allocated to a martial spirit…]

Engrossed in reading the book about himself, Kuroji wasn't able to notice Tang Xingxi leave his spirit sea.

Opening his eyes to the platform, Tang Xingxi picked up the spirit bone. Thanking himself for making the time dilation wish affect his spirit sea, he grabbed Kuroji's spirit bone.

Gritting his teeth and bracing himself for the pain, Tang Xingxi started to absorb the bone. 'Huh? Why doesn't this hurt?' Tang Xingxi thought to himself as he absorbed the bone. Unlike all the examples Tang Xingxi has read about absorbing spirit bones, they didn't hurt. Only a warm sensation spread throughout Tang Xingxi's body and focused on his kagune. The reason it was like this, was because there was already a perfect place to put the bone, the kagune and the body of Tang Xingxi was able to actually increase the bone's quality.

Finishing the absorption, Tang Xingxi's mind was bombarded with the bone's abilities. Right now, the bone increased the sturdiness of the kagune and added to its flexibility. Tang Xingxi could also turn any of his energies into a ball and focus it on the tip of any, or all of his tail to shoot them out like balls.

Experimenting with this, Tang Xingxi figured out how to shoot them like lasers and rapid-fire the energy. Satisfied with his findings, Tang Xingxi looked at the clock. Seeing that it was almost time to go, Tang Xingxi sat down and channelled energy into his spirits. Absorbing the energy, Tang Xingxi aged his half-purple spirit rings into purple spirit rings and his second spirit ring into a half-black spirit ring.

Finished ageing his rings, Tang Xingxi got up and looked at the time. Seeing the clock, Tang Xingxi jumped to a nearby cliff and enjoyed the view.

A white light enveloped Tang Xingxi and everyone else. Seeing the environment change from a lush green forest into a soul chamber, Tang Xingxi waited for the staff to take him out of the soul pod. (Okay…guess I'm calling the soul pod soul-pod now. Emphasis on the hyphen.)

"How are you doing?" Wu Zhangkong's face appeared above the metal box.

Staff members also came over, prodding Tang Xingxi's body with a sort of popsicle-looking thing.

"Are you conscious? Do you feel cold?" the staff asked.

"Yes," Tang Xingxi answered.

Tang Wulin grabbed the edge of the soul pod and slowly pulled himself up.

"Teacher, I'm fine," Tang Xingxi said as he got out of the soul pod.

Wang Jinxi, Zhang Yangzi, Xie Xie, Gu Yue and Tang Wulin were waiting at the side.

'So, I was the last one out,' Tang Xingxi thought. About to ask what happened to them inside the platform, he felt a hand grabbing him by the waist. Looking at its owner, it was Wu Zhangkong. Walking away with everyone in tow, Wu Zhangkong didn't even allow the workers to ask anything and left the place a mess.

Moving to another building, Wu Zhangkong said with an authoritative tone, "Okay, all of you, consolidate everything you have right now before we do the second part of your test. By the way, everyone gets 100 marks except for Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi with 99 marks each."

Hearing this, everyone started meditating except for Wang JInxi and Zhang Yangzi who went up to Wu Zhangkong and started to talk to him.

'They definitely want to leave,' thought Tang Xingxi before he entered his spirit sea.

Looking at Kuroji, Tang Xingxi smiled and said, "So, how have you been."

"Never better. I now know what to do to get strong enough to kill my enemies and have enough power to properly serve under you," Kuroji responded.

"Great! Well, it's time to absorb you as my second spirit soul for my second spirit." Tang Xingxi spoke.

Closing his eyes for a few seconds, Tang Xingxi broke through to rank 30. Outside, in the real world, Wu Zhangkong felt this and thought to himself, 'This kid. He suppressed his breakthrough because he didn't want anyone he didn't know to see it didn't he.'

Back in Tang Xingxi's soul realm, Tang Xingxi brought Kuroji to the core of his spirit sea. In the core, were many things: A floating eye, a chained dragon, an indescribable entity, an orb of light, and many more. Stopping at a floating set of black armour which spewed out smoke and had a snake circling it, Tang Xingxi said, you know what to do.

Nodding, Kuroji's power started to circle himself in a blood-red colour. Circling around himself, the ring moved over on top of the armour and descended the length of it. After doing so, the ring slowly started to be absorbed by the armour. When the ring was fully absorbed, the armour gained a red sheen and glow, and tiny little furs seemed to grow out of it.

On the outside though, Wu Zhangkong was freaking out. He didn't have to keep his icy facade when his students couldn't see it, but even with his facade, he would still be shocked. 'That's a red spirit ring! Didn't he absorb a black one! Goddamn! What kind of f.u.c.k.i.n.g geniuses did I pick up?' he thought as beads of sweat dropped behind his back, 'Good thing I sealed him off from everyone else. That was close.' Seeing Tang Xingxi fully absorb the ring, Wu Zhangkong released the seal and redid his composure.

Nodding at each other, the two reentered the normal area. Looking at Kuroji, Tang Xingxi called out, "Aura!"

"Yes, master," said a beautiful voice before a stunning woman appeared in front of Tang Xingxi.

"Follow my orders," Tang Xingxi said to her before turning his head to Kuroji and saying, "I don't have the time to train you, so she will train you, got it?"

"Yes master," Kuroji said.

"Aura?" Tang Xingxi questioned.

"Yes master," Aura replied.

"Alright, I'll be going now," Tang Xingxi said before going back into the normal world. Looking at everyone already up and waiting for him, Tang Xingxi stood up.

Wu Zhangkong, inquisitively looking at him in particular, said, "Alright, follow me for the second part of the test."
