Avenger From Another World

Beastlike eyes, upright ears, sharp teeth, pale white furry body, and a body shape resembles a dog, but larger. No mistake, the shadowy figure was a wolf, and it was currently eyeing on Xiao.

(Shit! Shit! Shit! Just my freaking luck, never have I thought of to take a piss at this timing would put me in this goddamn situation! So this is what Lars meant by monsters lurking around the area at night?!)

As Xiao pay more attention to the wolf, who's growling and readying a posture like he was going to leap on Xiao anytime sooner, he noticed something was different than the wolf he knew, not only was the wolf so skinny until its rib bone was visibly displayed, there were also some punctured holes around its body, which resides with maggots and flies, and its eyes has no pupil in it.

(I don't know about wolf, but this one is not the wolf I recognized! All I can do now is to run as fast as I could and shout on Lars for help, I don't know how he can help me in this situation but at least two is better than one.)

Xiao can't feel the cold wind blowing through him as he was too focused on finding the right opportunity to dash away from the wolf-like monster, the same goes for the monster as it was growling while waiting for the right timing to make a deadly leap towards Xiao.

Both of them were waiting for each other to make the first move, the wolf-like monster was adjusting the distance and position of its prey before it claws its way to Xiao's neck with its fangs.

In a blink of an eye, the wolf-like monster leapt first, for its nature as a monster was not patience enough than Xiao. It was at the moment, just like how linked gears react to each other when one of them starts turning, Xiao reacted a few nano secs just right after the wolf-like monster leapt.

(Now!)

The moment the wolf-like monster took off from the ground, Xiao put all his strength into his legs and springs away from his original position, which not only dodges the attacked but also put a great distance from it, he then proceeds to run towards the direction of Lars like his life depends on it.

"HELP! LARS! A wolf-like monster is chasing me!"

Thinking that he would be safe as long as he kept on running towards to Lars location, Xiao ran while shouting for Lars's name, but when he looked further ahead and expecting a man's figure, he spotted nothing at all, except for the bonfire.

(What the...Where the hell did the bastard go?!)

Xiao panicked the moment he can't find Lars around the bonfire, he desperately tracks Lars's body figure but can't seem to find him at anywhere.

While Xiao was drenched in sweat from the running and anxiety, the wolf-like monster almost catches up to Xiao and was about to sink its sharp teeth into his leg.

"Shit!"

Xiao tumbled to the sideway in a split second, dodging another deadly attack from the wolf-like monster as it bites nothing but empty air.

Although Xiao was unharmed for the moment, he had stopped completely, which was a bad idea as the wolf-like monster was only 5 meters away from where he is standing at, one leap attack from it would probably be the death of Xiao.

Once again, Xiao and the wolf-like monster was in a stalemate, but this time, Xiao was in panicked while the wolf-like monster has still plenty of energy to spared as it rubs its fangs on the floor like it was itching for the sensation of tearing Xiao into pieces.

"Damn it, damn it all! Just when I escaped from my death penalty to this world, and this is the thing that is going to kill me?"

Xiao shouted out his feeling of anxiety while examing the movement of the wolf-like monster, as his face looks like he was about to give up on his life and become a meal to the monster, he gripped his fist tightly and shouted out his resolve.

"Don't make me laugh! Dying to a mob monster when my life was only about to begin in this new world? I'm going to survive no matter what it takes!"

Xiao hasn't given up yet! He prepares himself in a posture while eyeing on something else besides the wolf-like monster.

(Don't miss it, that one moment, that one only chance, I will grasp it, I will survive this!)

Xiao took a deep breath, as to prepare his body and visualize the move he is going to make in the next instant.

Without any warning, the wolf-like monster made a leapt with great ferocity, its fangs were facing the front as it intended to slice through Xiao's neck.

Instead of backing away from the wolf-like monster's attack, Xiao runs towards the direction of the attack with full determination, and right before the monster's claw was about to reach Xiao, he suddenly disappeared from the monster's sight.

The wolf-like monster was startled by the disappearance of Xiao, but then it realizes that Xiao did not just disappear, he was sliding below its body and dodges its attacked, not only that, Xiao has acquired the thing that he had been eyeing on in his hand, and it turns out to be a middle size sharp edges rock, that means Xiao had already known the monster was going to jump onto him, so he was aiming to use this rock to launch a counter-attack right after he dodges the attacked.

"Die! You goddamn mutt!"

Everything happened almost simultaneously for the wolf-like monster to react to Xiao's attack, which was impossible for the monster to dodges as it comes straight from below, so Xiao successfully pierced through its body with so much force that great amount of blood burst out upon impact from the monster's gut.

