Avatar: Terror Of The Red Spirit

Chapter 15 - Uncle Iroh

There was a figure of a man sitting in the darkness who was sipping on a cup of wine. Wine wasn't his favourite drink rather than that it was the least of all the drinks he liked, he loathed it as it would usually steal the sanity from a person. He'd rather drink a cup of tea but why not? Well because alcohol enhances the grief he is filled in, he wants to indulge himself in that grief.

His sons are gone, as soon as he heard that he decided to stop the war and head home as he lost all motivation and continuing will lead for the whole army's defeat. As soon as he returned he rushed to his room and locked himself inside and wouldn't want to talk to his family even his father. But his family would knock on his door wishing to talk to him but he denied them, even Azulon his father himself was knocking the day he went missing.

After his father was gone as well he fell further into depression as the people closest to him have gone, his sons and his father, it was truly heartbreaking especially that it all happened on the same month.

His usual youthful face and greyish black hair have withered to the future as he looked even older his face had become ten times more wrinkly and his hair is the colour of a man in his sixties. Not only that but his body has become fat as he filled himself with food and wine.

Then one day he had a thought of doing something unthinkable, maybe he could end his life. He wasn't thinking straight he was way too smart to know that this was dumb but right now he isn't thinking straight and his mind is clouded by stupid thoughts.

Knock! Knock!

"Uncle Iroh! Let me talk to you!"

But Iroh didn't answer.

"Uncle Iroh! If you don't open this door right now I'll burn it to the ground!"

But Iroh didn't understand, he couldn't Hear properly as he was constantly day dreaming not paying attention to the surroundings few knocks of Zuko only awoke him few seconds before Iroh dazed back of.

Boom!

Zuko blew the dark red doors sending flying inside the dark room with only a single beam of sunlight.

A young Zuko walked in, he ripped all the curtains with all his might ripping them off. Iroh was blinded as the too much light has invaded his eyes that were accustomed to darkness.

"Wake Up Uncle! Stop being in the darkness, why do you let yourself be consumed by these negative emotions, this isn't the usual you The Happy You! You're too smart to be consuemd by these emotions! Kuro and Lu Ten wouldn't want you to be like this!"

Hearing this Iroh became very angry that he released all his anger, smoke coming from his nostrils as his golden piercing eyes looked at Zuko instantly.

"You don't know me! I'll chose if I want to be sad or not! My sons are gone, my father is gone! My family is gone!" Iroh's browns lowered and he looked like wanted to do something bad.

"YOU HAVE ME!!! I AM STILL HERE! I LOST FAMILY TOO!" Zuko shouted with all his might at Iroh.

Iroh that moment awoke from the cloud of depression blinding him and realised his ignorance and his actions, he even felt guilty for even thinking about striking Zuko. He felt sad yet again but rather than letting it control him he'll control it.

"I'm sorry Nephew. I'm really sorry. I stupidly let myself be controlled by grief. I want to thank you, you saved me."

"Don't thank me. Give me a hug." And so they hugged,"You are my family, my cousins were like my brothers."

Iroh remembered what Kuro said the last time the day before he headed of to Ba Sing Se.

'He's like a little brother to me so I want him to be safe and grow up following the right path.'

With that Iroh realised what was needed of him, what path he needed to walk and that was to guide his nephew and help him grow into a good young man like his son wanted to do. He'll finish what his son wanted to do.

'Lu Ten. Kuro. Wherever you are I hope you're doing well. You too Father.'