(Alright! It went through its stomach, take that, you goddamn monster!)

Xiao's heart races in victory as the wolf-like monster stopped its movement completely, he then tries to crawl away from its body as blood was pouring out from its body, which produces a foul odour.

Just when Xiao crawls out from the wolf-like monster's body and was about to stand up, like a snap of a finger, the monster's head move towards Xiao with a jaw full of sharp teeth.

"What the!"

Xiao reactively guards the unexpected attacked by throwing out his right arm, which stopped the monster from reaching to his throat.

"Mother of!"

Xiao forcefully kicked away the monster, which sent knocks away the monster to some distance while Xiao tumbles backwards to put more distance from it.

"No way, no freaking way! That was supposed to kill it, so why is it still standing right now?!"

Xiao was shocked as he thought the attacked from him should have killed the monster already, besides, Xiao felt not only shocked but also the sensation of pain.

The sensation of pain became stronger and stronger, and it was coming from his right arm, as Xiao looked at his right side, he was expecting the sight of his right arm, but, it was no there, Xiao's right arm was gone from his body.

"..hey...what is....this?"

Xiao was still dumbstruck by the sight, he then looked at the wolf-like monster and found out where did his arm went, it was hanging at the jaw of the monster.

"AHHHHH!!"

Disgusted by the sight while also suffered the immense pain from his lost arm, Xiao shouted out in despair and pain while holding the amputated part of his arm.

".....damn...it, my right arm....my freaking right arm!"

Tears and saliva were spilling out from Xiao as the pain he felt right now has no words to describe it, the pain also starting to affect his conscious as it was so painful that it could knock him to unconsciousness anytime.

"....not yet, I'm not dead yet!"

Xiao endured the pain as he strengthens his will to survive, he tried to focus on the monster movement, which he figures out something as he observes the monster's body.

Thanks to the knowledge of playing video games and watching movie, Xiao found out the true nature of this monster, the hollow eyes, skinny body, and maggots and flesh flies residing around its body, this monster was a zombie wolf, which explained why it did not die even losing so much blood from Xiao's attacked.

(No way I can kill this thing! This monster is a freaking zombie! And I lost my right arm for it! So I'm gonna run as fast as I can and as far as I can, I'm going to survive! I'm going to survive!)

Once Xiao has made up his mind, he turns around and starts running, without any hesitation.

And the chase begins, Xiao was enduring the pain from his lost arm while running with all his energy, and the zombie wolf was giving him a chase with his arm still hanging at its jaw.

Since it has been too long for Xiao to work out in such a long time, his running speed was starting to slow down as his stamina was depleting very fast and he was gasping for air more and more.

(Shit! Shit! Shit! Who would have known that my laziness would be my downfall, I should have work on my stamina if I knew this was going to happen, but how am I suppose to know that I will be running for my life from a freaking zombie wolf!)

Just so sudden, Xiao accidentally kicked a stone while he was running, combining the pain and the lack of oxygen, Xiao lost his balance and fell to the ground.

Before Xiao even had the chance to regain posture and continue running, the zombie wolf had already caught up to Xiao and straight-up delivered a fatal slash from its fang to Xiao's back.

Not waiting for Xiao to react the shock and the pain from the attacked, it followed with another swiping attack so powerful that it sent Xiao to tumble away on the ground.

With two devasting blow received, Xiao's fate has been sealed, he will either die by losing blood or worse, get eaten alive by the zombie wolf, which has the possibility as the zombie wolf was drooling over the place as it approached Xiao.

"Guess....this is the end....damn it....."

Knowing that he has no way of escaping from the zombie wolf, Xiao give up his struggle as he waited in despair for it to devour his flesh.

As Xiao thought the zombie wolf would mercilessly open up its mouth and starts chewing his flesh, like any zombie movie he used to watch, but then it stopped, and proceed to twitch its nose as it was sniffing something. The zombie wolf figure something from the smell and starts making a whimpering sound, before it turns around and runs away from Xiao.

(Why the hell did it left? Goddamn it, this world sure is full of crazy and unexplainable monster, but who cares, at least I won't die as a meal.)

As Xiao's blood was flowing out, conscious was slowly fading away, and every breath he took was heavier than before, he knew his life is coming to an end.

"To think...I would....die... right after I.....came to....this world, but well.....dying under....a starry sky.....might not be....a bad idea...."

With full of regrets and frustration, Xiao closes his eyes and fell into unconsciousness.

But right before his conscious fades away, Xiao felt someone has whispered something beside him.

"Hehe, just as calculated."
